I tried one of the other podcatchers - a big-name one - before Podbyte, and found that one to be unintuitive, cluttered, and overly glitzy. I appreciate the relative simplicity and busness-like functionality of PodByte. I don't find it to be perfect, but I also don't think I'll bother to try finding something "better".
Though it requires internet to be on for it 0to start, once started it will play podcasts forever with no internet. Hence best for travel. The five star rating is because of ease of making and managing the queue. Only problem there is that, if listening Is interrupted you have to remember what was playing to find the queue.
Great app, but podcast eps often inexplicably stop playing, and won't restart unless I click on them in the queue and then return to the play screen. This happens two or three times per episode on all podcasts. Still really like it though.
This app is verry bad. It only has a discover button and a search button when trying to add podcasts, and they don't have the full list of categories of podcaaststs either after the trending podcasts, otherwise as a button between discover and search so that one can see the full list of podcasts in which one might select.
Weird UI choices that bait you into accidentally clicking delete sometimes when you were just trying to resume play. Downloads that take a long time, get to 80 or even 95% then cancel for no discernible reason making you start all over again.
a few oddities like the current podcast modal persisting after you manually delete the episode and it fails to store your current episode when you exit the app so you have to go searching for it again, but other than that is a nice little lightweight ad-free app. keep up the good work!
Huge problems resuming podcasts, they often start from the beginning. No ads. Feature request: play button on headphones doesn't work for Podbyte. Volume control is OK.
I came over from iOS and have been looking for the most similar podcast app to iOS podcasts, and this is the closest so far. It would be absolutely perfect with 3 additions; Widget Custom URLs Dark theme I'd happily pay for an upgraded version with these features!
Great podcast player! The best that I know. There two improvement I'd love to see: 1. Dark theme 2. Headphones button does not work as pause/play with this app.
Occasional strange bug where the stream fails about two thirds of the way through, but otherwise nothing much to complain about. Does the intended job just fine.
This is the best podcast app that I have found. There are no ads, it is easy to search for podcasts, it has all the features that I need, and it is a very small download.
I love the fact it is ad free and payment free. That combined with its simplicity is what makes it the best podcast app out there.
Good app. Has queue option. Please add universal settings for playback speed and skip time options. Looks great and had not crashed for me

Easy to use. I was able to find podcasts with PodByte that I couldn't get on other apps.
This is a light and simple to use app without ads. I have realised however that it seems to lack the feature to add via rss so will be in installing
Cannot see whether old program or epidode is downloaded or not. Streaming and downloading are both slow.
The best podcast app I've come across. A bit buggy at times but overall, love it.

I wanted something I could use in a basic way because I am not very technologically literate. I found this easy to use and it enables me to do what I want to do.
Fix Notification UI layout. Add dark theme Ui please. Add translucent status bar.
Does not support SDcard (downloads consume internal storage). Downloads use number codes rather than readable filenames.

I love the UI and the lack of ads, but the app needs a few more features for me to use it. Some things I would love to see in the future: - marking episodes as played - unplayed episodes counter on the podcast cover - auto-delete played episode after a certain amount of time - a way to control individual podcast download settings and the ability to auto-download for offline use - displaying podcast feeds in different chronological order Keep up the good work!
