I'm unable to purchase songs that I like from the Google Play Music store that are identified by this app. there is no button that will take you to the song or album so you can purchase or add to your wish list. asking the assistant and the hitting the buy button just brings up a blank screen. it's a minor inconvenience, but it seems intuitive.

No longer working very well , used to always identify songs on my Pixel 2 when they were playing.. since I've started using my Pixel 3 XL it's literally useless.. spent a whole day listening to music, not one song was picked up *Update* The function works when I uninstall the update and use the version that was installed with the phone. But when I install the new version it doesn't identify any songs..

While with Android 9 it was working fine on my Pixel 3a, the latest update made it so the double tap wakes the phone completely. Since I find the always on display distracting, the update made this app almost completely useless. The wake on new notifications still works correctly, but without a led the notifications are quite easy to miss. It would be awesome if there was the option to make the "wake on new notifications" persistent until the notification is checked. I hope this can be fixed :(

The apps okay. However, it needs to be changed. When I tap to wake my screen it completely opens to the lock screen, instead of showing the ambient clock with the black background. I miss that feature and how it looked on the older versions of Android OS. When I tap my screen to wake, it should appear like it does on the pixel charging stand.

The "Now Playing History" function is buried in the Android settings. There's no app shortcut in the app drawer. Adding the action shortcut to a home screen doesn't persist across reboots. That's my primary complaint. It does a decent job of detecting regionally-appropriate music; a worse job of identifying soundtracks or international music.

My phone is the best When music is playing nearby, it will automatically show up on your lock screen. With just a tap, save the song to a playlist or open it in your favourite apps. This works in real time; knowledge about thousands of songs has been built into your phone. This means no audio is ever stored on your phone or sent to Google to identify music, and it can even work offline.

I love how it identifies songs that are playing in the environment I'm in. It eliminates that experience where you find a song you really like that's playing out in public but you can't remember the name so that you can download it. The song info displays on my Pixel's screen so I never have to worry about missing out on great music!

Unlike the experience others seem to be having, it picks up songs surprisingly well for me. It's missed maybe 10 over the last year of over 1000 songs and picks up on some I'd think were too niche. My only problem is the lack of export. They only let you export if you have YouTube music (barf) and even then, there's no "export all" and the app crashes if you select more than about 50 songs

Not sure what happened. I have all gestures turned off, and the phone has a mind of its own. Screen turns on randomly, double tap to wake works when it wants to, ambient display pops up randomly whether I set the phone down, take it out of my pocket, or have it plugged in to charge. These issues are becoming very bothersome. Who tests these software updates? Google wants to replace my phone. It's not the phone, it's your software!!

For "now paying", it used to show a notification I could click on and see more info automatically but now when I click the notification it launches assistant and expects me to ask about the song. Wth? I am usually in an environment that is not conducive to asking out loud about the song, so it has reduced the value of the now playing feature to near zero. Furthermore, if I simply wanted to launch the assistant and ask about the song I would launch the assistant the normal way.

It's concerning that Google does not include and change details when pushing updates to their applications. I expect all developers to state what is changing in the most current version, especially if it's being pushed through the play store. Please set a good example for the other Android developers and implement some sort of change control/documentation.

Not configurable. Android 10 shrunk the clock, & it's even smaller when notifications are present, with no way to adjust it's size. I REALIZE EVERYONE AT GOOGLE IS YOUNG, BUT SURELY SOME OF YOU WEAR GLASSES, BUT NOT IN BED! Why can't I make it bigger so I can see it!? Date is missing sometimes (still not sure why, maybe also notifications), which means having to unlock the phone to check (do I really have to go back to wearing a watch!?). Weather is there, whether you want it or not.

Android 10 broke the Pixel Stand app. It glitches the night light feature on and off when night light is on, doesn't turn the screen off in the dark all the time, and doesn't wake the phone when single tapped to see just the time and notifications on a black screen; only double tap and the bright lock screen with wallpaper pops up. Please fix it to the convenient way it used to be!

I love ambient screen but on two Pixel 3 devices now, the ambient screen flashes bright white when it first gets a notification while the screens asleep. The whole screen flashes white. It's really annoying. Both phones are brand new with stock apps. Factory reset or reboot doesn't solve. AlwaysOn set to OFF and new notifications set to ON. PLEASE FIX THIS ON PIXEL 3.

worked much better on my P2XL. intermittent at best on my P3XL. read forums, tried work-arounds, uninstalled, managed notifications, etc...finally got it to show songs playing from outside sources, but still doesnt work on streaming music i have playing on my phone. its like the microphone isnt enabled when the speakers are being used?? please respond. thanks

Something is very wrong. Two different Pixel 3s, one a complete replacement from Google, have develooed horrible screen flicker/flash issues when the brightness is 60% or less. I believe I've narrowed it down to either ambient display or issues with adaptive brightness. Inexcusable for a 3rd generation flagship phone with this price tag.

*Edit: I now understand this is an Android issue, not this app. Info I read was not clear on this point. This app causes my screen to flash upon locking, and also when I receive notifications. I want to use it, but can't. It's especially dangerous when driving, particularly at night- phone mounted on my dash, flashes right in my face. Supposed to have been fixed w/update but wasn't. Now getting a phone replacement.

Updated Review: On my Pixel 4 XL, Adaptive Battery automatically started restricting Pixel Ambient Services, and I couldn't get Now Playing to work. I had to troubleshoot this and remove the restriction myself in settings. 4 stars instead of five because it works, but not out of the box. This was the feature I came back to a Pixel for after two generations with a Note phone. Original review: It doesn't work. I'm places where the music is super loud, for a store anyway, and no dice.

If i could give it zero stars, i would. Why did you remove the ambient display feature for double tap to wake/lift phone when not always on? This one feature is enough for me to downgrade to pie if its not fixed. I wanted to like the new software, but i guess ill have to install a custom rom that does have this feature.

Now playing works about 10% of the time. The new search icon never appears after I've turned it on in the settings. Just a very disappointing feature

Horrible app! This is the third Google phone that I have used this app. It has gotten worse every single phone. It also disappears all the time. I cannot find it on my phone again. Literally disappears.

Now playing is gone from lock screen and the option vanished from the settings too. The widget does give you some history of songs that played around you but there is NO switch or button you can just tap to make it do what the name says and tell you what is playing RIGHT NOW. You have to be lucky to find a song in history later but some just don't show up. I don't understand this. Why not provide a microphone button?

I updated my Pixel 3 to Android 10. Since then, double tap or lift to wake skips the ambient display and goes right to the lock screen. Unlike previous versions like 9. It used to display minimal notification icons and the time and weather. (Like Always on Display but only on when lift or double tap.)

The song identifier is subtle enough for users like me.. who prefer not to have a separate application for each "convenience" function. Just like the red barcode scanner apps and others... it's only a matter of time before it's just "hardwired" into our smart devices.

So bummed! I just upgraded my Pixel 3a to Android 10 on October 1st and wish I never did. I upgraded my phone from HTC 10 to Pixel 3a and it was like going from a junker car to a Cadillac. I loved Pie. I loved the ambient display! My fav. I loved how when I used the timer on the clock and it would ring the clock ap stayed on my screen. Now I have to hunt for it, like I did on my HTC to reset it. It all sounds trivial but it's what I used. Don't mess with the good. Just improve it.

this works be a really nice app... IF it worked on my phone. apparently it worked great on the pixel 2, but on the pixel 3 it works very sparingly - most days it doesn't pick up any songs at all. on good days it picks up about 1 out of 6 songs playing.

Phone constantly has battery drain. Even went idol. When I am on a call the other person's voice cuts out ( checked with At&t, It's not them). I am thinking.. bad mic? The camera is really cool ,except for the fact .. When I try to take pictures of the moon , storm clouds, rainbows... from far away .. in any seeing choice you can't get the wide angle shot. So in order to get a nice wide angle shot, you have to buy the lens that shoots wider images/scenes. The camera has awesome resolution.

the newest version prompts the OS to push a notification with sound that is distracting, and has no clear way of turning it off. i love this feature, but i may have to turn it off or uninstall until they fix this.

After upgrading to Android 10 my double tap or raise too wake will no longer show the ambient display screen. It will show the full lock screen which is not ideal in dark situations. Now the only option is to have ambient display always on which is a battery waster. Please fix
