I signed up for a free trial, giving my credit card information, realized that it was worthless as I couldn't even pause an audiobook and resume it later, and now I can't cancel my membership as the "My Account" link takes me to a blank page. Update: Customer support helped me to cancel promptly. Still, my experience with this app was very inconv and stressful.
Bank have to resubmit me a debit card and I was unable to reactivate my Play Store account. But every time I put the card and it popped up as fraudulent charges and they charged me a dollar. the app itself isn't bad as long as you stay within Wi-Fi range and create a playlist to find the books that you want. Where is find the book that you like or a series used to create a playlist for it or you won't be able to find it again. this is my second time getting the app so let's see what happens.
Mostly a rip-off. Went to reactivate my account to see about listening to a specific series of books. Was billed immediately with no chance to choose for the most expensive plan (when the plan I had before was the less expensive audio books only plan) and then the series of books wasn't even there anymore. They have lost a considerable amount of quality content over the past year and now I'm out $35 just to find out the catalog is awful now.
Overall the app and service are good. Where I have the most issues is the search is the absolute worst I have seen. I search by an author, I get every but the author I'm looking for. it makes it very hard to find the audio books im looking for. My other issue is when the player just stops playing an audio book for no reason.
The library part of the app (ie. audiobook books avail etc) is okay. Some books which were originally available no longer seem to be there, however the range is ok. HOWEVER the actual app is the worst of its kind I have ever used. It is clumsy eg the progress bar is so close to the play/pause button it is almost impossible to use later in a chaper. It is difficult to quickly return to your saved books, you must progress through a heap of back pages. These are just a few of my complaints.
it's certainly worth the price for what you get and I have switched to Playster over Audible, however there are some REALLY annoying things about the app. 1) randomly stops playing to ask if you're liking the book and would like suggestions on other titles you may enjoy. 2) randomly resets the bookmark to the 2nd-to-last point in which you paused the book instead of where you most recently left off 3) status bar for player stays open unless you have the app open when you close it like any other app if they were to fix these issues it would definitely be a 5 star review for me but these problems are incredibly obnoxious
app works horribly. "Browse a genre" function did not work at all. plus, because I had signed up for a free trial, most of the features didn't work and I was unable to evaluate their service, so I went to cancel it. Suddenly they offered me 3 months for 99 cents, so I signed up for that. The site continued to be non-functional and said I was still in a trial membership, so I went ahead and cancelled it. So they suckered me for 99 cents! Do not fall for this bait and switch ripoff!!
Won't download for nothing. For some reason, although I could previously download multiple audiobooks, now all I get is "Waiting for download" and can't talk to anyone to fix the problem. The email Technical support is a joke, with responses apparently canned and offering no real answers. As I was about to cancel, it offered me a 99 cent deal and then proceeded to charge me 80 bucks. About to give up.
When I am paying $30 a month for an app I would like to see it work properly. I can't get access to the entire library I have set up anymore, playlists stopped working so I reinstalled the app and now I can access my lists but I can't add books to those lists because it tells me I need a premium subscription to access that feature. I already have that. What are you doing playster? Edit 5/2/19 As of yesterday I get an error message saying "Playster member not found, try again".
Great App! I love the app. I had the audio book subscription plus membership. They come out with new books every month and access to the books are free with the membership. It doesn't explain very well that the books with the star in the top right corner need a plus membership but its worth. Way better than getting 1 or 2 books a month and having to buy another book.
I signed up for the premium audiobooks subscription after thoroughly reviewing the library to ensure the content I wanted was there. I finished an audiobook in about 20 hours and went back and ALL the books I wanted to read were no longer showing up. When I browse or vaguely search, virtually no premium books show up anymore. Obscure fiction authors or non-fiction science/history titles appear to be plentiful, though. Customer service told me the content was no longer available...
The Android app has endless bugs/issues from accessing media to maintaining and removing mefia from the device. it also tends to move from the app to the online site. The app is very frustrating to use, but in those times when it works as it should, the audiobook selections are pretty extensive.
I switched from a competitive service because playster promised unlimited audio books at a reasonable price...initially selection was great but then it seemed each time I browsed there were fewer and fewer books and half of them I had already downloaded. When I cancelled in frustration they offered 3 mos/99 cents unlimited and now everything I try to download is flagged as a paid option. Not if there are bugs or the business model is flawed but unfortunately not even worth the 99 cents I paid...
this could be a really great app if it ever bloody worked! if it's not the search function not working it's the whole damn thing not loading anything! I've contacted customer support numerous times and had very little in the way of actual support! at the moment I'm getting close to just unsubscribing as I'm getting fed up of paying for a service I can't use over half the time! I hope customer support see's this as it is not fair paying for a service I can't bloody use! What a waste of money!!
The app is alright. Definitely not better than Audible for the fact of renting vs buying. I personally would rather buy and have permanent access to my books. I dont always have the money to keep a subscription going all the time. Especially if I'm not using it as much. If I am not paying for an Audible sub I still have access to all my books and my family can gift me thier unused credits.
Horrible customer service and lots of false advertisements when they say unlimited it's a lie, and I signed up for a monthly membership for audiobooks (which cost me 14.95) then I got a pop up to try their "unlimited" trial for 99 cents for 3 months. Not only is it not unlimited (does not include audiobooks) but when I got a hold of support the told me that the new membership canceled my audiobooks subscription (which i didn't have for the full month even though i paid for a full month) and as if that's not enough they also charged me 11.49 for my "99 cent" "unlimited " trial....they are horrible and i would suggest anyone to stay with audiable which is what I will be doing.
Was going fine at first and then all of the audio books switched to premium, so I upgraded instead of canceling, which I should have just done in the first place. They seem to have lost the majority of the books, so I cancelled again. After already paying. Now my acct is inactive and I cant use it
Playback is constantly being interrupted by errors and /or being asked if you want to continue listening to the book you were contentedly listening to. You actually have to turn on the phone and navigate the app. So annoying for a paid subscription. Also, the audiobooks for the 14.95 is limited. You have to up to the 30 dollar plan to get more current books. Update : The playback has improved but now you can't search for books to read by author. You click on the author name and nothing shows up
