This used to be a decent app, now it's only consistent in being wrong. Most of the time the recommended plant doesn't look anything like the picture I provide. Very disappointed.
Some free apps tend to give more accurate results. I wish it incorporated more picture close up options such as the leaves, stems or seedling images to identify plants with. However when you do find out what the plant is, there is a plethora of infoemation on nearly every result. I'd like there to be a menu of sorts to decide what to do with your snap( post to my wall, ad to clipboard, share with a friend etc, instead all of these options are in separate- tough to find pages.
Installed the free one. EVERY time I uploaded excellent pictures not a single "match" had ANYTHING in common w the photo. Returns had no physical relationship to EACH other! I tested over 50 times with COMMON plants and not once did I get a "match" that had ANY of the characteristics of the "snap". Again, even the returns had no similar qualities. I'm a pretty good photographer, but still retook pics multiple times for each plant. NOTE: the free version does not allow you to send in apic for ID even though the process to send one in is functional. You will wait forever. (confirmed with email to company) Bought the Pro. It won't install and won't re-install. I have asked for a refund.
This app is next to useless. It's only managed to identify a plant correctly 2 or 3 times out of a dozen or so attempts. Most of the suggestions are not just wrong but so far off even a child could see the error. And I've never gotten a response when submitting a photo to their "botanists" to identify.
Honestly, I was hugely disappointed by the app. I paid for the pro version straight away thinking that it was good going by some of the reviews and its popularity on the web. But after it failed to correctly identify all the plants I snapped, I felt bad. It couldn't even identify popular plants like mango and guava. Sometimes it gives you multiple options for you to decide the correct one, which defeats the purpose of the app. I strongly urge the developer to seriously work on the app.
Perhaps I don't fully understand how the app works. Most of the snaps I take don't really identify the species sufficiently to make a decision on my part. Many times, names of plant species are given without an image to compare with my photo. VERY frustrating.
Dose not recognize most of the time, even simple plants from grocery.. Requires registration even for paid version for additional review, extended registration. Zoom functions after taking Photos wonky as best. Constantly zoom in an can zook back out... Only takes one photo when boastes looking at stem pattern Needs many more shoots on plant to see that and leaves. Does not work on trees. Refunded vaporvare
Although it almost always works, there are those days... it errors on some images and can't seem to validate some plants. Overall, I like it and refer friends to use it.
Does a pretty good job of IDing. I'm continually impressed. I wish there was a way to tag photos that are included in a plant listing as needing to be reassessed because some of the photos aren't the right match.
useless. I deleted the app. I had to take tons of pictures to get my plants identified and they all came up the same two species even though I never planted that type. When I finally got one propetly identified, the app froze and I lost it.
This app has been fantastic. I followed the instructions for taking the "snap" and it has been consistently accurate. I use this in Australia, NSW and it identifies both natives and introduced species. Great for helping store plants I love.
Often suggests wrong identification, clearly wrong. I have not heard back when I have submitted photos for is from the developers. still somewhat helpful.
The automatic identification is reasonably accurate, but none of the snaps I've submitted for professional identification were ever answered, even after waiting for months.
Hi, please help out. i upgraded as I am using a lot of this app on my phone, However, my plan failed me as I am not able to install on my laptop. I have tried a few times but still it says an error has occured. Please advise. Thank you.
Donated to cause and was automatically updated with Pro. I stuck with this app and I use it ever so often however I cant wait to travel and explore the app even more! Continued success PlantSnap!
This app is an amazing tool to identify plants. And if they can't get a proper name, they'll send your pictures to botonists to further help you. I've been really pleased with the app.
It takes forever to try and identify a plant and then most often says error. I have tried it with very common plants also and still have trouble
Excellent plant identification. Keeps a photo till I have a WiFi connection. "It does what it says on the tin"!
The app is fairly accurate and if nothing it gives me a good ideal of what to look for in my further research of plant identification.
I tested this app on common and uncommon plants. Infrequently, it IDed the plant. Many of the options offered were quite ludicrous.
i really enjoyed the earlier version because it told the uses for the plant. i really enjoy the app and use it often.
My experience has been great, app does a pretty good job of identifying plants I have questioned. Enjoy using it!
App is not very accurate. Gives different identification with more than one photo of same plant.
Too many options, need for more specific designation, it would help if a geographical designation could be added for the user
Paid for upgraded version after it was recommended because a friend's mom used it. Dumb. Rarely will it identify a plant even if you retry multiple photos of excellent quality. App crashes frequently while searching for plants and trying to click on the poor quality photos uploaded to the site. Horrible waste of money. Oh let me not forget that ads also take up half the top half of the page to buy plants, yes, even in the paid version. So you have to scroll down to find your search results.
