PolarisView

An app for Astronomy and Astrophotography enthusiasts that use a German Equatorial Mount for your telescope. PolarisView is a useful utility to assist you while you align your GEM or equatorial mount for your telescope for your astronomy viewing session or for your night of astrophotography. PolarisView will place Polaris on the screen display of your device exactly as you should see it in your polar finder scope. Once you adjust your GEM mount so that the view in your polar finder scope matches the screen display, you are polar aligned for viewing the night sky! The alignment will even get you close enough for short exposure astrophotography as well! For your astronomy viewing sessions, your motorized mount should keep your object in the view all night long! Note that while this application will run on devices in the Southern Hemisphere or near the Equator, you will not be able to use the application to align your mount since Polaris will be below the horizon.

I understand that clicking the check box, inverts the polaris star position, but why. most gem and polar finding scopes are inverted. a small instructional disclaimer would save some bad photos. this app has not been updated since 2016 and I'm barking at a off-tracking moon.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Freezes on target screen at about 10 o'clock on the inner ring. The app appears to be incompatible with Android v9 and/or Samsung One UI.

This app is wrong, skywatcher polar scopes show the image inverted and mirror imaged, in other words, rotated 180 degrees, this app doesn't do that. The polar star position is wrong.

If all you're wanting to know is where Polaris is and where the actual pole is this we'll do it the wonderfully simple application works perfect on a Note 5

Simple app that does exactly what is needed to orient Polaris for polar align. Thanks!

Software requires GPS. Needs manual GPS input. Completely unuseable, uninstalled immediately.

Very simple. Works. Dark background. What more could you want.

I have a C8 from 1985. How do I use this app? I need to polar align my scope

I had been looking for an 'easy to use' app to show Polaris position - and this app fits the bill perfectly for me.

This is exactly what I needed. I've been looking for it since I bought my scope a month ago. It does the job. I only wish the font could be larger. In low light it is difficult for the eye to focus on such a small print.

This is a great app that loads quickly and is utterly simple to use. I use it to double check my HA from my handcontroller to just confirm my P.A. and I can't fault it. Excellent download for the astrophotographer.

This is a great app, very useful. I'd like to see however the actual calculated position of Polaris either in hh:mm or in degrees format. This should not be too complicated to add as the software needs to calculate it anyway to be able to display it.

Helps me a lot, but I think that it would be nice if the developer adds a numbered position of polaris for example 10:30 o'clock. Thanx

Excellent app. Can you please add the Hour Angle of Polaris? This will allow for more precise positioning of the reticle.

I'm in southern california at 5pm on feb. 8th. Is the dot supposed to be at the very bottom of the reticle?

Gre. S. Jan 11, 2018

I have to say I don't get it, I want to but there is no instructions at all

Mag. L. Jan 28, 2018

No instructions, no settings, just a white blob at the 9 o'clock position in some form of reticle. I can tell that the GPS is working thu.

I guess it would be ok if I knew how to use it. There's no instructions at all. I have a Polar align scope with the constellations etched on it and I think this app us for those without them.

This app works great! I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 with Android Lollipop

I tried this on my Nexus 4 - it achieved a GPS lock quickly, but then nothing. Just a non-moving white spot on the target. The app SkEye can find Polaris, so I don't know why this can't. Shame, as it would be very useful to me.
