Awesome. My only complaint is transferring your data over to a new phone (essentially you can do it manually, which doesnt preserve your watched stuff, or pay for their pro subscription, which is excessive if thats the only feature you want). Support is great though, and I love the layout and the way it works.
The best ad-free podcast app! Good interface and many features found in paid apps. I use this everyday and appreciate it! One issue though - the buttons on the notification are far too small, while there is a bunch of wasted space. Makes it hard to pause and rewind. actually has no annoying ads (yet!)
FYI, I tried to share this twice via in-app feedback, but the app glitched. I'm on a good connection. Never had problems playing podcasts. This app often stops playing in the middle of an ep, or refuses to start eps. I have to restart my phone to get it to play. It doesn't list new eps that I know are available, even if I refresh manually. And I have to force close to get rid of the mini player. Edit bc I forgot that the app size swells like crazy (2gb). Nice that the devs are responsive though!
Edit: I received the comment about ads not being inserted but using another app I do not receive the ads. Dunno what to tell you. I do appreciate you quick response. It shows you are an attentive developer. Thanks. Original review: Finds and plays podcasts. Paying for premium is a ripoff especially since theyve gotten much much more aggressive inserting ads in the podcasts. Ridiculous.
I like that all my podcasts are here. I DON'T like that when I have a playlist set up the next episode on the list doesn't play automatically. I also DON'T like that the app stops playing at random times every time I'm using it.
Lots of variety, lots of languages, search is perfect and have never had any connectivity issues. I love the continuous play after turning off screen. Saves a lot of battery throughout the day.
overall a great lightweight podcast app with occasional glitches where it will replay about 30 seconds of a podcast or lose the title and cover of a podcast series and just display a black box in the library grid. still the best of all the apps I've tried.
Can't really recommend this over other podcast apps anymore. The primary appeal to me was the ability to rate and review on Podchaser from within the app, but I've lost literally dozens of reviews (so much time and effort!) by leaving them in the app only for them to never, ever post. To worsen the injury, this was during Reviews4Good & I didn't notice the reviews didn't post until after the month of April ended. I'm so disappointed and frustrated, and I'm still finding missing reviews.
Thinking of coming over from Pocketcasts. Looking the Podcast 2.0 features and layout. Browser playback is a must, so great to see it. Like that notifications have info on the podcast episode. Any plans for 2.0 payments?
I like the "castbox" podcast apps, they are well designed and when working optimumly are my favorite yet for some reason, they only work well for a while then get glitchy and break down. The app takes it 45 seconds to open and then another delay to open the individual podcast menus. Its not my phone because all the other podcast apps work optimumly. Moving on unfortunately.
The app mostly works fine, but seeing white nationalist and conservative christian podcasts in "featured" every time makes me feel gross for using it. Looking for a replacement.
Looking forward to tighter web integration. Still loving it. Excellent search, support for paid rss feeds. Sorting and downloading. It is my podcast app of preference.
Great user interface, smooth and up to date, works flawlessly on several of my devices, and most importantly: they aren't trying to be the thought police.
Excellent! The ease and look of this app is amazing. Not inundated with over zealous ads. You get them but they are not so bold that they take away from the presentation or look. Would definitely recommend to anyone who needs a self explanatory, easy-to-use, good looking podcast app.
Works great! When I was new to the podcast world, I tried a number of apps. Liked PC Guru the best and never looked back.
Great app. All features (free version) work well. Update: Can't work out how to set up the podchaser connection as it just doesn't work Also, the option to loop a podcast would be great, for when one is falling asleep.
Without a doubt the most responsive support team. I don't even pay for the app and they helped me solve a minor playback issue (around pausing and restarting from a position). I highly recommend this for podcast listening very easy to use and well made!
The best podcast app on the planet..! Runs as smooth as silk, simple as 1 2 3 or ABC and the downloads are like lighting. Wow..!
Really easy to use and organize podcasts. Offers A LOT of podcasts. I mainly use this app for podcast listening.
I've used about 5 different apps and guru is by far the smoothest one available. Probably twice as good as the nearest competitor!
Limited visibility. There is no way to see the download progress. Only a flashing " downloading "icon on page. Also you cannot control where the downloads are saved on the internal storage. Making it impossible to share the file with other apps are people.
Really good app. Easy to use and ad-free. Nice collection of podcasts, though sometimes it takes some difficulty to find them. I would really like a feature to sort my subscribed podcasts a in lists as compared to grids. 5/5.
Good app overall, but would it be possible to add a feature that allows offline downloaded episodes to be sorted by podcast? I know it does so manually when not connected to the internet, but it would be helpful to be able to do so manually. Thanks
I love the design of this app. It's very intuitive, and has great options. I do have some recent issues with long periods of buffering periodically during a podcast. I hope this is an issue that will be resolved.
Amazing tool!! I have been using different podcast readers for about 8 years or so. PODCAST GURU is definitely the most efficient and user-friendly. Yet, the 5th * would be once the dear developer team sets up a more smooth way to navigate form one episode description to another (i.e in "latest" section) and allow to rate episodes on several platforms and websites. All the best.
