Essential service for those wanting to travel between cities without a car or trying to reduce their environmental footprint. The app UI is great and the reputation system effective. Prices are also reasonable with the app only taking a small cut of the payment and most of it going to the drivers.
Suggestion to add a feature to ask passengers/ riders to delete their ad or just post something if they have already accepted a ride or their ride got cancelled. Out of 10 ride request 8 of them are already booked outside the app and ad was still not removed. I have been doing ridesharings before poparide started I already suggested a lot before but don't see anything come into play even after this app is published. Good thing about it is affordable rides for all students.
Poparide is wonderful, but service fees are more than $5. Even with all of the effort, Uber eats and SKIP charges only $2 to $3. Poparide takes away 20% of the earnings despite the fact that drivers are putting in all of the effort. It should be no more than 10%. Drivers should be able to drop customers off at specified pick up and drop off and be charged accordingly. When the weather is severe and they have to change buses, paying a little extra saves them time, money, energy and gives safety
I haven't received my payment in estimated given date. Its already 4 days late and upon that you are asking me to wait few more days for the payment. This is really bad from your side, i even linked my paypal so that i get it on time.
The biggest downside of this app is how the payout fee is so massive and it also changes too, sometimes it's 2$ other times it's 10$ . Competitor app Kangaride only charges 5$ per trip no matter the distance. Sure their structure is a bit different but still. From someone who travels regularly between Montreal and Toronto and Ottawa, Poparide while having the best app design, seems to be the greediest. Furthermore an absence of a customer service phone line is problematic as well.
Drivers keep canceling last minute. I've booked 4 rides the past 7 days. 2 drivers confirmed within 24 hours but they both eventually canceled last second... Not enough incentive for drivers to hold their end of the bargain.. Each time I've had the money taken from my account to reserve the ride and it takes 3-5 days before I've received the money back on my card. I would like to have the option to rate the driver if they have the right to cancel last minute. It's a huge inconvenience...
Great experience on my first trip. The app was fairly easy to use and worked well. Definitely recommended. I wish is able to add more in between stops (currently max 5). Couldn't find how to leave a review for my passengers until the app prompted me. I like that it suggests trip costs. I don't like that I couldn't remove some trip options (i.e pick-ups in communities late in my journey).
It's ok and works. But the layout of this app is terrible. Unusable for messages. Maybe it works on the developers phone, but no, it's brutal. There's also zero weather or safety options. It forces drivers to push forward in bad weather to not get any bad reviews or canceld trip stats and yet, as a passenger, It would be far better for everyone to just understand weather can slow a trip. It's worth it to check out the other ride share options first before this one.
Great app! Simple, fast, and beautiful. It's like AirBNB for ride-sharing. So glad this is a thing now... there are so many cars on the road with only one passenger, going long distances. I feel safe offering and taking rides with the app, with their transparency efforts. I'd like to see the option for drivers to upload a clean driver's abstract if available (not required, but if the driver has it).
The app works great and it's a great way for drivers and passengers to connect. The only reason I gave four stars is that it can take more than a week for the payment to be transferred to you; not sure why it takes so long to process the payment and deposit to my account when the money is secured once the passenger has their ride confirmed which could happen lomg before the trip occurs. Overall a great service but I can't give 5 stars with payments that take so long.
It was an enjoyable ride; super relaxing with great conversation.
The app is great. It's easy to find passengers. Just have one suggestion. We need option of tip. Because as a driver I can't keep the price above the recommended price atleast with the option to tip. Customers who liked the service have the option to tip especially because taking cash even as a tip is not allowed.
App works great. Only thing that could be improved is notifications. I get too many notifications. Every time someone messages, you get app notification and email notifications. This is unnecessary. Please remove email notifications for messages. Edit: Notification preference can be set as per developer response below.
Great rideshare app with some really safe and friendly drivers
Been using poparide for a year now, and find that the developers have been putting some time in, to making the app better. But within a year they have not found a way to pay drivers quicker for services rendered. It's been over a week now, and I still have not been paid. Being a avid traveler, and the high price of fuel, it shouldn't take longer then 2 days for payment. Yes, it is a ride share, but a business on both sides. I think this is their biggest down fall for getting more driver to join.
The app is among the easiest option around. But, the company is getting greedy and charging drivers 3.15%. They charge 15% on the passengers- isn't that enough? They'd consider $15 (minus their cut) for a 100km trip as being a profit for the driver. They also keep some ride rates artificially low by regulating it instead of providing a free market. They make money while you are operating below costs. I'm not asking to make money, just to break even. Adding a charge to the driver is bad taste.
There aren't many cost-friendly options to get between the town I live in and the nearby city. This app has been a huge help and made it so we can remain a one car family. Everyone that I've ridden with has been great and the app is ridiculously easy to use.
poparide is a great way to travel cross country in Canada, with the rating and review system, and ability to contact the driver thought the app it is really easy to ensure you're not being scammed or travelling with someone sketchy. I definitely reccomend using it for long distances.
Getting set up and conected was great. It was all the underline ways they get money. I was charging $10 to give someone a ride, that person gets charged the ride service fees for the app so they pay $12, plus I only recived $9.68 becuase they charged me a service fee too.
This app was a blessing to me and my friend looking to travel from Banff to Calgary airport last minute. A lot of shuttles and taxis were charging $200 or even $300 while this app helped us find a friendly, safe driver for a fraction of this cost. Really like this app and wish we had it functioning in Toronto. Only suggestion would be that I wish it gave you the car details prior to the meet time so you know which vehicle to look out for.
I downloaded the application as a driver, I got requests for a ride, I couldn't find people comfortable for ride so I decline 2 passenger, on the very second day poparide took off my account, I wasn't noticed about it at all, when I tried to log in again the app was saying "there are validation errors". I tried to connect poparide customer service but there is no info to contact directly. It made me feel poparide is making drivers as a toy its their wish to keep or no. Policy are for name sake
My first experience with this app was great! Pro: My driver was fantastic, and so were the other passengers. It really saved my soy bacon, I'm thankful for this service! Con: only issue I had was the app would sometimes take a while to load conversations.
I have saved some money, time and engery with Poparide. I feel however, that in the future you can pick the type of vehicles you would like to travel in, every driver have his/her vehicles info [like car type , color ect.] and, a loyalty reward system that see passengers get a free ride after a certain number.
Could not even sign in to this app! Wondering if it has to do anything with Abbotsford airport ?! Because webpage wouldn't open for poparide Revised version: once off the Abbotsford horrible spotty internet, I was able to sign in with no problem! This is a complete mystery! I wish it had worked right away, so I could give this ' pop a ride' idea a go.
I've been using this app since 2019 and it has never failed me. Connects drivers and passengers and secure payment. If the driver cancels your trip you get full refund I think even with booking fee. Keep it up developers 👌
Poparide is a delightful and cheap alternative to expensive railroad and bus travel. I have yet to have a negative experience, and unlike uber, poparides service charge is fairly low. So far it's been pretty great (:
I was able to book ONE ride without any issues. But on my way back, one driver NEVER confirmed and another cancelled because it was full. As I try to request another ride, the app tells me that I can't because I've already requested similar ones. So now I'm stuck in Ottawa until the next morning and there's no way of contacting any type of customer support. This application is terrible!
