In theory this app sounds great, and I really want to love it. However I find it incredibly frustrating that updating any settings are locked behind the paid feature. My pool settings are stuck at what they were the first time I tested it, before making adjustments. I'll probably still use it to help calculate chemicals, but not being able to update any of my pool settings unless I pay a subscription for the app means those options will continue to be locked to me. Perhaps if I had the ability to update settings but not save history on the free version, I would be more inclined to use the app more and eventual subscribe if I find it worth it, but as it is the app is too restricted for me to explore it enough to justify a purchase.
App requires personal info to use and you can't even beck out of the screen requesting said information
UPDATE: Borates works now, and i haven't seen it fail to save my logs since updating. Very happy with the app now but I would like a one time purchase option and would pay extra for it, even if it only allows local storage. Original review below: Really useful app, but: 1. Tapping the borates card crashes the app. 2. If you leave the app open too long, it starts consistently refusing to log anything. Review would be 5 stars if not for these issues.
I signed up for the subscription yesterday, im paying becauce your website has helped me countless times with diagnostic, repair and maintenance. im still testing all the features included in the app. so far Ive ran into an issue with the summary feature not showing any data. In addition i have a suggestion, in the log feature you can add "Cost" for chemical, utilities parts and so on. I think if possible the summary feature should calculate the total cost for pool maintenance yearly/monthly.
The preset parameters do not line up with widely-accepted industry standards, and are not able to be modified in the app. [For example: ideal total alkalinity should be 80-120, however this app specifies 50-90] Same goes for pH. Ideally should be 7.4-7.6, but app specifies 7.6-7.8. These parameters should be set by the user for their particular use application. In general, this is not a well organized/executed program/app. I wish I had realized that prior to the $8 premium purchase.
As I am new to the pool reading game, I thought this app would be worth a try. Easy to use and enter readings and maintenance, but not so easy to print a report. The only "work around" I have been able to do is saving to Google Drive and then printing. Keep up the good work!
Since my initial review, I've come to know TFP. Their advice has saved me hundreds, well worth supporting. There are still minor bugs, like not remembering previous settings, or improper sorting when updating a historical record. The database of SWG is US centric, surprising as there are lots of non-US supporters on TFP. However, this is the best way to support TFP and the best way to manage your pool.
NOT -- Have to create an account just to check it out, only to find out useless without premium subscription. Back up my data via my phone mechanisms, you don't need me to create an account. Be more up front about the premium subscription and free limitations. My son is learning how to maintain the pool. The paid subscription is tied to my Android account so there's no way to share data between his device and money even if a got the premium subscription.
Won't let me put in new test results, says my subscription expired. My subscription is on auto renew. When I press resubscribe, it says it was successful, then asks if I dropped my phone in the pool. Uninstalled/reinstalled. Uninstalled, restarted my phone then reinstalled. No change. Guess I'll have to use the Clorox app.
Best pool/spa maintenance system app. Makes it so easy to keep your water Trouble Free! No ads but you really need the minimally priced subscription to get the most out of it.
I can't save any data get error message about my phone going swimming. it also has too few categories for expenses. it seems to work fine on my PC. I like to support apps that seem useful so I subscribed, I should have tested it first.
Great app! Been using it since my pool was built last summer. Great for helping me remember when I added my chemicals...which if you join the website, TroubleFreePool, which I highly recommend, you'll quickly learn the true facts of water chemistry and how easy it is to manage your pool yourself. Another great app feature is the "effects of adding". Let's say you need to add chlorine, muratic acid, or baking soda, it tells you how much to add depending on your pool size and the effect.
Not a fan of this. Just want a simple calculator, no need for logins, cloud saves and syncing, etc. Not sure why this app couldn't do both, but it appears to be nonfunctional as a simple standalone calculator like their website used to have. This would appeal to folks who don't mind or desire the cloud based functionality
Great app. Have been using tfp for years. Before that I could never maintain my pool water. This app makes it even easier with telling you what to add etc. You can use it without paid subscription I did for a few years to make sure I like it. Now I pay to support and keep a record of my additions. It's $8 people it will save you that dumping the wrong chemicals in.. get the tfp test kit and this app and mainting a great pool!!!
Just another application that requires you to give away your data vs opt into data share. Why do I need to make yet another account or grant a token to a third party application that doesn't specalize in security when statistics say it will be compromised some day? This is a calculator with a history option. It should be smart enough to stand on its own and not need to talk to the internet.
The app is a little quirky but probably the best one currently out there. But more importantly, the companion website is absolutely fantastic. There are great people who are always willing to help you with all your pool problems and more. I paid for the pro version mainly to help support the community.
The user interface is baffling. I finally figured out that to enter a round of tests I needed to press the "+" button. I entered the tests. The next day I did another set of tests. To enter them, I pressed the "+" button again. Hmm, is that right? Because when I do, PoolMath asks me to upgrade to a premium subscription. How do I enter more tests?
