Pollen Wise - Navigate Your Seasonal Allergies

You are probably suffering more from allergies -or medicating more- than you have to!

If you have asthma, hay fever or seasonal allergies, knowing what is in TODAY's air is more valuable than knowing what was in YESTERDAY's air. Unlike your current pollen report or app, Pollen Wise connects you with timely information from new pollen sensors. They create reports every few minutes for an hourly average. For the first time, this kind of information helps you make decisions about your exposure to pollen.

Ever-changing levels of pollen can make it difficult to know when you should go outside or when it's better to stay inside. For example, levels can spike on one day at 11 am, drop at 2 pm, then begin climbing again until 8 pm. On the following day those levels could be reversed, but you'd never know without the kind of details that Pollen Wise can provide you because your source for pollen information is based on predictions and yesterday's counts.

If you have better information, it only makes sense to use it. Pollen Wise: What's in your air, when and where...

So far very useful, already subscribed to the paid version. Definitely finding a correlation to my asthma symptoms to certain pollens. The only thing that has me baffled is what does the green bar at the far right of the history graph indicate??

This could be really good... But does anyone have a sensor near them? I put in several major cities and the only one to say a sensor was "normal" was NYC. The limited sensors make this unusable for me. And why can't it show where the closest sensor is? At least then you would know how inaccurate your predictions might be.

This app is excellent, very informative as far as the types of allergens in the air, forecasts, and trends. All useful if you are wondering what is making your life miserable (no it won't inform you about a bitchy partner is going to act today) an help you to make smart changes in your plans. Good work. No, Outstanding work! Update 3/22 I tried to create an account but the app will not allow a password combination of any type. *frustration level 10* I am ready to change to another app. Downrated to 3 stars.

LOVE!!! I have asthma and allergies so being able to know the conditions out doors really help. Wear a mask outside during peak pollen count and this really helps. Have been for years long before covid came on the scene. Thank you, along with the alerts the app is easy to understand.

Was great but for the last month or so the sensor went from being close to very far, I don't believe it's even in Utah anymore since it appears to be for Las Vegas. Kind of pointless if the data isn't even for the state you are in.

This app was amazing for about a week, and then it switched from a very near sensor to very far. No longer accurate, unfortunately, so I had to find another forecaster. Tried sending a message to support team but never got a response. If the sensor problem got sorted out I'd highly recommend, though! The interface is awesome and it's super convenient when working properly!

Great app! By far the best app I have used to check pollen counts. I have really bad allergies as well as asthma bc of it. I have to check the pollen count hourly if possible to avoid exposure (to the best of my ability). I've tried other apps and they aren't as accurate. This app is not only accurate, but nice to look at and it has useful information in just the right amount of words. I also like that I am able to track how I feel and it uses that data to provide notifications/warnings.

REVISED 2020-06-06 —— I downloaded 8-10 pollen/allergy apps and this one was my keeper because of its relative accuracy (for my area anyway; YMMV), its privacy (doesn't ask for *any* permissions), and its clear, user-friendly UI. And it gets better with each release. The recent UI redesign in 1.4.0 that features an at-a-glance bar graph of current conditions and forecasts in 2-hour increments is fantastic! Clicking the ">" to view more gets you a line-graph forecast for each allergen that shows 3 days at a time. —— The "How do you feel" journal has been vastly improved the not only let users report symptoms, but also to customize which symptoms you're asked to report. There are a few UX issues (there's a field for entering notes, but it's hard to find), that will likely get smoothed out in the next couple releases. But, the journal needs to ask if you've taken any allergy meds, so it's clear if your symptoms are being tamped down or not in each entry, and there needs to be a way to add entries for a previous date. Also, a calendar view would be great, so users to get an at-a-glance view of trends in their symptoms. —— But more than anything, I'd like an alert feature, so PollenWise could, for example, notify me in advance when tree pollen will get above a certain level. (I'm keeping one other pollen app *only* because it does this, but it's not as accurate as PollenWise).

when this app works, it works very well. it seems to be pretty buggy though. For days at a time, the graph will stop showing peaks and valleys, and it will report a different value than the header. There is no way to look back more than 3 days in the past, and the forecast clearly just duplicates the past 24h period, which means it is very rarely right. EDIT: this app has been reporting "All Clear" for all allergens in my area for 3 days now. The data is clearly garbage. Deleting the app.

This app was great, I would wake up with sticky eyes and trouble breathing, quick check yup mold counts in the RED. The sensor was 41 miles away and the app was spot on! A few days ago I woke up feeling bad knowing the mold counts were going to be RED but much to my surprise they showed green all good. I knew something was off looked down and the sensor was 245 miles away! What happened, I live 45 miles S.W. of Chicago the 3 largest city is the country how is there no longer a closer sensor.

I really like that this app shows the hourly forecast for the day for my area, and separates the levels for different allergen groups. It helps to see the forecast for the next day too. I haven't used the journal much yet but I like that I can change which assumptions to show. This is much more helpful than a general description for a wider region.

Sensor is far away, but I will test it out. I live in Jacksonville, Florida USA. It is the largest city in Florida. About 1,000,000.00 people with many colleges and universities. I'm not sure why there is not a closer sensor. App UI is awesome. Keep working on it. Has great potential. Will change to 5 Stars when there is a closer sensor and I thoroughly test the app.

Best allergy/asthma tracking app I've tried! Unlike many similar apps, this one does NOT require you to sign up for an account. I love the detailed hourly information. Things that would be cool to see added: 1.) Widgets. Preferably a 1x1, but a few size options would be nice. 2.) Ability to add custom symptoms/more symptom options. The specific symptoms I'd like to add: itchy nose, itchy throat, headache, dizziness.

Not useful on its own- incomplete/inaccurate reports. I want to love this app. It's beautiful and the data is laid out exactly like I want from an allergy report app. The problem is, it's inaccurate. The data reflected in this allergy report based on my location conflicts with multiple other allergy reports from my local area- the primary culprit being grasses which I am highly allergic to. Multiple other sources showing moderate to high levels, this app shows zero. Not useful if not accurate.

Ang. R. Jun 26, 2020

I really like this app but I question it's accuracy considering the nearest sensor is apparently 99 miles away from me. That definitely cannot account for the pollen in my own backyard. Please allow entries for past days. Also, I know it doesn't relate to pollen, but what if your app could integrate with Samsung health so we could see how the food we eat might also be contributing to allergy symptoms? I really like the interface a lot and haven't found a similar app to log food interactions.

Nearest sensor is "Very Far". From the answer given on the FAQ, this sounds like it could be anywhere from 100 to 1000+ miles away. Hard to know if the information is locally relevant at all. If the app & FAQ were honest enough to admit some locations are probably too far away to be helpful, but anything "Very Far" is within some distance still useful for local use it'd be helpful. As is currently presented, it sounds like the nearest sensor could be 3 states away. You don't need to give exact positions of your sensors to provide honest ranges like "10-20 miles", "20 to 50 miles", "50-100 miles", "100-200 miles", "200+ miles", so users in the 200+ miles zones can look for other options rather than delude themselves trusting the "Very Far" label to be locally applicable.

This app is very helpful, I just wish there was a sensor closer to my home... Update: you already have a new sensor very near me! Great job all!

Dav. M. Jun 21, 2021

Inaccurate, made up garbage. The layout is bad. It constantly reminds you that your closest sensor is 'very far' , which means that the forecasts and information are pointless, and meaningless. It also prompts you to buy a sensor.... hmm okay. I matched the results from pollen wise to many other data sources, it was always wrong.

Wow! This is the best pollen/allergy app I've ever used! Downloaded a few others before this because they had more users, but this one is hands down the most accurate and useful. Really informative and pleasing user interface as well! Thank you for making this app. Also just wanted to suggest a way to view the previous 24hrs of data? It would be helpful to see that data

The alergy radar thing is far away from where i live, over 100 miles. But the real reason im only giving 3 stars is i have registered an account and verified, however everytime i try to make a journal entry i select the symptoms and hit the next button and only get a spinning loading wheel thing. It won't save my information for the allergy journal. Other than those 2 things it works as advertized.

Rae. C. Feb 4, 2021

I like this app as it helps me prepare for the weather. Is there a way you can get it to send you notifications on desired city (currently not getting push notifications that are turned on). I like the ability to watch multiple cities at once.

Meg. N. Aug 18, 2020

I like this app, but really wish there was a sensor in my area. The closest one is 150 miles away. Edit #1 because since I wrote this, my nearest sensor is now 75 miles away. Also, liking the journal for tracking symptoms. Could use the option of "sinus headache" under symptoms too. Edit #2, back down to 3 stars. I lost my local station and now the forecasts don't help.

Ail. K. Oct 12, 2020

Super impressed with all the information, especially because it's so local! Love being able to tie my symptoms over time to what's in the air. I get sinusitis but not usually itchy eyes etc, so it's really helpful to see what sets me off tracking over time.

Kri. N. Apr 1, 2021

Edit to edit: Back to 5. I appreciate the feedback from Pollen Wise. It is now back to being nearby. If it ever changes, I'll just keep checking for when there is a closer location again. :) Edit to 5 star: Had to change to 3. For the longest time it said the closest sense station was 16 miles away but now it's 37 in Austin. I'm closer to San Antonio and in Hill Country. In this area that makes a big difference. I still use it to get an idea, but I wish it was closer like it was before.

This aspp has the most details out of any allergen forecast app out there. Lots of data, graphs, and hour by hour predictions. You can even ask it to give you an alert when the pollen levels change either going up or going down. It'll give you a notification at the beginning of the day to know when is the best time to exercise outside considering the allergens in your area. Super cool! Super useful!

Ami. N. Aug 11, 2020

This app is absolutely great for anyone suffering from hay fever. I have just one teeny weeny problem. The nearest sensor to my location is a astonishing 7075 miles away. I don't think a sensor that far away will be able to provide an accurate description of the amount of pollen in my area. Unless the producers tackle this issue, this app just cannot work for me, though it is not the producers' fault. If you live relatively close to a sensor, I would totally recommend.

Mol. M. Jun 24, 2021

I'm sure this app is great for users in the US but zero data for the UK. At peak season it shows 0 level for all pollen types. If you don't cover a country just come out and say it. Allergy sufferers rely heavily on accurate information to help them live their lives. It's a shame as the information the app provides looks quite comprehensive.

Cra. W. May 7, 2021

Sensors not always reliable. Sometimes "very close" (what does that mean?). Sensor is again "very close"!. The app is very useful again after being "very far" for a couple of weeks.

Sha. N. May 13, 2020

Exceptional app! This helps me see the specific pollen levels for trees and grasses I'm allergic to. It helps me feel prepared if I want to plan time in the yard with lower pollen counts. The app also gives a plethora of knowledge on preventative care. Love this!

And. V. May 6, 2021

App is great if you have one of their pollen sensors close to you. I had 1 Very Close to me that was very accurate. Then it went offline. Now my sensor is Very Far and shows high pollen count for tree types we don't even have in my county, so I know it must be really really far. So if you have a close sensor, I give app 5 stars.
