The only app and charger network that has worked for me. What's great is that the charge starts as soon as you plug in the cable to car and pod point. You then have 15 mins to confirm the charge. This is convenient as you don't always have reception or GPS on smart phone. Downside is that most points are only 7kW.
Whilst I am pleased there is a strong UK market leader, the offering needs to be improved for public EV charge points. Contactless payment would be far easier than loading via the app. If the app is necessary, I would rather my card was billed per charge rather than preload credit on the off chance I am somewhere that uses PodPoint for public charging. My new property will have a PodPoint solo installed, but based on my PodPoint experience so far, I've decided to have it replaced.
Mainly use to charge while shopping at Tesco, but when parked at the charging point and open the app it ALWAYS comes up with a list of "nearby" points that are over 80 miles away....very annoying. AND yes, I have uninstalled and reinstalled ... to no effect.
Good app , but logs me out just when I need it, like about to start a charge. Developers, can you make sure it remains logged in, or use the finger print to validate. First time this happened I didn't have my password with me, it almost stranded me and I had to find a different brand charger to keep traveling, very bad.
App has been working fine for 5 months. This month (April) I cannot see the cost of my charging in the Stats section of the app at all. So I can't figure out how much I'm spending each week/month which is causing obvious issues for me! There doesn't appear to be a big fix or update available, so 🤷
I find this app very easy to use. I especially like the weay it integrates with my home charger and the public chargers that I use. This is invaluable for keeping control of the costs. The only gripe I have is that it would be helpful to allow the app to work with Android Auto - maybe this could be added at a future update.
No option to directly start a home charge via the app with out setting a timer. Seems like a basic feature being missed. Anyone can plug in and it's starts charging via home charge point with out any verification or lock.
After a slow start, working well now. Needs a strong wi-fi signal to work properly. Please add a 'charge now' over-ride button so you dont have to mess with the set schedule.
Mike. First time I used it, after confirming charge in the app, it cut out after 15 mins. Other drivers at the charger tell me it's usually fine. Sure enough, a few days later I got an app update and it's working perfectly well. I only use it on shopping trips to Tesco, once a week, but it's working fine for me.
Looks simple and clean but actually the app's too basic. Simple tasks like setting times to charge have no guidance and you actually have no idea of it's going to work.
Good set up, but when chargers are in use this doesn't always show, also when they are not working you can report this issue but nothing is done to fix them. My local at Sainsbury's (Sunderland North) only has 2 & 1 of them has been not working for 6 months. Had pod point contact me for info still nothing done. 3 weeks later
The section to enter tariff needs to be aware of daylight savings as economy seven ratings change with it. Also economy seven can also be all weekend, so tarrif section needs to be able to cope with that. Also the scheduler is a nightmare to use. What would be better user interface would be to have 24 dots for each day and you can then turn each hour slot on off. Should still be able to turn each day on/off as well.
This review is for the Pod Point Solo 3. Charges car without problem using schedule charging but in the stats the end time is not shown correctly could be hours out. It's only a very small moan. Apart from that happy with Pod Point
A dissapointingly basic app... I was hoping there might be some useful data or features to support my Solo 3 charger but sadly not. The schedulling is just broken, you cant span a day, so I can't set a schedulle to start at 10PM and end at 6AM, this just doesnt seem to be possible it always ends at 0145 the next day. I was also hoping for an option to lock the charge cable in to the device as I bought an untethered one but this simple feature is also missing... no current PIV info... very basic
Used for public charging only. Map takes ages to load (even on wifi) and always tells me my nearest charger is in Eastbourne - I live in Wales. Would like to manually order the list of favourite chargers. Stats are slow to update.
Keeps locating me in Eastbourne, when actually several hours from there. If I use a pod point tritium charger, it doesn't show usage on app. Don't like the "pay £30 upfront and reconcile the charge later" model. If there is a payment discrepancy, it would be difficult to recoup with pod point as you have no record of usage. I think EV charger payment systems need a government regulator - if the payment model remains one sided in favour of providers, the government will step-in to regulate.
Not all chargers listed! My very first attempt to charge at 7kw chargers at EDF Hinkley Point B power station (TA5 1UD - STAN-LARA and others), and none were on the app so no charge can be paid for and started. Not a great start!
Great app functionality, any chance you can add a total spend in terms of pounds and pence per month? Currently I need to open each week and manually add up. Thanks
Unreliable. The app asks you to confirm charge within 15 minutes but even when you have it stops changing after 15 minutes.
The App no longer seems to log and display data re charging sessions on my at-home charger? I have checked and made sure that I have entered the Podpoint PSL number and updated my energy tariff. Help!
App is frustrating. Got logged out of the app and when I went to install again kept telling me I had wrong email or password. Have reset the password and still will not let me on the app. Details are correct as I can log in on browser but doesn't show all details I want to see
App unreliable. When reporting an issue with car charging, once you have completed two lines, the text box stops working. App shows charge confirmed but still shows plug available. Result is car does not actually charge.
Really poor at understanding where I actually am. All other GPS based apps know I am in Swindon but podpoint is convinced that Eastbourne in Kent is where my Nearby pod points are. Carrying out a reinstall makes no difference. I installed on a Galaxy S10 at the same time my wife installed on a Apple 10. Hers works find mine doesn't.
Good app, but in terms of home charging it really needs the ability to switch off the scheduled charging completely with one toggle, rather than having to switch off every day individually and to be able to 'charge now' to override the scheduled charge when needed.
OK, but limited features. What would be really helpful would be: 1. Instead of messing with the schedule, would be good to have a "lock" option, so charging can be disabled, for example when on holiday. 2. The app only supports one car type. It would be good to be able to add vehicles and select which is being charged. 3. A "guest" mode in the app would be good, so that a visitor could charge their vehicle, and an email automatically sent to the owner with power used, time, duration and cost.
yet again my charger schedule didn't start at 00:30hrs Sunday evening/Monday morning. This has now cost me another £3-4 to charge during the day. This is a common occurance now and is starting to get costly. A while back now, I suggested an update to quickly and easily disable/enable both the charger (to go on holiday for example) and the schedule without going through every day to disable it. Should be a quick and easy change but I see no updates since last year. 1 star lost for this.
