I have a big issue. When I put episodes in a playlist, it puts the episodes out of order. I do not want it to automatically order them alphabetically or by priority. I want them to be listed in the order that I added them. Others cons, the default settings are awful, and the interface is less than pleasant. I'm looking for a new app to replace podcast addict, but this one is worse.
Best Podcast player because of customization options. Everything that annoyed me with other podcast players can be fixed with Podcast Republic. I contributed $$ immediately to the developer because they don't for expensive subscriptions and offer annoying ads. If you want a player that works the way you want it to, download the app and contribute to the team.
Update - Hi dev guys. Podrepublic is still the best podcasting app. Whatever you did during the last update, however, is running my battery down bad. Since April 6th update, app is using 35% battery. Original - Just changed to Pocast Republic and loving it so far. Very customizable and fast, and it just works. Really like the option to remove ads (already purchased). Google Podcasts was going downhill fast, so it was time to try an alternative.
Loved AntennaPod, but recent problems with updates forced me to find an alternative. WHAT A FIND! I've tried at least a dozen podcast apps, and Podcast Republic is the best by far. Totally configurable, including radio stations and an equalizer. I could have lived with the ads, but paid the $2.99 to support the devs.
I've been using this app ever since I started listening to podcasts 10 years ago. This app has been the standard for what podcast listening platforms should be! Every time the developer updates this app the experience only continues to get better! Shout out to the podcast stopping when you mute the volume (probably my favorite feature)! Next cup of coffee is on me, and thank you for making such a wonderful application! ☕🙏❤
Suddenly when a podcast is finished it doesn't automatically play the next one... though it used to. Very annoying because I need to stop, delete the episode then manually select the next to play. I can't figure out how to fix it or why it changed.
I'm not 100% certain, but I think the bluetooth playback issue was resolved in the last update. If it passes my field test, I have no problems with the app whatsoever! It's good to come back to the best podcast app on the playstore!
Tired of reporting bugs and basically getting told there is a work around or that im doing it wrong. Tired of the app not working correctly i mean you ca t even manually sort a long playlist. Semd a video get told i have to many things running in the back ground. (News flash i closed all applications and waited several minutes before launching the app and the screen record app.) Soof your app has such a memory leak that i have mentioned many times in the past.
I've used Podcast Republic for years, I recently got a new phone and decided to check out the other options available for listening to podcasts. It took about 15 minutes for me to immediately come back to this app. The learning curve was a bit steep, but with some patience the amount of control and flexibility for creating lists and download rules for individual podcasts is incredible. Not to mention the ads, while present, are much less intrusive to the listening experience.
Since a few weeks the player keeps on cutting out. It looks like it is still playing in the widget, but if I open the app the time isn't moving. The only way to get things going again is force closing via the phone settings and restarting. If I just close the app normally, I can start again a few seconds back, but it will cut out at exactly the same spot. Happens every 10-15 minutes, so it's getting really annoying.. It's not related to battery optimization (that's on unrestricted).
Updated review: My last review was good, but not so good, based mainly on the fact that I'd just tried and discarded so many podcast apps I was a little confused. But I love it, it caters to my need to sort everything. The only things that would make it better would be extending to non-Android devices (especially Windows) and a way to force the screen to stay on while using it to make it easier to fast forward and rewind during ad-heavy podcasts or long intos while binging.
I have been using this app for podcasts for years, and I like it a lot. I do wish, though, that in playback instead of the time on both ends showing duration left to play that one end would be time played, the other time left. (It seems redundant to see time remaining twice.) EDITED AFTER RESPONSE FROM DEVELOPERS: How did I never figure that out before now? Thanks very much to the developers for the quick response! (I'm thrilled to no longer have to try to do mental math when listening to podcasts.)
02-2022: I have tried many of the more popular podcasting apps (without subscriptions). This one has the most features, adjustments, and personalization settings of all of them, with a very good FAQ to help you understand the extensive settings. Once you know how to add podcasts from popular sources (even YouTube), you will love this app! The developer very responsive to questions and bug fixes. If you are looking for an "independent", subscription free podcast app, this is the one to get.
Downloaded six or seven podcast apps before I found this one. It cured all the frustrations I had with other apps! Provides a great system to sort podcast episodes into different playlists, waaaay better queuing, ability to pinpoint a certain place within an episode and label that pin whatever you want. I've been searching for these features for years!! Also allows you to tag/label different podcasts for easy access + customise navigation buttons etc. By far the best podcast app I've downloaded
Have been using this app for a while and it has been great, but recently everytime the phone connects to my car's bluetooth the podcasts have been restarting from the beginning, no matter where I stopped it. Otherwise a very good app. Very annoying.
Recently the player keeps popping up again when I move away from it and also podcasts keep randomly skipping back about 20 seconds. Making it hard to use.
This is an amazing app, however minus two stars for this latest update that moved the playback speed from the bottom to the top. If there can be a setting to move the playback speed back to where it was that would be great because I don't use any of the current buttons that are understand the play buttons.
Used this for years but ever since I switched to s22 I can't sign into my account. It gets stuck on Loading when I try to sign in through Google.
Was a big fan until recently when it used most of my mobile data, even though it's set to not play nor download unless it's been already downloaded or connected to wifi.
Tapping 'Remove Ads' brings up a popup asking if I accept the contract, but doesn't tell me how much it'll cost. Not tapping agree unless I know what I'm actually paying, otherwise this feels like a scam.
Avoid! An error caused it to download the same episodes of podcasts multiple times, this used all of my data allowance (10GB in a few hours) and ended up costing me £30.
The ads sections at bottom is too big and the search tool is terrible, I cannot search at all.
I like the app in general but podcast audio will skip back about a minute at least one per play. Yes, I do have "Skip silence turned off."
By far the best podcast app. I've tried every other app out there and they are all missing some feature I think is essential. Podcast Republic solves the problem by having EVERY feature. It's completely customizable. The interface is very well thought out, and so far it has been totally stable, no glitches or crashes. There's a one-time (very low) fee if you want to get rid of ads, although even the ads are not intrusive. I really can't say enough good things about this app!
