Okay after you get used to the rather eccentric interface. Backing up isn't intuitive, the buttons are labelled in heiroglyph rather than a language and lack tooltips, the link to register the products leads to a 404 page, and applying an update is a bit of a pain (hint: use the utility app, it does exactly what needs doing very well). It's a good app, under the hood, but could have a far better interface and layout. It's the DTS app repackaged by Polk, by the by... identical. Both work fine with the speakers, but DTS shows an additional firmware update that may or may not work with Polk speakers. Simply, why don't they do it the way HEOS does, with "one app to rule them all" rather than several different repackaged duplicates for every vendor's products?
It connected to my device, but it's useless. I use the Polk soundbar and subwoofer with my tv. The app shows a volume bar but it doesn't do anything with the tv. I want to control the volume, treble, and bass. There are also several bugs and a tedious user interface.
Awful. Just Awful. The speakers are great! The app is awful. No updates since 2019. The app keeps loosing connection. Repeatedly. I can't get through a few songs without issues let alone and entire party. This will just frustrate the holy living hell out of you.
This app is a piece of trash and won't connect to my sb1 sound bar. The sound bar sounds perfectly fine but turns off every 2 minutes and I have no way to connect or fix it. It would be nice if there was a solution to the sound bar being "smart" by turning itself off
It doesn't even work when I try to set up an account, please fix this so I can access Alexia to be able to use voice command it doesn't do anything, it's like it hates me or something, yet I bought your product to get great stereo sound & this app won't let me do anything, I'm very dissapointed by the fact that I paid for a product that I'm not getting the full value from & I would appreciate you fixing it to the point that it actually works because when you spend that kinda money on a product you expect good service
utter trash. worthless app that's wasted so much of my time trying to connect to the soundbar and in the outside chance it does connect it wont download the REQUIRED update. calling support tomorrow to try one last time before throwing these back in the boxes and returning them.
Works well with some service, but has trouble with most. So far it works great with Amazon Music but is terrible with SiriusXM. Will only function with a 2.4G wifi connection. You would think they would adopt 5G wifi connection for a streaming service.
Terrible control options. Polk provides no way to disable Alexa. That means when your enjoying a movie or whatever get ready for constant interuptions. The hardware is awesome, the software is horrible.
Sigh, I do really love Polk...but wow this app is horrible...its as frustrating as trying to tie your shoes with boxing gloves on...difference is your more likely to succeed in the later...Polk staff, please just yank this and put out a product that can actually see devices, control them, and label them in an intuitive manner...this is maddening.
I was happy with this app prior to the update on Aug 31 - then, just like everyone else, none of my equipment will pair leaving it useless and silent. Since Polk's tech support is only open 10-5 EST I tried to fix this problem on my own first. I tried hard resetting each play fi speaker, power cycling my router, uninstalling the app, deleting the app from my google account, etc, etc. and nothing worked. That all changed today when I called Polk. The man at the other end of the phone was polite, and in less than 5 minutes everything was back working. He acknowledged that the Polk app has a flaw in it that is not allowing the app to pair with their play fi devices. He directed me to the "DTS Play-Fi" app, telling me it is the parent app of the Polk Omni version. The two look and behave identically - so problem solved!
UPDATE 9/1/19 It seems to have started working. The interface still needs work but it's been functional. Absolute Trash makes hi quality wireless listening impossible. Get it together Polk good thing I got the speaker on clearance or I would really be mad
I should have went with Bose force update today and now it will not connect back to the device. And found out uninstalling the app from your phone does nothing because it saves all your settings so you can't remove things and reset them up
This app is needed for the Polk wireless speakers and it works fine. With a Upnp media server on your NAS this app will pick it up but not 100% reliable so far... but the DTS Play-Fi app does it all better
App has a bug & needs to be updated by Polk. The speakers are all but useless without it. PLEASE FIX THIS!
The idea it's nice, but they still have a lot of work on this app. sometimes it's driving me crazy. I finally managed to connect the second speaker to the system. i had to to redo all of them.
Got the August update installed and now none of my speakers will pair. Really frustrated with this system over many years. About time to find something better
Won't find device nothing but wasted hours way less than zero stars when I did have it work on my old network it just glitch glitch glitch reboot this reboot thay gimme my matantz and JBL speakers back quality doesn't exhist in the wireless world better performance from a close and play...
it said I needed to update my devices but would not update them and the utility app said everything was up to date. It would not work so I tried to delete the app and download it but noe it is unavailable to download.
what a joke I've spent two days trying to download this app then you got to upgrade it to the utility app and that doesn't work and I can't get my music to play through any of my devices my Google Play or Pandora granted it's a great sound from my TV anybody got any suggestions
I purchased $1200 of Polk Omni speakers and all I have are problems! I moved my router closer still don't work, call for help they don't know! I would like a refund from Polk Audio! But I know that will never happen. NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER!!
App wont even open. Speakers are a paperweight now... an expensive paper weight. Was great when the app worked.
Rubbish since the update. Cannot find my S6 and when it does and connects successfully on one screen cannot find it again on the home screen
Was great for a while, but now looses connection half way into the first song and that's all she wrote.
hey polk. when I play music off my sd card in my Samsung it alphabetize the albums which is a total bummer its ruins the vibe of quite a few albums please fix this.
Constantly loses connection. Won't be buying Polk products in the future.
Quick registration brings you to a broken link and then couldn't find my soundbar.
This app is terrible. Even when it was working it always lost its connection multiple times while I was using it, causing the music to cut off unexpectedly. Now, ever since the latest update, the software keeps saying it can't find the speaker at all. It's such a same that this app is so buggy because the speaker has amazing sound quality. Right now, however, it might as well be giant paperweight as it won't even turn on due to the poor quality of this app (and while we're at it, why force the user to download a separate app to update the first app?).
