Pockethernet

I expected too much from this device in part because of the great reviews. The app also looks pretty good until you get the device. I was looking for a testing tool to quickly find issues but I find this to be more of a clunky toy type gadget. It is slow to respond and lacks range to communicate on long runs back to the network closet . I have other tools that I am much more comfortable with and will give results quickly. This may be great for some but not me.Return was painless and professional

I think this device and app is developed for network maintainers and administrators like myself. IANA professional cable installer. I have had access to the Fluke Linkrunner AT2000 tools occasionally and for my uses the pockethernet compares well. I have owned the device for about a year and half. App almost never crashes or hangs for me. I remember one instance I did have to restart phone to get app working. I tried to register for the forums but can't at this time, thus no 4th or 5th star.

Really happy with the device so far. Haven't used it during a big cabling project to test how the workflow would go but so far so good for quick tests. One thing I've notice is sometimes I get connectivity issues where I need to re connect the device to my phone. ***WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE DEVELOPER KEEP WORKING ON SOFTWARE U0DATES ***

Awesome! Every cable test that's on a Fluke plus some options like reporting that aren't available until you buy a tester worth three times or more than the Pockethernet. Of course, they are trading on the fact one needs a Bluetooth cell phone to use it, but since when do I not have my phone on me. Win!

Contrary to those who have left reviews pointing out that there hasn't been an update in years, there's still active development going on for this device, you just have to visit the forums where you'll find the latest firmware and the accompanying beta app to sideload. The last update was 11/2019 as of today, 2/2020. This device is amazing period, but for the price it's a no-brainer. The NetAlly LinkSprinter costs double!

Great except for one thing. If for example I select the DHCP test and the device does not receive DHCP for whatever reason, the test(s) won't time out. I am therefore not able to run another test. The issue isn't even fixed by killing the app and restarting it. I either have to uninstallstall and then reinstall the app or wait hours until it does eventually time out.

Just got it yesterday and I find that using the app on android v2.8a worked once to read the Vlan ID. Then after that one time the vlan tag wont select - just displays the recycle icon or a ghosted recycle icon. and I can't select the option to read the vlan tag anymore. Very unhappy about that as its the only thing that made me need it. Hoping commuications are not as bad as has been common said here

Good app but definitely need to ensure this is good with current versions of Android. This app keeps giving me a warning that it may not not work properly with my version of Android. The app hasn't been updated since 2017...? This product has too much potential to ignore these kinds of details. C'mon guys, I know you can do better!

Great tool. Has saved my bacon many times. Google search for spare end terminators & buy them if you're doing lots of outlets on patch panels, saves a lot of walking back & forth.

Not so sure, just got the device and every time I run the CDP test the app crashes. The other test seam promising but when the app crashes all data is lost, not great.

Pretty slick UI! Can hang sometimes, during testing, but far more intuitive/user-friendly, than any clunky dedicated testing device, from major mfgrs.

Pretty sure these guys have closed up shop. They thanked a negative review.. " Unable to recommend this product. The Pockethernet itself has great prospects and is very useful but the company's communication is non existant (despite assurances from them that it'll improve). No communication for a very long time. No app or firmware updates for a very long time despite bugs being identified and acknowledged! Do not buy a Pockethernet. Great device, great idea, excellent value. But the app looks like it's from the 90s! :-) I'd like to see the device battery level in the app...

Very effective tool. The only thing I have noticed is that the graphs don't seem to go out with the reports when you email them.

This app needs updated. I was going to but the device. But the app won't run on my OP7pro update the app and I'll buy the actually device. Otherwise its just a 200 dollar paperwaight.

When I bought this we were promised continually updates. What happened instead is the seller and creator couldn't even be bothered to update the app, let alone add features. Thanks for swindling me

Indispensable tool in a network engineer's bag. I've had it since 2018 and I'm very happy with it.

Excellent application for testing Ethernet connections with the Pocketethernet Bluetooth device. Tested working on my Pixel 2, Android 9.1.

Awesome gadget, has replaced several pieces of test gear. Great value for money.
