It plays all the tones when you finally find it. You can't use your finger to scroll around the chart. Isn't that what you would expect? I think, going to a pinyin chart website, and using that might be easier. It would also be very helpful to show things like: How 'yan' is actually pronounced the same way as 'bian'. Put it in the same column. Also how 'liu'/'jiu' -> but it used to be spelled 'iou', and it still pronounced 'ee..ou', but the spelling with the 'o' was dropped a few years ago. Helpful hints like these is what makes a pinyin chart really usefull! Edit: I could find no initial 'y'. Words starting with 'Y' are often special cases.
I give a 5-star on it. Now I can practise my putonghua pinyin anytime with this app
Fantastic! I love this PINYIN program. Thanks!

Improve the sound quality please
useful application and pronunciation is very good
Little control over tones. All four tones are played in sequence for each syllable.
The method is ok but needs a lot of improvements.
Coollll
You are forced to hear all four tones everytime you tap a pinyin. Please separate. You cant tell what box makes a sound and what box does not. Please add audio icon or something.
No way to change settings from pinyin to zhuyin. No button to take the test yourself to distinguish the sounds.
