I really love this app for letting me check words without leaving the browser page. Unfortunately this version doesn't work with my phone now which is on Android 10. I'm really looking for an update that will let me use this app again. Popup is essential for smooth reading experience in Japanese, so would definitely recommend.
Exactly what I needed, I read reviews saying try KAKU app instead, so wasted time installing that app and it was slow and clunky and difficult to use as reviews of that app say. Popup Japanese is exactly what it says it is. Smooth, fast, simple and easy to use and doesnt take up a ton of space or slow down or freeze (like KAKU) normal operations. Finally I can read Japanese news sites without the hassle and time of constantly switching btw apps to look up kanji. Thank you
Very convienent and has good definitions. Only thing is you need to enable it every time you turn on your phone, and it only recognizes certain verb and adjective forms *maily dictionary forn
I had no issues with it, but it stopped working after I upgraded to android 10. Would appreciate a lot if you can do a compatibility update.
This is a great app but unfortunately it doesn't work on my phone anymore because I have Android 11. I look forward to using it again. Edit: Still not working three months after my review... 😓
The app doesn't work. I selected text, and also copied text, in Japanese, but nothing happens after that
I really like it because I don't have to repeatedly exit my browser to go into a dictionary to look up a word. The only thing I'd suggest is to somehow have a history of the words you've looked up. Thanks!
Not able to use this on Xiaomi Redmi note 9, can you kindly check why is it happening? The pop up doesn't show on any app when using MiUi 11. It is based on Android 10.

The up is good but can be better, if you have problems don't forget to allow the permissions.

Can i type in the box?
The app doesn't work properly on Xiomi redmi 3. When I turn blue bottom on there are nothing at all. I mean no popup windows, only the icon on the top and its 'tap here to stop service', but it even didn't start working to stop it. :( Please fix it.
A pretty straightforward app. Copy some kanji text to the clipboard and the floating window gives you the definition. Some suggestions: fix the window disappearing bug whenever the orientation is changed, add the ability to translate more than just a single word, and show the romanization of words.
As someone who study Japanese, this is especially useful when reading web novel or Japanese articles! (and so much more.) As said by the Dev, for Xiaomi phones, you need to go to Apps > Popup Japanese Dictionary > Other Permission, and then just touch on the (Display Pop Up Window ☒) and make it ☑. It will work perfectly. Thank you!
Make translate easier. If pop up box shortcut can be close from status bar, without entering setting .So, this app will be better.
Very useful app...BUT there needs to be an option to remove the app from being in the status bar constantly. It really isn't necessary for it to be there, and status bar real estate is in too much demand already.
This app can translate directly the words copied... I wish that there is an accuracy for the copied words because they are not shown unless you copy another word.. I also wish that this would be same for other mandarin dictionaries that shows all character definition even though they are not related as long as they are copied at the same time...
This is probably the closest you can get to browser extensions like Rikai. It is simply brilliant. I love that I can use it practically everywhere, be that a browser or an ebook. Love it!
Excellent app. Very customizable, but simple as it should. One idea: adding a search history so we can review the kanji later.
It's like the Rikaikun of Android but unforunately it's a bit too basic: it popups even when you might not want it to. e.g. you're copying an English word or a phone number or URL, etc.. Also you can't edit the word being looked-up. This is a problem when copying from messaging apps like Messenger and Line which only allow copying of the entire text message so obviously it's not going to find it in the dictionary. Would be nice if it did a multi-word look-up like Takoboto and also allowed you to edit the looked-up text. If the above was fixed, I would give 5 stars.
