Bought this app in 2016 and was very pleased with it. Lately when I've wanted to get information about a plane all the app gives me is a red "Connection failed" error message. I've not changed any settings on my phone so something is wrong somewhere. This error message has been reported elsewhere but no fix has been provided. Might as well uninstall it and use the space for another app.
An awful app - I had the iOS version of this app for years and it worked brilliantly. But since changing to this android version for the S10+ it constantly loses connection ( even when connected to wi-fi) it doesn't show most flights which appear on Flightradar24, and it has far less functionality than the iOS version. This app wouldn't be worth having on your phone even it is was free.
Plane Finder is an app I've used over nearly a decade. Having seen it on Android and iOS there are differences. I've gone back to Android and noticed it needs developing to make it look more appealing and have the functionality of the iOS version. Nevertheless, this is a great app and one I have no issues buying. Please keep up the developing on this great app.
Would have been five stars, but, the X and Y axis are swapped in augmented reality mode, making it useless. (fully up to date Pixel 2 XL) I compared it to an ADS-B program with an SDR dongle, and the app missed some planes that the receiver picked up, and the receiver missed some that the app displayed, so that's an even trade off in my opinion. I'm eagerly awaiting the software update that fixes this that support told me was coming.
Complete waste of money. I switched to this app after using Flight Radar 24 for several years and do not want to pay a subscription for any app. Not all flights are shown on Plane Finder, the screen flickers on the flights page making sections of the screen illegable, and the filter section does not work at all. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
Developer abandoned Android version. The Android version hasn't been updated in over a year yet it appears the Apple version is updated every several months. The apple version is way better than this junk.
This was absolutely NOT worth the €4.99. The pictures are just a very refined version. You cant even use an account with this. The UI looks bad, everything looks, and fuctions bad. Definetly not worth the money you pay for it.
I spent £4.99 on this app so that I could watch my daughter's flight across the Atlantic without annoying adverts and pop ups. At first all was fine until she reached Greenland where the plane disappeared off the screen. I found this very worrying and in a slight panic I opened up Flightradar 24 where her flight was clearly visible, phew! On Plane Finder, other planes were missing in the area, whilst some where still there. All planes on this app had lost their company icons and flight details. My daughter's flight eventually reappeared as she passed Quebec. Other flights around her where still missing from this app. Frankly, I wish I had saved my money. I would have paid for Flightradar 24, but they are greedy and want a subscription. This app is a waste of money!
Have been using this app for some time on ios and have always found it to be incredible with so much information. However, I have just changed to Android, purchased the app and remain extremely disappointed. Very little information in comparison to the ios version with no aircraft history of previous flights etc. Why? Feel a bit ripped off!
Not so good as it was! I have been using the paid version of this app for many years, and was a great fan. For some reason, it is now impossible to switch off alerts which, for me, is very annoying. Sadly, I have needed to uninstall this app, and am now using a different offering which also includes many additional features. Would have been a 5 star rating, otherwise.
Very easy to use and search for specific flights to follow. I use it every time my family travels to keep up with their flight. It's also entertaining to see where flights I see overhead are going and where they came from. Please increase aircraft type information and photos. Great free app!
This app is good for when I want to browse around the sky and see what aircraft are above me. However, the filters don't usually work as when I type in Saab, no aircraft match it. Same with Boeing 737-700. And when I switch one filter on, another one is also switched on.
I really do like the application, I just wish that Android had the same UI as the iOS version. The application UI is a lot more organised on iOS, and has a nicer look and feel to it. I do not like iOS as of right now, and that is why I use an Android phone, but iOS apps, generally, do look nicer. So that's my only complaint about the app, but otherwise it's great. I hope this review was helpful to some of you, but even if the UI situation sways you, I would still recommend this app. Aidan
I have this on my MAC also but the information doesn't match e.g. a Socata TB-10 Tobago light aircraft is showing as an airliner...not a light aircraft and the height differs between 100ft between the app and the web version. There are many aircraft with incorrect icons. Also watching aircraft at an aerodrome, but aircraft didn't show in app. The app needs a lot of work...waste of money at the moment.
On Android 10, running on Pixel 3 XL, when tapping an aircraft label and getting into the "Overview" page, the bottom part of screen starts flickering without control. "Flight" & "Aircraft" pages are always fine. This flickering happens on my phone, only with this app.
Not as polished as & lacking many of the options available in similar subscription based apps. It's a very good app for free. If they offered more options/information I would happily pay for this app as long as they did not go the subscription route.
On the whole very good. One blip I've experienced has been clicking on what seems to show as a glider, then clicking again for more details I am then taken out of the app completely. Has happened on number of occasions.
Used to be great, but I've lost nearly all coverage of SYD and the Australian east coast main routes. I advised Plane Finder and they said they had a problem - 2 weeks later and it still hasn't been fixed. Now 20 April - still no real coverage of SYD - very disappointing. Used to be great.
Obviously this is different to flightradar24 (fr24) and that is to be expected. In my view it would be helpful, in userbility terms, to display aircraft details, cf fr24, when selecting an aircraft instead of selecting a new page. Otherwise happy that, unlike fr24, this app is not subscription based and thus my decision to purchase.
I live near an airport and can see large planes taking off and landing. When I look at the app they have no record of them. Also a lot of the functionality and options offered in this app don't work. I would not buy this again nor recommend it to others.
Disappointed after switching to Android. Have been using app on iOS device for years and was pleased with it. However, have now switched to an android phone and bought the full version of the app again. Am disappointed as this version has much less functionality. In particular, the playback function does not seem to exist. I found this feature particularly useful on the iOS version, and am not happy to lose it.
