First time it worked fine. I was able to upload pictures to my portal from my phone. I was also able to hide pictures that I did not want to show. Now this second time I try to use the app , it won't open. I just get a circle in middle of screen going round and round. Bummer. I am so disappointed 😞 any suggestions on how to fix this problem??
Haven't been able to use the app since Nov. 2021. Try to open app and it just spins....never opens. Would have thought this would have been fixed by now. I own 4 portals. This is so frustrating.
App shutdown and will not load photos. Worked for a little while, but last 12 months keeps shutdown down on its own and can't seem to get it to upload photos.
Was wonderful to start with but now no matter what I do I cannot load new photos. Dreadful support as this has been an ongoing problem for over a year now with no sign of anyone even interested in fixing it despite multiple detrimental comments about the same issue from others.
Everything about Portal is garbage, waste of £150. Really hope somebody comes up with a way of overwriting the system with something that is compatible with Amazon and Google photos. Apologies for the one star, you can't give a zero
Trying to use the Remote function on the app, but it fails, saying 'Couldn't connect remote. Make sure that your Portal and phone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and try again'. Well both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, but it just fails. If you select 'call' from the app, a connection is made to the Portal, so that proves both devices are on the same network.
I can see others are having the same issues. I tried to add photos today and I can't access my phone pic albums, just pulls up the photos I already have uploaded into the app, and duplicates them dozens of times as I scroll down. This app has always been buggy, combined with the lack of services that can be utilized through the portal itself, like Netflix or Hulu, I feel like I wasted a ton of money on this device, and we bought the Portal+. It's back to the Amazon Show for us.
03.04.21 Since the recent update, I cannot add photos to any album, existing or new. I can create a new album but not put photos in it. I have tried so many different ways. I have had this app & 2 portals (one for my mum and one for me) for 18 months, all worked perfectly well until now. So frustrating!! UPDATE It is nearly 3 weeks since I posted a review about problems with my Portal. I have sent emails to the support address. I am so disappointed with the lack of acknowledgement or response.
I would like to access the pictures on my phone. I goto Add Photos and see All photos listed. 1) When I select an album from the drop down menu nothing happens. 2) When scrolling down the page the pictures start to multiple. Eventually filling up the screen with the same picture. What can I do? I see in the other reviews this is a know issue. What a shame, a lost opportunity.
Recent update broke the app and made it impossible to add photos. Please fix this! Update, 11-12-21 last update broke the app again. Can't load photos, no matter what folder you choose it only shows one and creates multiple copies of everything in the folder. Also, the browser seems to no longer work, it opens and immediately closes itself-same with the YouTube app. This is becoming totally frustrating!
Not sure what the latest updates did, but now it's nearly impossible to add new pictures from your phone's pic albums. You can't access them unless you manually sort through ALL of your images. Not feasible when you have hundreds or thousands of photos. That beats the purpose of the app and it's been like that for at least a couple of months now. Hence 1 star.
This app is terrible. For a billion dollar company, they really dropped the ball. Adding photos to your frame is a PAIN! They have all the photos from Facebook right there and all they need to do is include an option to add the photo to your Portal album. But nope. Only add EVERY picture from the album or none. Should make adding photos from anywhere (including Google and other popular cloud albums) easy. But even from Facebook albums it's basically impossible, unless you download to desktop.
Very buggy. When trying to add photos to an album, most of them show as black images. So it's almost impossible to choose from. Also, if you're using a Google pixel phone, you're probably out of luck. Since the app closes each time you try to add photos to an album. It's a SHAME that a company as big as Facebook produce this bad of an app
6th August 2021. Still useless. Keeps rolling round. Not showing pictures. Previous critical review seems to have been removed. Complained lots of black squares and only a few pictures to go across. Latest update today, now doesn't load at all. Very disappointed. Nearly three months on from last edit and this app still unusable. 6th November 2021. Still useless. Black blank squares. Now offering random albums which incorrect dates. So disappointed.
It used to work but hasn't since the last couple updates. Wont open, just gets stuck on the spinning circle. We got the Portal to be able stay in contact with home while the kids aren't able to go to school but now I can't call home from the app or it won't let them call me. Just on parr with the rest of the Facebook experience lately..... 11/6/20, after latest update, app still won't open. Completely worthless! What's the point of having a way to communicate with home if you can't even call! 🤬
Was hoping that this would help control Portal device from phone - answer / hangup calls. Given lack of other features for the elderly, this might have enabled us to manage the device remotely, but it sadly isn't the case. For now, we have to stick with a tablet + Skype, which provides us with better accessibility options.
App will now not open and i keep getting an error message that says app stopped working
Cant get news channels. Freezes up. Cant get half of the apps.
Not sure the app rates that high, but the experience it provides is amazing. Definitely recommend having it at several locations where you can enjoy your family and friends visiting from a far. Too bad it's very interconnected with a few mandatory organizations, but the convenience is worth it
Portal app has always been problematic, especially when trying to transfer pictures to the Portal itself (missing pictures/no thumbnails for pics etc.). As of recent (maybe most recent update?), it is unusable. Recent pictures from camera aren't showing up on the Portal app when trying to transfer pics. When you try to filter pics on your phone by category, the app does nothing. Also, the pics shown are all sorted under an unknown, incorrect date. Is this the META way?
Ok in a pinch, when you can't find the remote, but VERY annoying. Displays a network connection error WITH EVERY keystroke, which must be acknowledged before the next keystroke. At least I can answer a call, but this is a stupid issue that shows low commitment to quality- cuz I see I'm not the first one to complain.
Seems like I'm having the same issues a lot of people are having with this app. Most times it wouldn't let me add more photos to portal now its not changing albums and showing old photos and gets stuck in a loop of the same group of old photos would give less than a star if it was an option. Needs fixed for its buggy app.
Not sure if latest update or what.. But-seems pretty useless lately. When you try to open pictures to select what to show in portal 1) slow as hell, sometimes pictures do not even load. 2) doesn't show picture or does it duplicate. Starts from old pictures and while you scroll down replicates previous ones.. Loops all the time. All that Portal hardware is great this app it's hard to believe comes from same place. FIX IT! Where can we even log a ticket for this P1 defect
Jesus Christ, cant believe this is an app by Facebook, it is so clunky it fails to open seeral times, and once it does it doesnt even show me picture thumbnails even after restarting the app several times. Not to mention the fact that it doesnt even have any features other than adding pictures from facebook or the phone, very simple application and they managed to screw it up
Honestly so annoyed. I downloaded the app so that I could upload photos from my phone instead of whole albums from Facebook and I can't even log in! I keep getting the verification code texted to me/approved on the FB app, but the portal app keeps saying login error! I've uninstalled and re-insalled and restarted my phone. This is pretty ridiculous.
Update: Latest update n 2/18/21 still hasn't fixed the network error message. Update: Latest update on 2/9/21 didn't fix the issue. Original: Still broken. Used to work well. Now it keeps giving an error that I need to change my phone and Portal are on different networks when I press any button on the remote control in the app. Multiple reboot and reinstall attempts. It's been rendered completely useless.
Love the calling/video conferencing features with Portal, but.... This app on my phone entirely stopped working. The "loading" icon just spins and spins, and nothing happens. I cannot add any new pictures to my TV's digital frame. Really sucks. Looks like other people are having the same issue. Will update when this is fixed.
What the H***! My entire family has been HACKED! Very Sneaky how they are doing it now.. Going in with your accounts and staying behind secure unmoved or touched apps that are using links that they put up and you practically can't get by without excepting it. Smart Share, Nearby Share, Bluetooth, Chromecast. So many other ways.. They literally have us on a program I'm not familiar with, like a Domain. Everything with our emails and close family are on a Local State/ custom android connection.
Portal has over the last year started showing signs of failure. Small glitches have now turned into frustratingly bigger issues which want me to chuck it in the bin. Example : you turn it on, it takes a while to load up, then you find it has wiped all your favourite contacts out leaving you to re add them. Another thing, when you turn it on you hear the ping noise as if you had asked Alexa something. With that the whole portal device freezes. It cuts off wifi with no warning. Absolute rubbish
Story time is broken! The text doesn't match the pictures and the featured books won't even load! This WAS such a great way to connect with long distance grandkids- PLEASE FIX!!! (Add adding more titles would be great as well!)
