Platter's Wine Guide

Since 1980, Platter's has been the wine-lover's essential guide to exploring the world of South African wine, including ratings of over 8,000 wines and key winery information. The Platter's App for Android is your Platter's "in your pocket" and features all the new edition's ratings, top wine lists and wines of the year. It's also a fantastic reference, as it contains all ratings back to edition 2008.
To note: 1. Platter's app does not have every South African wine label in its database yet
- if you use the scan feature and it fails to find a result, please use manual search! Thanks for understanding.2. This App has been developed for the latest Android devices and all features may not work on earlier versions. Please make sure you are on the latest version. 3. The Platter's App data will be replaced annually at launch of the new printed guide. A subscription allows active App access for one year, from date of subscription purchase, whereafter you will need to renew your subscription. 4. Existing Platter's web users can log in to the App using their current Platter's username and password to access your favourites lists.

Very disappointed. Have been unable to open the app after updating in early December. Says "unfortunately platter has stopped". Deleted and downloaded again. Still the same. And I'm paying for a fulle year subscription!
app keeps on stopping when I select a wine. cannot get to see any details on the wines. wish I'd never bought the online version. I should have just stuck with the good old faithful hard copy.
Thought I was getting the book on my phone. Difficult to navigate. It is definitely NOT the book. Please be more honest in your marketing of the app. Huge disappointment.
Used to be able to see ratings across vintages for individual wines.. But not anymore despite the website advertising the ability to see multiple vintages
I paid the fee and I am still locked out. Pretty useless. Thanks for nothing.
this app is in no way similar to the annual Platter guide. Not worth the money spent.
App is unable to open after update today. Was hoping to see the 2021 ratings.
Great app, would be nice if the wines database went a year or two further back.
Just downloaded this app for the first time and its told me that my account has expired... what a joke

Search function practical on a producer basis. Ratings spot on.
The app doesnt tell you when to drink the wine which I why I bought it. Disappointed
This is a app which you pay for. It should be clearly mentioned.
Update after nearly a year's use. Pretty unhappy with the app, especially being so expensive, one would expect it to work. Awkward to use..One example.(and there are many similar shortcomings) : Want to look up Bonnievale Vertex Cab. Firstly, you have to choose between B'vale Wines and B'vale Range??? What's the difference? Most searches start requiring this silly selection. Anyway, one doesn't have any cabs listed?. The other only has Barrel Selection range. No Vertex range at all in the app, whereas the books have it. My recommendation: Don't buy this app. After being a Platter's book user for years ( got books back to about 1986) - this is a huge disappointment - and there seems to be no effort in improving it.
This app is still only a rental and having paid the full price, you only get to use it for a year. All the various other guides I have paid for and installed, I get to keep and use for as long as I like. Buy the paper copy ... get a much more user friendly version and you still get to use it more than 12 months after having invested your money in the information.
App is hard to use.
I'm about to delete the app because of false advertising. It's not free so I'll continue to be old school and carry the book with me instead...I don't want to even give this app a star but it's the only way to write a review. Disappointing :/
After following LOTS of steps found out it is NOT FREE: installed app using lots of data, directed to website to create an account, then clicked link to find out that one needs to "purchase a 12 month subscription" to use the app. I refuse - keep your NOT FREE APP 😡ðŸ˜
Not free. Needs to be reclassified as a paid app. Requires a subscription which is not done in app but externally.
Doesn't seem to work, besides what everyone is saying in the reviews. It sent me to a website to create an account with password. After doing so and clicking the appropriate link in the email received, it immediately says "your subscription has ended". Most useless app
It does not look as if the developers mind a score of 1.9. Looking at the other reviews, I have to ask the question why must I spend my money here. I had a beta version of this app (free) and I though the interface was frustratingly clumsy.
Misleading. Not free. Subscription service. Rather charge for the app as a once off fee like the Sasol birds app.
I would've loved it if this app was good but it is not. It is crap. I don't mind to pay for quality, but this is hard to navigate, to search and the scanner doesn't ever work. R150 in the water.

Site said the new update for 2017 is availible but there is no place to download or do the update. Please help!!
Absolutely no updates, no current info, a waste of R175 for the very old app
Great content terrible build. You're meant to be able to start typing a brand/wine/region etc and trigger a dropdown list. It works about 50% of the time. When it does work many entries are often missing. Frustrating as it really hampers utility of what would otherwise be a great resource.
