Was hesitant to download at first because of other reviewers talk of problems, "Didn't purchase" problems and issues with newer Android versions. But decided to take the risk and I am glad I did. So far it is just as I remember it from the original except for sharper, cleaner graphics and better audio soundtrack. It is running fine for me on my new Galaxy s20+ with Android 10. The screen is slightly smaller than the recommended 7" but it is still manageable, even with my "fat fingers."
Fantastic game. Famed for good reason. Story, visual design, and world all pulled me in. Very unique! Also great sounds & good GUI. It's a dialogue-driven story. Don't be put off by starting in the weird mortuary; they are not the bad guys, there's a whole city, and this world is a different culture. Characters are great. You can change class any time. Plus lim-lims! Tons of guidance online. Amazing story. Interface has small buttons for phone, but am playing on my Note without a stylus.
PERFORMANCE: As the stated minimum requirements are quite vague, first off I want to say that I'm running this game at 40FPS with max settings on a Samsung Galaxy A3 2017. If you're wondering how it would perform on your device then I recommend you look up my specs on gsmarena and compare my CPU and RAM to your own. USABILITY: It's a tiny screen for a title like this (4.7") but I'm just happy to be playing this on my phone. Fine selections on a screen this small are tough but doable if you have the patience. I have yet to get into any serious combat, but I suspect I will be using the pause function quite a lot to compensate for my inaccuracy. I may end up experimenting with a tiny stylus. TEXT READABILITY: Look, on a 4.7" screen... it's okay. If you have a blue-light filter on your phone it might even be comfortable. I need more time to evaluate this. GAMEPLAY (UI): One feature I already wish was implemented is the ability to auto loot item drops in an area by taping a button on the bottom left panel. Because it would save a lot of scanning for loot and trying to tap on tiny piles. I'd also love it if loot laying on the ground was highlighted - shaded an fluctuating lighter color or slowly sparkling. Subtle movements such as these are great ways to convey new /relevant info to the player. MUSIC: I'm loving it so far. It's pretty high quality stuff. DIALOGUE: Heh, I think this is going to be fun. (((This is an in progress review. I will update it as I play more))) PLAYTIME SO FAR: +/- 20min
For the android experience, is an excellent port. I playing it on Redmi 9 and game goes fantastic and buttons work very well. If you like this kind of game is a nice thing to have in the phone, just for play half an hour before sleep or as an emergency if not PC! This is like the fourth time i buy the same game, no regrets at all. PS:T is a unique classic. Game brings by default, gameplay options that the original Planescape hasn't even after the resolution fix+patches. Totally decent port.
Decent port of the original game! You play "The Nameless One" on your journey to discover the source of your immortality. Auto pause is a must due to mobile controls. Entire game took me roughly 50 hours to complete to attain the 'good' ending. I did not see any game crashes or bugs in my playthrough. I highly recommend this to any western RPG fans out there looking for a classic to revisit!
Idk, I was totally able to get this to work on Chome. It works fine actually minus the F1 through F5 keys not being available on Chrome OS, but yeah, it totally works. Even with a mouse it works, double-clicking for quick inventory managament, left click mouse panning, "Q" is quicksave, "WASD" pulls up various menus, "I" for inventory, "Back" functions as the "ESC" key. I'm totally impressed, it basically functions like a Linux port for Chrome which runs in Andriod (as long as your device supports Playstore integration, I guess) It's a tiny bit jank, but it's more than functional. Now I want to try the rest of the Beamdog remastered collection to see if they work in Chrome OS as well. Hopefully the Devs respond and might update their info on this page to include partial Chrome OS integration as well. I'm very impressed.
playing in 2020 and it's an incredible game. it's NOT too small for phones but a tablet would be better ofc. Everything runs fine for me on a pretty old phone (Moto g5s), except sometimes major lag when moving all my party around. Not sure why it does it but it's not bad enough to ruin my experience with the game, just a bit tedious when it happens.
Beautiful old-school style Dungeons and Dragons isometric CRPG. This game is focused more on story and lore than on combat, which I love. Note, this also means that when you create your character you really should focus on mental attributes rather than on the physical stats. This will allow you to get the most out of the game. Also, these stats will make you a powerful mage, which is an awesome class that can make up for any shortcomings in your physical stats. Buy it! By the way, it's important to mention that I'm playing this on an ACER Chromebook, not on a phone or tablet. It works beautifully and the mouse controls work just like they would on a windows PC. All in all, this is as good as an RPG can get.
Heads up to anyone buying this, it's made for a tablet. However I bought this on my Samsung S7 and it works wonderfully! Be mindful that the text is really tiny though however if you get a stylus you have no problems. It is possible to play with your finger on a 5-inch screen but it's difficult. This is a faithful Recreation of the PC port
Controls are pretty rough. You end up having to zoom in and out a lot to click on specific exact items or enemies. Its a port of an old game so i cant smash on it too hard but its a hard narrative/quest line to follow and combat really isnt satisfying. Not a bad game just not really made for mobile.
Fantastic story-driven RPG! Deep lore, and really satisfying quests with very well-written and engaging dialogue. Read everything! Earn exp from delving into conversations to gain knowledge, and solve mysteries. No quest markers, just a journal! Well developed NPCs and party members with their own stories. If nothing I've said appeals to you, chances are this isn't for you. But give it a try maybe, research starting stats, because it MAY affect your enjoyment if you make poor choices.
Great game. I've had is some stuttering/frame lag. Possibly due to my phone. Also the game window for some reason is fairly small on screen. Possibly from old res sizes, but it makes reading harder. A way to adjust the window or up the max text size would be great. Not an app dev at all, sorry if that's way harder than it sounds.
A fun port but a lot of spells do literally nothing. Chromatic Orb and Elysium's tears can be cast, even on myself, and they won't do anything. No messages about not being effective or missing, no damage, nothing at all. Ice daggers seems to work fine. Maybe I'm missing something? Also if you tab out and back in the background music stops. Have to load a save or new area to get it back.
Absolutely fantastic game on PC and tablet, but I can't recommend it on a phone at all. Even my oneplus 8t is too small for the UI, and there is no way to scale it any bigger. I say definitely give it a go on a tablet but anything under 7" is going to have trouble being played.
One of the best games ever made. The story and the writing are both high-quality and engaging, and there are hundreds of unique NPCs to talk to, every one of them with their own little stories and tales to tell. All of this taking place in a bizarre and brutal—yet strangely beautiful—world, with a lot of lore and mysteries to discover. You play your way, you make your own choices and, ultimately, you shape the game the way you want it to be, resulting in an unparalleled immersive experience.
Its functional but the UI needs some rework and scaling increase. Bit difficult to play on android but doable with a stylus pen to select things. Just needs to be updated is all and I'd recomend it to my friends.
At first I was very happy playing the game for the first few hours. Interesting setting, funny floating skull ect. But now it's no longer fun to PLAY the game. It's been suffering horrible slow down making everything grinds to a halt. Lag, slowdown, freezing what ever you call it take a good game and rams it into the ground. Please fix this or tell us what the problem is. I was enjoying this so much.
Game itself is a masterpiece 10/10 - interactive book As it comes to app: - Fps were always dropping but due to character of the game you can take slower approach - Small screen is not a big problem as well - You just have to pause almost every fight constantly because touch screen is not a mouse and keyboard
I love Beamdog, and I love this game. It probably plays better on a tablet, but it's almost unplayable on a mobile. Tiny text even with the biggest font size that's unresponsive to touch and needs to be pressed twice to register on an equally tiny confirm button. It's my bad for not figuring that this game just isn't suitable for a phone.
Don't buy this if you don't play it on tablet. Buttons in the menu is too small and not respond well to tap. Also the the game can rotate itself and scale itself to an unplayable game and when you try to rotate your phone it won't fix. I totally regret my purchase. For a paid game it have major bugs even before the game started. I wish I can have my money back
if you are interested in this game after playing baldur's gate or games alike, you'll find the combat gameplay very dissapointing, (you don't need to develop any complex strategy to finish it). I think is better to see this as a point and click adventure game with a really beautiful writing, covering many existencialists dilemmas. The android port works excelent, im playing in a lenovo8 tablet, i dont recomend this for phone users because the screen would be very small.
A 1999 hd update so to speak,Only two hours in haven't much experience of pc games so I seek out there biggest ones I've missed, this is one of thiers, and a very in depth one at that, the writing is great really though, you can use dialogue or combat point and click type of battles,to deal with situations, but overall good up to now,
This game is NOT suitable for playing on a normal sized phone. I have just purchased the game and had a headache looking at the screen. Tried to seek refund but Google play said it was not their policy so money wasted. Could continue playing but would simply be too much of a headache and I have perfectly good eyesight. Maybe it might be playable if it were for someone who has already played the game previously and just wanted to revisit the game.
Best RPG ever. Conversion is quite well done; but a bit outdated already. Movies are not smooth. Playing is a bit hard on 6.5 but totally playable. My wide screen is not supported so I have black stripe on one siee. Still having A LOT OF FUN. Kids here you can learn what does a real RPG looks like
Great game. Stuttering is not uncommon and there is a lot of clicking tiny things for a phone, which gets tedious on a 5.9" display. Didn't see their 7"+ reccomendation before buying but sounds about right. Get it only if you have a tablet or just hop on steam and play it on your desktop/laptop instead.
3 stars because Torment is one of the best RPGs of all time. Not 5 stars because whoever ported this to Android has no concept of UI design. They put the right click actions on the bottom UI bar (good), but made the buttons so thin that even with a stylus or tablet they're still problematic. What is most infuriating about this is there's a huge amount of wasted bar space on either side of the buttons. Why they didn't make the buttons wider and use up every precious bit of UI space is baffling.
