The device wouldn't connect on 10/21/2021 so I restarted Piper. This factory reset everything (not what I wanted) and erased all of my accessories. I cannot add any accessories as the add screen times out immediately. Now useless. 4/4/2022 update: I worked with Alex from support and we weren't able to resolve the device/sensor add and timeout issue. Their last recommendation was to use a new email address and setup a new account. Reluctantly, I did this and it worked. I was able to add again

After IFTTT was removed, this app has gone back to what it was a few years ago, which isn't good. Before, I really could only recommend Piper to people I knew were fairly tech-savy as well as patient. Now, I cant recommend it at all, because it lacks major features that similarly priced, self-monitoring systems have. Things like reliable self-arming/disarming, widgets for app functions, and integration with other smart systems. Also, I really like the less than a week notice for the IFTTT loss.

Around the start of 2019, they fixed the crashing problem, but we stopped getting notifications (on all 3 of our Samsung Android devices). With the latest fix, notifications work while the app is in memory and active, but as soon as it becomes inactive (a few minutes after one's stopped using it) you stop getting the notifications. When you restart the app, you get all the missed notifications at once, in a flood. Developers, PLEASE look at fixing.

1/8 Well looks like they FINALLY squashed the bugs, at least for me, no more crashing. Yay! 12/29 *sigh* crashes crashes crashes. IT IS NOT USABLE. i have reinstalled the app and restarted my phone, Galaxy S7, to no avail. From what i heard, the company that bought them is letting the piper side die off... OH! Something I just realized today, the base unit will NOT work if the power goes out. Yes, I know about the batteries, and they have been checked and reinstalled multiple times.

The piper server was offline the entire day on Oct 21, 2021. Now it's working again. Both, the piper app and the piper camera, did not connect to the server when it was down. The app closed immediately after opening it, and the camera continuously had a yellow flashing LED. I just hope that this problem will never happen again!

The alarms themselves are good. Picture quality is ok, alarm is loud and it's sensitivity is really good. The problem is the software. The app is dated, not changed at all in years and lacks fuctionality. No schedules for it to run automatically, instead the only option is smart arming through LIFE360 Tracker. Still lacking functions to auto arm (stay) when home. No IFTTT (why was this removed?) No Smart Home integration (SmartThings, homekit?) Great hardware held back by terrible software

Used to work fully, these days not so much. You cant connect the wirless zwave door sensors that it used to support, the device won't detect them anymore. And worst of all the app doesn't let you arm Piper at all! It doesn't save your settings for it to arm. Options for the alarm mode are invisible, developer hasn't and probably will never update the app to fix these problems. I'm looking at competitors now.

I bought the first version of the system, one of the best system, cost and features wise. Still works really well. There are some issues in the app and if they had resolved them back then, then it would have picked up in the mkt. At one point I configure to use with ifttt (doesn't work anymore) and still works well with Life360. I heard the company went bankrupt and bought by another security company but still their servers are operational and I really appreciate that.

Update 1/16 Looks like app is working now BUT even with Piper unarmed, I continue to get movement and sound alerts nonstop regardless if reboot camera and reset. Up until they had the update in 12/18, my Piper worked great. After the update, it continued to send out alerts even though the system itself was not armed and now I cannot get my system to reconnect to wifi nor can I even get to the Troubleshooting setup in the app without the app stopping.

I have to agree with other reviews that this latest update makes the app much worse. I no longer get notifications and changing settings results in the app crashing. Simply rolling back to the previous version would be a massive improvement and I hope something that happens soon.

Now that you are ending IFTTT support, will you be updating the app to be more useful and to fill the IFTTT gap? - Timed alarm activations - A widget to allow easy setting/disarming without the laborious logging-in and waiting for the app to connect. I've always persevered with Piper because the hardware is good. But the software was always buoyed by IFTTT. Without simple features like those above there's no point staying with Piper - or buying, for any potential customers.

It works most of the time, sometimes glitchy. Could the disconnected notification be more accurate and faster to alert? Could the software show devices (phones, tablets & computers) connected to the app and be able to disconnect if not authorized? Could a safety notification be available to show if another user is logged on? Could a notification be available to show if someone is viewing live or playback? Piper can be a great camera but features listed above make competitors stand out.

work in progress! it's better then some of the other comparable cams and apps out there, like the sricam, but with recent updates, the app was force closing when trying g yo push notifications, and now I get no notifications of any kind. sort of would be nice to have that back again. Developers, please look at two updates back at what changed for notification and resolve please.

This started out as a great device but over just 2 years the Piper NV i bought no longer displays video and the most recent updates of the application does not push out motion activity notifications the primary use of these devices. I have a Piper classic and Piper NV and both have this issue. Seems like support team is not really interested in solving the issue either.

In recent months, I wasn't getting alerts until I woke up my phone for another reason. After the latest update, I'm not getting alerts at all. I've had an increasingly frustrating experience with Piper since buying. Not sure why I even bother with it anymore.

13/1: Can't connect to server! App useless again. // Previous update causing app crashing replaced with new one. System works without any issues now. Previously sometimes happened that app didn't log in at first and I had to reopen app for it to log in. If this doesn't occur anymore, I'll update rating to 5*. Important note: Piper team replied to my e-mail quickly and gave me info about what was happening. They wrote me again when new update was available. Plus points, very good customer service.

Horrible and dangerous application, not to be used for any serious home security purpose - fails to connect to camera feed nearly every time. Tested camera and application randomly with a 2nd person to see how it would work in the event of an actual break-in/emergency and it failed to connect the entire time. Piper shouldn't advertise themselves as anything more than a novelty as they fail miserably in any serious capacity.

Let's you down when you need it most. I'm currently on vacation in another country and using Piper as my home security. Big mistake! Piper did an update to the app and now it shows that it is offline. It wants me to set up and configure the whole system all over again! What a waist of money and who knows what's going on at my house because I can't check in to see or know anything. If you're looking for real security avoid this useless device.

Same issues as others. Latest update crashes and does not allow me to reconnect camera. Although this camera has worked ok for years it's always experienced frequent network connection issues and resetting it is a pain. Time to send this thing to the junk bin.

I've had this system for years now and it has always been a big pain to get this things connected to your wifi. Once they eventually get set up you live in fear that a power outage will screw them up and you'll have to waste a lot of time trying to get the set back up. Other than this they work okay.

If you Just bought one of Piper's product my honest advice is return it and buy something else, unless you want to have your blood pressure go crazy everytime you trying to reconnect to your home wifi. I can't imagine how they can't figure out a way easier way to connect to home wifi . It is a nightmare....

Switched to SmartThings for everything this did. Still use for camera but all other functions are more advanced using the ST Classic App. All accessories successfully moved from Piper and whole world of devices has opened up for integration. Goodbye Piper you worked great while you were being actively developed.

EDIT: Appears to be back online now. Fantastic camera and app, just hope they keep on working. I absolutely love my Piper NV but have been unable to login to the app for well over a day now and it was also offline last week. Hoping the servers come back online and this is not the end!! Love this camera and it's crazy loud built in alarm.

Push notifications no longer work and hasn't for some time. I understand that it can be the device but it makes Piper useless if you arent notified. The piper team should find a fix and post to their users. It might make sense to list fixes in a FAQ. Issues noted on Samsung Note 8 and Samsung S9.

The app connects to my piper 1/10 times, and now they've removed support for IFTTT, which was the only thing that made the device usable. Add in time controls so it can arm and disarm automatically, or lose customers.

constantly crashing the last 1 to 2 months. also draining phone resources as a result. fix. your. app. i know your developers are being told in detail the root of these crashes as I'm in Mobile development. this is terrible support. you haven't even emailed your user base.

The app crashes every time I try to troubleshoot the device that lost connection with the system. basically it is completely useless right now. it needs to be fixed asap!

Great in concept but devices disconnect unexpectedly, frequently. This is also now the same experience in my second home, which this time is covered 100% by a Google WiFi mesh network. Wish I had gone with Nest Cams.
