I just received the smoker for Christmas, haven't used it yet but I am hoping it works better than the app. I understand the app has no impact on the functionality of the smoker but it certainly does not look good or instill confidence in the consumer. Recipes are easy enough to come by but if it is advertised then it should work. Fix it and I'll change my review.
I just got a pit boss lexington 540 and the unboxing was great. However, when trying to set up my account through the pit boss app, it keeps telling me there is an i/o failure and refuses to let me create an account and gain access to any of the features that are available. Please help me out.
Like all the other pit boss app, this thing is pure, unadulterated garbage. The entire thing, from the sign up process, Bluetooth, wifi access etc. Is just a hot dumpster fire. This thing is the CNN of BBQ apps.
App is shït . Never was able to connect . The smoke it app works better but still not as good as Traeger and their app. Wish I wouldn't have bought this unit. Over priced for a cooker I still have to continually have to go our and adjust temperature due to the fact it DOES NOT STAY ON SET TEMPERATURE
If I could rate lower I would. I'm not even sure what the app is because it forcably closes anytime I attempt to open it. If you aren't going to put actual effort in the app, then delete it. I just spent $900 on the combo grill and smoker. A working app would be nice
This app is absolute garbage. First of all you have to sign up just to use it. I only want the blue tooth feature for my smoker and cannot use it thanks to poor development. I am getting a "bad json" message when I try to create an account with my email and when I try Facebook it says the app is in development mode and does not have permission. Great job guys. Way to ensure your app even works before releasing it. You need to have a skip account setup feature, such BS.
This much be developed by the same people that developed the smoke it app. We spent a lot of money for their product, and they have this archaic super slow and glitchy app? I'm sorry to say but someone out there could come up with a better interface and user experience. I know it doesn't do anything to say it here, but please update this dang thing. Make it worth the time to download it, and try to navigate it.
800 dollar grill is awesome so far. The app on the other hand isnt worth 2 dead flys. I'm pretty sure a room full of drunk monkeys could have figured something way better out. I like to name one feature of the app for example but the whole damn thing is is junk.
Doesn't connect through face book or Twitter like it says it will and just flat out setting up an account doesn't work. Keep getting i/o failures. If you try to add a profile Pic it just shuts the app down. Might be the worst app I have ever used.
Will not even let you log in or use anything. I love all of the units I own. But app does nothing very disappointed in the app. Especially mpst of all I was looking forward to using it as it was advertised. But ended up being wast of memory spacer on my phone
App opens and then goes to an error screen if using the Facebook link. If using the email button, you key in your info to set up an account, then it says I/O Error. I think I'll buy another brand smoker/grill and use their apps if this is how Pit Boss does business.
Just bought the Lockhart, $800 ,with tax. First experience was with the app. Downloaded and don't work! Won't even let me register!!! Part of the reason I bought this model was because of the app!! Now to decide whether I cut my loses and return the whole thing. If you are going to advertise an app and promote it, make it work. First impression of Pit Boss is not very good right now!! Ugh
Guys, your app is completely unusable. First time I tried to register, the app crashed. Second and third time, I was presented with a terrible toast message that's only useful for a dev. It said 'bad JSON response.' It doesn't even look like you have the app connected to a Facebook or Twitter developer account, because you can register those ways either. I know development isn't cheap. I'm an Android developer. But if you're going to plaster ads for the app on the boxes your grills come in, please make sure the app works. Sad thing is, this probably isn't even a complex app either. It'd probably take me a couple of hours to squash the bugs. I really hope the grill I just bought works better than the app.
Good app for smoking recipes relating to your pit boss. The only downside is they don't keep all the recipes in the app. So when u find one that works super well for u and that u love, you might want to write it down. Eventually it can get cycled out of the app.
After creating an account, it consistently displays an "Invalid entry" message using the information I just entered into the app over and over again. So, Uninstall!
I have attempted to login to this app numerous times since I purchased the grill anout 4 months ago. I have not been able to connect no matter which option that I choose! I like the grill, I would like to say the same for the app, but I would be lying if I did! please fix the problem!
122 1-Star reviews this is alarming correct the issue. This app doesn't work for nothing its, garbage. It won't load I spent way too much money on my smoker and was excited about the app, but I was saddened by the fact it wont let me sign in. The Smoker works great but I know the tech department has nothing to do with the smoker.
Epic failure. App deserves 0 stars. I can't even make an account to use it. If you're gonna market a grill with wifi/Bluetooth connectivity you should make an app that works to go along with it.
If there was an option for zero stars I would pick it here. Never even got signed up. App keeps crashing and won't let me register.
false advertisement..... the Box shows downloading app and you'll get to do all this nice stuff I guess what doesn't work. they got to know this from all the bad reviews it got. they have failed to deliver I working app hopefully the smoker doesn't fail to deliver. I plan on calling them on Monday and chewing someone's ass maybe it'll make a difference maybe it won't but here's to hoping.
218 1-star reviews, no responses from Dansons, and the app hasn't been updated since 2018... but they can advertise on grills/smokers that have just come out about this app. Though I like my Pit Boss smoker thus far, it is very discerning and hard to keep faith in a product or company when you come across something like this. #SHOULDHAVEBOUGHTATRAEGER
Can we get a 3rd party to fix this!? Going through the reviews. It looks like this app hasn't ever worked since at least 2018! It has been over 2 years! Every review is a 1 star! Is this even legal for a company to continue to sell its products in the future to the public with false advertising? They know the app has never worked and no response from the company!? I tried to sign up. DOSE NOT WORK! Being able to connect from my phone was why I bought this grill. I purchased July/2020
Neither app works. Installs, but the one app is white screen. The second app keeps giving IO failure when I try to create account. PITT BOSS needs to put an app out that actually works and takes these down or fix'em.
So far, not so good. Can't get any of the apps to work. Can't creat account on one, the other just gives you a pretty white screen. Don't sell it if it doesn't work. Hopefully they see all these bad reviews and get it fixed...
App is useless. Love the grill, thought the app would be a great compliment. Unable to even log in with my active account. I agree with a prior review; don't advertise the app on your products if you don't plan to support it.
Won't even let me log in. Obviously your business plan has an extremely high focus on marketing and quite the opposite on IT. Hopefully quality of your product is closer to marketing. I'll use the Treager app for recipes and when my Pit Boss quits I'll replace it with a Treager.
Yeah, don't event try with this. All the other reviews are correct. Setting aside the disdain I have for anything that requires me to register an account with the company after I've already spent the money, i/o error is all you'll ever get.
I can't even register. My BF has an account, but when he tries to sign in it doesn't recognize his information. This would have been a nice feature, but why bother advertising an app that doesn't even work.
App downloads and that is the extent of content. Can't log in with Facebook also tryed setting up account and that won't connect either.
Doesn't work Both the PitBoss apps are horrible. Try to open the other app and it doesn't work. Smoke IT app is better works most of the time. But if you live in an older house like I do it's harder to stay connected to the grill or smoker Bluetooth/ wifi connection doesn't always stay connected. Works pretty good when connected.
