I loved this app! Ps vue is a great streaming alternative to live TV, on demand movies and shows, and has a sleek viewing experience. Watching it on my TV is great, and I wanted to use it on my phone, but I only used it once. That one time was just as great as the app on my fire stick, but after only one or two episodes, I closed the app and turned my phone off for the night, only to come back later and not be able to open the app at all. I come straight to a black screen. So dissapointed.
worst interface of the live TV streaming services I've tried. on demand service is terrible. if you pause something and resume it later, it never resumes in the right place and you have to watch all the commercials to get back. I just opened the app on my phone to watch on bus and I had to watch 3 different sets of commercials before I got to where I left off. then I got home and switched to firestick and it was AHEAD of where I left off by 20 minutes and wouldn't let me rewind. Terrible.
I started a free trial with PlayStation Vue & Directv Now. I was going to continue with Directv Now but you all have this "5 Day" free trial unlike any other which are normally at least 7 Day or longer. So, of course I forgot to cancel before trial was over. Now I'm stuck for a Month. No SEC Network, MTV and the worst I can rarely get the app to cast to my Tv. I don't know if it's you or Chromecast but it's super annoying and both probably need to look into it really. Also, the app can not be controlled through TV I have to use phone. I do like the DVR and you have some of the channels we watch. But not worth it with all the problems. I do appreciate the opportunity to give my review and hope you will take.the problems into consideration. Thank you.
Great option for cord cutting! The subscription prices are very reasonable and the variety of channels is excellent including most local channels. The app works well and is very stable for the most part. There were only a few times where the steam paused for a few seconds. The guide is very easy to navigate. Those that are tied of paying high fees for cable and satellite TV should definitely give this a try!
The service normally looks good. DVR is too short at 30 days. The fact that if i walk away from a paused video for too long, i get sent back to the home screen with no Resume feature. I spend more time trying to continue what I'm watching than i actual get to watch. The pause duration for live tv is also horrible. Hope you dont have to use the restroom.
While I really loved the resolution this service brought to most channels I struggled with the rest. The UI takes too many clicks to get to where you want to go. Unlike YTTV, pausing is a chore. Some channels you can, others you can't, and others it's less than 5min before the show starts again. Recently watched is inconsistent when you try to come back to a show later. YTTV does this well. Turns out many of these issues have been unresolved since inception. I tried this for 2 months to be fair.
I love that there is no contract I receive the same channels I would get with cable. Packages are very reasonable. My only complaints are that shows will sometimes "skip" when live and recorded shows do not pick up where you left off if you have to revisit the next day. They go back to a certain point and it is not where you left off. Still highly recommend.
The channel options are great! I especially like the menu set up and navigation. It took a day or two to get used to, but now that I have, it's very easy and intuitive! Love the DVR storage and having separate profiles for my wife and kids. We got rid of satellite TV a few years ago. I'm getting as much or more from Playstation VUE for about half what I was paying for satellite.
Vue freezing when you start the app? I've figured out the fix. It works for me and my Galaxy S9 anyway. So the app freezes when you open it or reopen it. Here is the simple fix.... if the app is frozen and unresponsive when you start it..... simply press the back button on your android once (yes the button at the bottom of your phone to the right of the home button) and the app will work just fine. Hope it works for you too.
When and if the app actually loads it's fine. I can browse through my channels and select what I want to watch. The browsing is a little laggy but I get where I want to go. My biggest problem is I can't even use the app because it doesn't load. I waited for 15 minutes and all I got was the blue screen. You'd think paying for the service would ensure that the app would at least start
After having watched two NFL preseason games with both of them being interrupted by the stream stopping multiple times and the app tells me to pick another show I'm now giving it until the first regular season game, and if it happens then, I'm will cancel my subscription. The channel selection and guide feature beats any other streaming service, and this is why I'm still sticking around, but things like this just destroys the whole experience.
Cutting the cord was really easy with Vue. As a Playstation Gamer since P1, it was even easier. Paying 1/3 the price for TV has been great so far, we have not missed any of our shows or sports. We do not need movie channels, so we are set. After our high speed connection was resolved from the street, buffering issues from months ago have disappeared.
This app has the same look and feel of standard guides. I like the DVR features, favorite channels and the record features. My only issue is the trending feature. If I never watch certain channels I don't want to see it trending. It seems to be the first channel that appears on the scroll list when I open the app.
best live tv streaming service available. mainly becuase of its best in class DVR experience and it being the first to offer all 4 major local channels (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX). It lost the Viacom channels shortly after I first started using the service so it's not even as good as it could be. Hopefully Viacom finally comes to their senses when it concerns streaming being the new way of TV. I tried other streaming services when they lost the channels, they just didnt compare.
Crashes after ~10 minutes on Pixel 3a XL. Brand new (1 week) Pixel 3a XL. Installed PS Vue Mobile. On my local wifi network. Launch app, select station, watch video. App crashes back to Android home screen after about 10 minutes. This did not happen with my old phone, a Nexus 5X. This does not happen on my Amazon Fire HD 10 tablet. Possible compatibility problem with Android 9? Also on phone: The "Customize Your Home Screen" message pops up, but off screen. As a result, when you launch the app, you CANNOT navigate to any channels. The message pops up even after you have already customized the home screen (why keep asking? incredibly annoying!). Workaround is to launch app with phone in landscape, then rotate back to vertical. At some point, you'll see enough of the pop up message to click "Go Away." On Fire HD 10 Tablet: Recent update results in very low audio, even with volume to max. Any amount of noise will make it impossible to hear the audio. As a workaround, I use the apps specific to the channels I want to watch - ESPN, Fox Sports, etc - instead of using the PS Vue app. Not sure what changed, but please change it back.
PSVue has turned out to be the perfect bridge between traditional and streaming TV services. For less than half what we paid before, we watch live TV, including local channels, and enjoy it through the DVR or On Demand options. The shows are recorded even when our power goes out, because they are in the cloud. We easily stream programs using our phones, tablets, Roku, and, of course, our PS3 and PS4 (although not required for PSVue). We didn't sacrifice any channels, either! We love it.
Use to be great. Never liked the guide interface. Nit smooth or easy to use. Always streams HD even if you set to SD which eats up a ton of data. Buffers a lot since it's always HD which is annoying too. Only reason I chose Vue is because it was the best package that was offered and up to 5 devices at once. But it's pointless to have multiple devices streaming when you have a data cap.
Not reliable. Sometimes videos simply won't load with out explanation. When they load I deal with a lot of lag to the point that it is difficult to watch live television. None of my other apps lag when streaming video, it is particular to this app. If you already use it on the ps4 might as well grab the app, but don't rely on it if you want to see live footage (especially sports).
I'm enjoying the free trial so far but one thing that is really bugging me is that im being disconnected from my chromecast when casting from my phone. Just watched a movie about 45 mins in and disconnected then when i go back it asks if i want to resume I say yes and it starts from beginning. I try to forward it and that feature doesnt work. so i have to watch 45 mins of that movie to get back to the spot im at. that's stupid. this issue should be addressed.
The current version works ok, but, if I fast forward or rewind, the size of the numbers is virtually unreadable because it is TINY. Also, trying to access the rewind show to beginning is awkward. Down arrow, right arrow, click. Should be easier to do. Menus should be easier to navigate.
overall, i am happy with the app. the 2 things i dislike are. 1-when streaming to chromecast from dvr, it does not play the next episode in the dvr. you must manually select another one to stream. 2. also while streaming, there is a glitch. the app thinks i am connected, plays sound from the phone but no video or sound on tv. *update* now experiencing a skip in video play and a lag. My internet speeds are fantastic, no reason for it.
I have had psvue for a number of years. Though at times the product was lacking, has improved greatly. For instance the guide, play back abilities, video on demand, stored media function. Very happy with the product. I am saddened though to see psvue go. I will search for a new product after the first of the year.
The best option I've come across for "cable" without having to get cable. The only real issue I've come across is when watching an ongoing program that is DVR'd, if the device starts to buffer for too long, it'll automatically switch to the Live broadcast. This can be frustrating since it's difficult to search back to where it was left off since you can no longer resume and has the possibility of ruining results in things like live sports.
