Please update your app. It says last updated August 1, 2014. The push notification preview is blacked out in the notifications bar, and if selected, they're not immediately viewable on the Galaxy S7. I have to wait about two minutes before I can read the article, otherwise, I get an error message. The rest of the app functions as expected. UPDATE 08.23.19: This app is even worse on the Galaxy Note 10+. The app refreshes, but if you click on an article, it's empty. No text. No pictures. Horrible

I like the content, and the interface is good, BUT everytime I get a notification it is blank! It's a waste of my time look at my phone and not be able to see what they're reporting! I've tried to contact them about the issue but havenneve received a reply. This issue happens has happened on multiple samsung phones. Hopefully (but doubtful) this issue will be fixed at some point.

I have been really, really patient with this app, but I've reached my breaking point. Let me just sat that I love Politico and I love their articles. However, the app is, frankly, garbage. For months, I have been hoping that the Politico alert system would be fixed, but it has stayed the same. Every time I get a news alert, it appears on my phone as a black bar with none of the words generating. When I open up the alert, it often doesn't even have the alert and says it's not available. Avoid!

Not a good, or even fully developed app. I have a Galaxy 4 tablet and a number of issues with the Politico app. 1) many times I open a story and it simply will not load, leaving me with an empty screen. When this happens I often have to reboot the device and then the app is OK for a little while but then the whole problem starts again. 2) On the Galaxy 4 tablet, the app will not rotate to a horizontal screen from the vertical. Politico, I think you can do a lot better.

Very buggie app. It sends out notification that a news article is available, but when you click on the notification, it first opens the app to show that article, and then 2 seconds later, it blanks out and tells you the article is not available. Another frequent issue: you select an article to read, and it takes you to a completely different article. This app could seriously benefit from being completely revamped.

It has good articles, though it appears it is getting more biased in its reporting. Used to be a time when u could see a number of articles just looking at the data without a political bent. No more, everyday I see more articles slighted to the left! Gone are the days of just presenting the data and letting the reader makeup their mind. Folks wake up or you will go the way of NYT or Washington Post, they have lost tens of readers!

The news content is great and I've had the app for years but the new app is super annoying with several notifications per day that can't be disabled in the settings. I've gotten about a dozen interruptions today and can't take it any longer. This leaves me no option except to uninstall it. I'll check back in a month or so to see if it improves and decide whether to install it.

1. Does not reload with new articles on opening. Having to go into the settings and manually clear the cache to force that to happen. 2. If I have closed the app I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR FROM IT. Should not have to dig around in the android settings to stop the notifications. It would ALSO be nice to be able to pay for an upgraded version so I am not looking at ads. They eat screen real estate I would like to use for reading the articles.

Content is good, and layout is simplistic but workable and attractive enough. It does have issues loading content from notifications - most of the time the article will temporarily display and then say it can't be loaded. It also does not update automatically upon opening. If they fix these two things I'd re-rate to five stars.

App crashes all of the time and I have to restart it, and even this doesn't work sometimes. Articles fail to load most of the time. Why??? Otherwise, the progress bar that appears at the top when reading stories is really nice! I wish all of the news apps would do this!

Same news stories displayed for over three weeks. No daily updates. Will also send a new news notice but when you click to read it takes you to a Politico screen saying 'no content' then flips to the 3+ week old news list. Others have complained but nothing has been repaired or updated. So..off to find a more workable/reliable app. Don't waste your time with this one.

App constantly gives me notifications for articles (that I often want to read), but never allows me to read them. Everytime I click a notification it crashes and says no internet connection, even though I can still use every app on my phone, including Politico, without any connectivity issues. Edit: uninstalled the app. After months the same issue was never fixed

If you get a notification from this app about breaking news, ignore it. If you tap on the notification the article will load completely, just long enough for you to read the first sentence, only to be replaced by a notification stating that the article is not available and that you should check your internet connection. This happens 100% of the time, regardless of the state of your internet connection. Use your browser instead.

Frustrating, to say the least. This is the only news app I use that fails to work consistently. Click on an article, then nothing. Clear the cache and it works for a short while. Uninstall it, the reinstall, and it works again for a short while. Repeat this over and over, and you'll understand why I'm uninstalling it permanently.

This app does not work properly. I get notified of new items. When I click the notification it launches the app, shows the article for a few seconds and then displays a message that the article is not available yet. I can see the article on the web site but not in the app until hors later.

Don't waste your time on this app. It was good once upon a time but there is rarely any new content now, they just rearrange the stories several times a day so it looks different when you open the app. Also there is a paywall that has appeared recently so if they do produce new content it is mostly locked behind a subscription and you can't access it. It seems to just pop up for random articles. Done with Politico.

Absolutely atrocious app. Politico is one of my most trusted news sources, but the interface, notifications and bugs in the app make it unusable. The quality is pathetic, with constant crashes, errors and major design flaws. The notifications straight up dont work, often displaying no information at all. This shouldn't be this hard, please fix it.

Great content but can you please fix the damn app? Its frankly terrible. The push notifications are blacked out and youll have to wait 2 minutes to be able to click them or itll send you to an error page Also sometimes the app just wont load articles that I click on. Please fix this cause its annoying. If your app did what its supposed to you would get 5 stars easy.

Politico is a great organization producing outstanding articles. But something recently happened with this app. New articles are listed but those articles can't be opened. Clicking on them results in a blank page. Very frustrating. Please fix this problem.

Politico is an excellent site, mostly balanced, leaning slightly to the left. The app is good but often on closing an article it loses your place so scrolling down to find it is required.

This app is terrible. Persistent ads, full page ads, and you have to manually download the things you want to read. I shouldn't be getting an ad for Wish through my trusted news source, it makes it seem like this app was made by a high schooler. Also, the Illinois playbook isn't even available through the app. I have never seen an app that was less convenient than just going to the website. The fact that the app hasn't been updated since 2014 is the likely culprit of all my woes.

I like Politoco, the app is only OK. On many occasions, after the page seemingly appeared correctly, it still had the loading icon and most of the times this happens, o get a message.sayong article unavailable, check back later. The other recent issue I have is the update got rid of the red progress bar at the top that showed how far along you are in the article.

It is truly remarkable that across update after update headlines still don't refresh upon opening, articles often take far too long to load, and sometimes won't load at all, and that programmers are still being paid for this kind of incompetent work. None of these problems existed last year. A good example of an app being ruined through bad "updates," poor company/team leadership, and poor beta testing.

It is more effective for a student who learn and read online English news paper with freely. I argued that some problems were gathered here that is minute for everyone. Eventually, this app is beneficial for online news learners.

I don't know what's wrong with this app. It always has issues refreshing with current stories. Currently I can't get any content to load except stories from 2 months ago, probably when I previously got fed up with it. I might actually read Politico if their app worked on Android! Not worth it to try to spend time troubleshooting.

Often when I receive push notifications & click on the link, I get a message telling me the article is no longer available. If I go to the Politico website, the articles are there. I keep my app updated, so I'm not sure if this is just a bug. So I'm uninstalling the app and I'll just check the website periodically.

The new update keeps crashing, is more invasive, and I cannot turn off notifications. It is cluttered as well. The old one was a better design. I like reading their coverage, but I am seriously considering getting rid of them now.

Good app for the political news, but I deleted one star because even though I have my phone set for night mode, this app overrides my phone setting and shows up on my screen with black print on a white background. It irritates me that the app developers went to extra effort to make my phone behave in a way that I didn't want.

Have only been using the app a few days, but it's already one of my favorites. Easy to use, lots of info, and frequent news updates so I know what's going on. The article summaries are clear and the ads are readable but not intrusive. Reserving 5* until I have more time with the app, but so far I'm impressed.
