If like me you have zx spectrum but no tape deck, or your tapes are too old to work then this app is for you. it has every game i can think of.only negative is not all games load but this could be down to the volume on your device, ive tried a few with mixed results. maybe I can amplify the sound, or something but fantastic app all the same.
Loads of games in the database. Only problem I have is that it doesn't find my local files on huawei mate 20 pro. Edit. Thanks for the quick response, worked a treat. For those complaining about this app, I suggest you take a little time to work out what it's for. "long time to load" yep it emulates a tape recorder. "can't open the game after it downloads" nope because it's a tape emulator, not a Speccy emulator. "getting loading errors" that's because your phone isn't loud enough.
Would be good if it wasn't so temporamental. It is hard to get it to play loud enough for the spectrum to register it and playback volume on my tablet always resets for some reason when I try to play a sound on this app and I have to turn it up again whilst it has already started.
Wrong waveform - doesn't load reliably. This app has a GREAT interface, and selecting games is super easy. BUT, it outputs pure sine waves instead of the square waves that the speccy is expecting, so loading almost never works. If the output could be made square wave, it would be awesome.
Fantastic app! I had to max the sound volume on my phone and also turn on the invert one stereo channel. Every game I tried loaded fine, good old days, thank you for the awesome app!
This is great - worked first time and a great selection of games. Would it be possible to put in OneDrive integration, to allow conversion of tap to sound file and load from that? Either way, it's a 5stars, two thumbs up, ten out of ten, 100%, 100 out of 100 product.
Thank you so very much. I've recently purchased an old spectrum+2 (grey) given it a good clean & now with this app, I have the ability to replay all the games from my childhood. The ability to play these retro games on actual hardware is priceless. Thank you once again 👍
Works fine but only with a volume booster companion app. It would be great to have this functionality embedded in PlayZX, as many Android phones have their volume crippled by default.
used this for a whyle now, its so cool to be able to play games on my original hardware with the full nostalgic sounds. better than an emulator or SD card loader in my opinion if your looking for the full experience without old or hard to load tapes
Application is fantastic :). It works great on my Mi9SE with recommended "Invert one stereo channel", unfortunately that option does not work on my Redmi6. There is no sound at all with invert option enabled :(.
Awesome! Followed the instructions for using a stereo lead to improve loading reliability and it now works flawlessly. Flippin' 'eck, games were hard back then!
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC App. Live the fact that is comes preloaded with alot of Spectrum games but also the fact that it let's you import your own for platforms such as Amstrad etc. This is a major credit to the developers, I really cant get over how simple it is to use!
Working fine, but TestPilotTone.tzx is too short for testing; a very missing feature is a kind of timestamp tag that would help us on multiload games (those we need to locate and load each stage from tape, like R-Type, Outrun, Lemmings, etc. - on real cassette players we could anotate the counter, on PlayZX it's painfully impossible - on PlayZX, the silent parts could be detected and marked, itwould help a lot)
Amazing to see old tapes beying played on a phone, kudos to the programmer! I look forward to trying it on a real ZX Spectrum. I highly recommended it!
Works great however there is a bug where if you name a local folder as a hash tag you can't enter it. Also the buttons on the bottom are spread out too much now the rewind button is added.
Just downloaded this so haven't fully tried it. One thing though is you don't seem to be able to return back to the a to z games list once you've selected to load a game.
A really good app that imitates loading games from a tape deck. The only improvement I'd suggest is allowing movement within the chosen game file for multi-part loaders.
Absolutely Brilliant! - recently bought a spectrum to relive my childhood.. can plug my phone directly into it, using the app I can play my favourite games again. Very clever! Happy to pay or donate to developer, certainly earned it!!
Works well for basic tap files, but unfortunately doesn't seem to properly follow loops in tzx files; a real issue trying to load SpeedLock protected games.
The app is great, only problem I have is that my Samsung Galaxy A20E keeps overheating while running this app. Doesn't do it with anything else, don't know why. What a shame!
Works brilliantly most of the time, but it does have limits (for example, it will not work with the search loader used by RanaRama) so not quite perfect
It is definitely an amazing app for retrocomputing fans. I would love it even more if it plays zx-81 .p files.
Very good app. I connected to an amp because my phone doesn't have a strong output sound. Love to play my old spectrum
Great app. Thank you! The only thing I miss is the store function for the online files. I mean you search online and then save it.
Fantastic app!! Get to play all my favourites, without the need for a tapedeck and waring out my tapes!! (Shame there aren't apps like this for the Commodore, Amstrad, Atari and MSX 8-bit micros too!!)
Now I have the correct input cables, the app works perfectly well with my zx spectrum plus. Perhaps label each game with its memory size?
Interesting app. It works fine with online archives. However it is not clear where they are downloaded on local storage. The idea of reverse phase stereo is great to boost audio amplitude to 200% and works absolutely fine. Finally I managed to browse my internal memory by changing permissions to play my personal .tzx files However still no way to access SD card contents. But unfortunately It fails to play any of OTLA .tzx files. Works only with standard speed ZX spectrum files.
