PocketGrib downloads and displays the following weather types:
- Wind speed and direction (10 m above mean sea level)
- Precipitation (rain, snow etc)
- Pressure
- Air temperature
- Waves (including Mediterranean and Black Sea)
- Cloud cover
- Relative humidity
- CAPE (Convective Atmospheric Potential Energy)
- Current (Atlantic only)Direct download of GRIB data from NOAA's GFS (Global Forecast System) model

By downloading only what the user needs it it possible to keep the GRIB files small which makes it especially convenient for low bandwidth regions or when roaming internationally.
GRIB forecasts are published without human intervention or review. Therefore some knowledge and awareness is required by the end user. Most GRIB models do NOT accurately forecast hurricanes and tropical cyclones so their use should be combined with specific hurricane and tropical cyclone forecasts.

Used for several years now. Always been as reliable as can be expected with something as variable as weather. Data always quick to download. Only criticism is speed at which it runs weather sequence. Would be good if there was an option to run at full speed or half speed or quarter speed.
A vast improvement would be to show a side box with Lat and Long at the curser. Even better, an entry prompt for Position, Course and Speed so the data table would have mets at each 3 (6 or 12 depending on grib interval selected) hours along the course selected. PERFECT 5 stars then as this would be then the best Grib viewer on Android!
Easy to use. Friend has paid version on iPhone that gives average wind speed and gusts. Free version on Android doesnt have gust info. I paid for Android version to get extra info but there doesnt seem to be any difference between free and paid versions.
I like it very much simple tjk use and understand. Freezes and crashes when looking forward. Samsung tab s2. Paid version. Increased forcast time and resolution is worth it. I am a Professional Navigator.
Seriously GREAT app, just wish a line route (e.g. sailing) from point A to point B could be inserted onto map with spead setting. This means that weather information could be calculated per time on line route making it easier and more accurate as to when to expect what on route.
Perfect app for sailors. Simple interface, many options in weather prediction model settings - importat to downsize a downloaded file, where the internet is not in it's best. God job and fair winds to next versions.
I wish we could zoom out continent-wide on rhe GRIB display map to see the whole meteo system. Presenty, it seems we can zoom out to only about 1/4 of North America. Apart from annoying detail, the app is very good.
I've been using this app for nearly a decade now. Across platforms, from Android to iOS. This is hands down the most accurate, best weather app out there. For sailing or mountaineering, this app gives you all GRIB data you'd ever want!
Excellent resource. I use it constantly when cruising the New England coast. Very accurate and informative. Used in conjunction with other sailing weather resources it us a hugky valuabke tool fir planning.
I've used this for quite a few years both sailing and on land and am very happy with it. I eventually paid for the app to support the developer and am quite happy with that decision.
I wrote "Very very usefull" year's back, ...... .....still using this since my first review Other Apps like windy are on the market which I use, but PocketGrib is still my first choice due to ability to easily download files for later perusal....
Downloads really small amount of data to show the forecast. Very useful for sailing when internet connection is not reliable.
Been using PocketGrib for years now. Its one of the best and I highly recommend it to anyone who needs good accurate forecasts when going out on their boat
Doesn't successfully download and access grib files. Although the free version works fine.
Tends to predict steady wind speed so you should be prepared for substantially stronger gusts but really good for providing a broad picture of what to expect.
New android 10 tripletek tablet. This version won't save the downloaded grib file while the lite version does. Help..
It works like a charm. What a wonderful wonderful way to get your GRIBs. Now all that remains is to be freed from the yoke of WiFi ... ha, ha, ha.
Good app, but I wasn't able to visualize the wave height.
Great app very useful, really enjoy this app. I try to make my own interpretation of the coming weather
ok for an idea of wind direction but check wind speeds from another source: gusts may be double or more of the speed displayed e.g F4 displayed may have F7 gusts!
Easily accessible app that gives 4 day forecasts . Wind speeds often under valued though.
If all you want is wind this app is fast to download and pretty accurate compared with on board anemometer.
As a sailor this provides great information when I have internet. Very easy to use.

Excellent. When using on phone be informed that the tab through the movie is only available in landscape. In portrait you can only play the movie. Was invited to rate again, unchanged. Only comment I would add is that recently a few downloads were not playable as a movie. That problem went as fast as it came, but it came by twice.
