Pocket Campaigns

Slip your campaign into your pocket and take it wherever you might need it.

Pocket Campaign is a simple GM's tool to convert the flavor of your tabletop campaign (D&D or any other) into easy-to-manage decks and cards. A card may represent a character, location, plot hook or really anything you can think of. Give your card a name, download a nice picture for it and add notes to describe it.

Organization:
- Cards are first grouped into decks, which you might use for a campaign.
- They are sorted by tags, which you might use for general descriptors such as "Village" or "NPC".
- Cards carry both names and identifiers (eg: armorer) which can be searched for at the cards list.
- Cards will automatically link to each other if they find another card's name in their notes or descriptions, creating a smooth flow or even an adventure track.

Versatility:
The app comes with a default character generator designed around a fantasy setting (Dungeons & Dragons) but this can easily be replaced with any JavaScript, to some given specifications. You can easily use the app to manage your wild-west or outer space setting, too. No part of the app is specific to any genre of game. You may even find uses for it outside tabletop RPGs.

Sharing:
Decks and cards can both be shared and imported by other users. These exports can be password-locked, and even set to delete their secret notes when imported without the correct password. GMs can keep their players up to date on all the features of their world without giving anything away.

Character Generator:
The app creates a public folder hierarchy in which you can deposit a wealth of relevant character portraits. It will automatically search through these to find an appropriate image for your generated character.

If you don't like the default generator, you can write a simple JavaScript in plain text and import it in, guidelines for which are found in the generators directory. A new folder hierarchy will be made and you can generate characters for whatever setting you use.

I made this app to fill a space I had in my organizational tools. It's a labor of love so I hope you might love it, too.

Once you poke about a bit and find the button to create cards, it's pretty self-explanatory; It's like a stripped down version of campaign logger, without the egos. Pretty cool so far, for a free, solo effort. I may adjust the rating after I've used it more. I'm not really sure what the IAPs are as of yet. Add: one star due to the fact that, unlike most droid apps on a chromebook, the screen on this one can be resized as any other window. i.e., you don't have to choose between phone sized, and fullscreen. I have mine set to half screen.

This is a really nice app (so far). I feel it could benefit from an additional. There are various regions in my campaigns & I like to keep things tidy/tucked away. Connections are useful, I think it might become cumbersome to use as I expand a campaign. Yes, I could use the decks as that extra step, but I'd still like to maintain multiple campaigns simultaneously. Which I would lose the benefit of being able to do. tl:dr could benefit from +1 layer, beyond that, nice app, highly recommend.

I've used this app to organize several campaigns now and I absolutely love it. It is simple, clean, convenient and has become my go to app for taking notes both as a GM and a player. The only thing I could possibly want to see in the future would be an option to create folders to reduce clutter when first opening a campaign (Making homevrew worlds, this would be a nice option to help sort the world in to easier to manage chunks.) Still 5 stars, thank you for an amazing app!

This is a great app for making notes and developing a campaign on the go! Clean and straightforward interface and very easy to organize. I just wish it were possible to edit from a PC, but the dev has mentioned that's already a goal. My only gripe is that it's not super conducive to sharing info with players. Haven't messed with it a ton, but it would be cool if players could see updates/changes to cards in real time, and if the DM could reveal 'secret' notes.

I've only been using Pocket Campaigns for a few weeks now, I've pretty much been using it to aid with my world building in preparation for a campaign in the future, so I haven't actually used it in a campaign yet. However, I anticipate it being VERY useful when I start the campaign, it's a fantastic organisational tool. It does take a lot of work to actually set up a deck (it's not going to do all the work for you, it's very much a resource where you get out what you put in), but really, as GMs, we're hardly strangers to putting in a lot of work for our campaigns! Once you've put in that work though? You've got a database of notes that's easy to search, and easy to find related items, and is easily customisable on the fly. There's only two reasons why I've given it 4 stars instead of 5. Firstly, because I haven't used it in a campaign yet, and secondly, because I've found a minor bug with the linking system. It doesn't work if the name has an apostrophe in it. Easily fixable on the user end (just don't use apostrophes!) but it's still an inconvenience. That is literally the only problem I've found with it though, so I still highly recommend it!

Easy to use, well thought out, well made app. The only thing I could complain about is that I use a whole campaign deck just to organise my content in a town, so I only use the app for one campaign. That being said there are so many things in this app that make it convenient and efficient. Plus being able to write stuff down on the fly means I can prepare anywhere, even if I have only a few minutes to spare. Fantastic app, would recommend.

The absolute best way to organize DM notes. The app is very simple, but it's perfect for organizing my thoughts. I have all of my notes on me so long as I have my phone, I frequently add to it when I get sparks of inspiration, and everything is so convenient. I save space behind my DM screen by having everything on my mobile device, everything can be searched by my tags, and the best part yet -- IT COSTS NOTHING. 100% recommend as an essential tool for any DM.

This app is amazing! It helps me so much with designing campaigns and worlds, it has seriously done a great deal of help. If I had to give a complaint it would only be that there's no specific thing for characters and that you have to put them in a campaign deck, If hey added a feature to just insert characters into campaigns that would be great. Thanks for making such a beautiful game

I'm honestly surprised that this app is free. Its basically a wiki for d&d worlds that you can customize as much as you'd like. I've been using this app for quite some time and I can't say I've ever dealt with any bugs or issues. It's just an all around solid app for any DM looking to expand on their world. I would love an option to have customizable links though. Right now I think the only way to link from one page to another page is to fully write out the name of the page you want to link

I wish I Knew about this App earlier! Before I stumbled upon pocket campaigns I was struggling to get my notes compiled into a usable format. Usually I'd ditch or lose them. With pocket Campaigns I can quickly jot down some rough notes and refine or delete them later (Adding pictures from the internet is super easy and adds dimension. It's Dope as S*#$t!) It is so easy to tie pieces of the world together. Love the app! (It would be great if I could add images to descriptions though)

Very easy to use and understand, a very good work. I'm currently sorting some info for Pathfinder and it's got me like 10 minutes to understand how to do it. Just one thing: if you can, you should put a more strong circle (like this one: ●), to separate the various notes, so the separation between the notes appears more visible. Nevertheless, thank you very much for releasing this wonderful app.

At first I was a bit confused: the lack of folders threw me off, but once I figured out how to filter and link cards together the whole app just exploded my wee mind with all the possibilities. In turn, this has very quickly become my all time favourite dnd campaign organiser. I absolutely love it. It's so simple and easy to use once you stop overthinking haha. Thank you for a wonderful app, I do not know what I'd do without it!

Very simple and easy to use, great for keeping NPCs and Events organized in a campaign. One thing I would like to note, is that if there was a way to put more thing inside of things that would allow you to use the app for world design ie. Country that has cities inside of it and the cities have NPCs. But otherwise I love the app

This is great! The only few criticisms I have are that the cards are sorted alphabetically with no way to change that, and that only one level of nesting limits what I can do organization wise. If folders, sorting and possibly multiple pictures per card were added, this would be an easy 5 star and my go-to mobile app to organize my campaigns.

Hey I absolutely love the design and simplicity of the app. I am definately gonna be using this for my campaigns. I just have one suggestion, where as I love the tags system to quickly find cards, but I believe one more option of organizing cards would be extremely useful. example: Campaign Deck > *Sections in Deck* > Cards So users could split like plot points, enemy cards from hero cards. Rather then just going through the list. and this being optional. Split cards into sections option

This is a very good app for keeping notes on stuff qnd just creating a world. Its easy to use. One thing i would like is the ability to create a folder within the campaign thread so i could have all my notes on a place or thing within one area than having to search the whole campaign area. I would just like the ability to make a sub folder in the campaigns.

This is honestly super useful! Ive been having a bit of a difficult time getting my notes in order and this is just the perfect format for me. Its straightforward and intuitive. If i could add a recomendation, i think it would be a good idea to be able to upload images such as battlemaps to my cards. 10/10 love this app

Man. T. Nov 23, 2019

It's a good app. I wish you could share cards without someone needing the app to see it, but I've gotten around that by just taking screen shots. More options and content would be better, like being able to highlight text when not editing, but it's a great app for what it does.

I think saying this is the best GM tool available would be an understatement. This app could, based on its impeccable layout, functioning and aesthetic, be used for almost any creative-organisational purpose. I use to love an app called Mindly, but this has blown that out of the water as far as usefulness is concerned. Honestly, apart from the ability to save and backup all of my decks as files (for peace of mind) there aren't any forseeable new and important features possible <3

This app can be used for both campaigns and organizing things in general. Excellently excellent. There is nothing that needs to be done to improve it. Edit: can you please add dark mode i use this late at night usually and it hurts my eyes. I made this review about a year ago now, and I still agree with my statements. Besides there is nothing to improve, you can always improve. Great app
