PitchLab Guitar Tuner (LITE)

Hands-free tuning for guitar and other acoustic instruments. Designed for novices and pros, fully featured, 100% free.
PitchLab PRO now available: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.musician.tuner

Unique features help you work out the chords to new tunes, visualize the pitch and consistency of the human voice, violin or other instrument, or answer the questions "what notes am I humming", "what are those chords", "am I hitting all the notes in tune", "is my vibrato consistent" etc. Select from a list of common instrument tunings or quickly create and manage your own using the built-in tuning editor.

Five separate visualization modes:

1) Instrument: Combination radial strobe and string/note indicators for easy instrument tuning. Includes a database of common tunings for Guitar, Violin/Fiddle, Mandolin, Ukulele, Banjo, Bouzouki and Pedal Steel, plus a built-in editor for up to 100 user-defined instrument tunings.

2) Dial & Strobe: Combination dial tuner and innovative linear strobe for rapid and extremely accurate hands-free instrument tuning (this linear strobe is a genuine implementation of the strobe-tuner concept, not a decorative imitation).

3) Spectrogram: Scrolling display of live sound analysis, showing the perceived pitch of a wide range of sound types (including human voices and singing).

4) Chords: Grid-based estimation display of common chord types (maj/min, maj7/min7, dom7/dim7), ideal for quickly determining the 'strum along' chords for a tune where the chords are reasonably clear.

5) BigStrobe: A large, single strobe display, optimized for small screen devices.

These visualization modes are easily accessed by swiping the screen left/right or by pressing & holding the tuner display to get a pop-up view selection menu. User-selectable options are accessed via the MENU button or the pop-up view selection menu and include support for custom temperaments.

Loved it when it had the full bar strobe in it, now it is barely worth opening... Can I install a preupdate version or what was the patent issue (meaning where can I get what I need). If I can get a prior version or help getting the ful strobe I need I will gladly give 5 stars. This was a great tuner until that was removed... BTW still is mildly Ok for guitar, but the removed tuner was what I use for tuning pianos, it was literally that good...

The app goes beyond what a tuner can do. my tone def wife can see what note she is singing usually a b flat. my kids enjoy making the lights stop blinking, enhancing their ability to hit a solid note in almost a game kinda way. Its free , its on my phone, i can't say enough good. ads don't pop great work

They remover the only view I cared about in the latest update. I have the pro version too, but I didn't even use it because I liked the full view where you see the exact current chord/notes in relation to all the others. I guess now I won't use this app, until they put it back. I'll be happy to change my rating to 5 stars when that happens.

Interesting pricing structure: download pro for free and get very few options and no ads (until you pay of course), or, download "lite" version and get all features for free but with ads that are actually less intrusive than the ads on the pre-payment pro app. So... if you don't mind a small advert banner, lite is better. Everything works fine, more features than I'm ever likely to use. Happy bunny.

This app caused huge bug on my Trend Plus, after I launch it, sound goes permamently low everywhere (including alarm and ring), and earphones won't work at all. Only restart fixes this behavior. It's a shame, because app does great job at what its meant to do, but this bug ruins everything. Almost got late for work once. Then had to reboot my phone before sleep everytime until I identified the cause. Please fix. Edit: I use new phone now, work fine here, didn't check if issue was fixed for older phone.

Wonderful app. It has wonderfully transformed my guitar playing world, striking those notes on acoustic guitar and feeling the real thing because the notes sustain the right pitch on every day play. Don't go for less. The app developed my tonality in the course of use and time. Kudos!¿

Where do I begin. I've download and tried at least 10 other tuners before, including paid apps, and this FREE app trumps them all. The different modes are simple to use and highly accurate, and unlike other apps *cough* ultimate guitar *cough* it doesn't persistently advertise the pro version or make you pay extra for important things like alternate tunings. It's very fun to use the highly visual modes to watch the notes you play light up. This app is 10/10, and I can't wait to try the pro version.

Absolutely no need to get the pro version. This does all you will need it to do. I just now used it to tune a fiddle and had fun watching the different readings/screens. I recommend using the default screen until it says 'in tune' then using the needle to fine tune it. I love how it also tells you the exact frequency being played and being able to set a custom reference frequency. A-432 all the way! ;)

Before i dont know how to tune my accostic guitar but when i try this app its very simply and easy to use and understand, just tune while turning the string individually and observing the guide, you will see ,whether high or low put it on the center finished. Very nice app.

I've been using this app for over a year now for home and backstage tuning. I find it be the most stable and accurate free app tuner so far.

that DOESN'T cause seizures :P used to be my fave. uninstalling and will search for a backup before it was 'updated' or, barring that, will find another app. too bad. it was nice while it lasted =sigh=

Thanks to the developers, this tuner is very handy and easy to use. No need to buy costly tuners, which cant even provide all the features. Its actualy a life saver for those who cannot tune manually.

Kev. C. Sep 17, 2017

Have used this in a noisy pub, and it still honed in on my guitar. Very accurate.

The. R. W. Jul 17, 2017

It's still a wonderful tuner. It's not as full of eye candy as it used to be. It's still probably one of the best free guitar tuners out there. They've stripped it down completely. If you want all the really good bells and whistles by the pro for $0.99.

raj. k. Nov 27, 2016

I like this app though it doesn't has Cello instrument but I could able to add it in custom and use it :)

pri. b. Jul 21, 2017

It used to work like a gem but now it can't even recognise any sound. Despite giving permission for the microphone it's not working.

Kot. W. Jan 17, 2016

Its not quite tuning my guitar but has awesome little app features. I was tempted to give lower than 3 stars but because it was free I was also tempted to give higher. Thank you but am uninstalling.

Kev. M. Nov 22, 2015

Loved it until the latest update. I was planning on buying pro till you removed the panel with all the mini tuners. That's all I ever used and now it's gone forever :'(

Sim. H. Feb 22, 2017

Really easy to use , really practical , if you play guitar and want to tune it in other way than standard , this is the perfect app 10/10

This is the best app ever. I am an educated classical vocalist and I'm so happy with this software, I cannot explain myself in words. Brilliant is an understatement . God Bless you . :) Please keep working on it. I'd be glad to help you guys with ideas . :)

Anu. H. Dec 4, 2015

Somebody patented the state of having a useful app that people enjoy using apperently. Now it's BS. I can use any app for those cut and past tuner modes. Uninstalled.

Sid. M. Nov 28, 2015

Recitors give it a try. After all its word of God that deserves much more buetification effort then narrow thought lyrics. BarakAllah.

Dan. A. Aug 26, 2016

The best so far, I like how it works & also how you can choose you're instrument

Jef. M. Dec 6, 2016

I notice when i use daddario ordinary string in 1 month use the string out of tune. When comes to Elixir string EADGBA all are accurate. Highly recommeded i use this app in my business guitar intonation. Guitarist for 12 years. Tnx pitch lab 👍

Great for on the fly, but no replacement for a real tuner. Can't tune bass very well either.

A. G. u. Jun 25, 2017

Damn, I used this in the past and loved it, now it is broken beyond belief! Oh well, that's why we can remove it and forget about it. Sigh.
