Piracy existed since the beginnings of maritime communication. In antiquity, they fought against piracy, among others
such chieftains as Pompey, Julius Caesar and Octavian Augustus. Already in ancient Greece and Rome, pirates were
treated as enemies of the human race. The most well-known pirates were Berber pirates, as well as Japanese,
attacking the coast of China. Piracy flourished in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, when various adventurers
attacked Spanish ships, carrying gold and silver stolen in South America to their homeland.

This period was later given a romantic atmosphere thanks to books, Hollywood movies and among others. Stories of pirates
are characterized by a specific atmosphere, with repeated threads of Spanish galleons, hidden treasures, to which leads
a mysterious map, coral reefs, wild jungles of the Caribbean, a black flag with a white skull and crossbones.

What's more interesting in addition to piracy of a typically bandit type of pirate-oriented private pirates, an official
institutionalized form of piracy has also been developed, protected by rulers of state.
