Portal - WiFi File Transfers

Getting pictures, videos, and other files from your computer onto your phone should be quick and painless. Portal helps by making it as easy as drag and drop.Portal is very easy to use. Just open the app and pull up portal.pushbullet.com on your computer and you're ready to go.Files are transferred over your WiFi connection which mean they don't count toward your mobile data limit. This also means files are transferred very quickly (even if they're over 1 GB in size).Features:
★ Transfer individual files, multiple files, or entire folders at once
★ Easily browse, open, or share the files you've put on your phone
★ Pictures transferred with Portal are automatically put into your phone's Gallery
★ Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or later: have Portal save files to your removable SD card!

Portal allows you to easily transfer files from any web browser to your phone. The app is really well made and has ease of use features such as auto organising music and pictures into appropriate folders. Pairing the browser to your phone is done via scanning a QR code and there is no log in required. Overall i am delighted with the app and don't think I'll switch to any other app for this purpose any time soon!

Installed. Copied 8 video files from PC to phone. No error messages. Great! Then..... Ah..... Hmm, It'd be super swell if I could actually find them on the phone. Like if they appeared in Gallery, under Videos, under an album named "Portal", or anywhere. Maybe the portal developers know where they are, but I don't have time for guessing games. Uninstalled.

This app is AMAZING. Amazing transfer speeds, incredibly simple, clean & straight forward interface, super smart placement of files (automagically sends music files along to my Music folder, I assume it does the same for video files & the video folder) and, best of all for me personally and what makes me absolutely psyched to have found this app - I DON'T HAVE TO DISCONNECT MY VPN TO USE IT! Every other app I've tried has thrown a fit over both my phone & my PC being connected to VPN servers.

Maybe it works for single files. I have a folder of folders of folders of files, 400 items in all, and I don't want to transfer them one at a time. Portal transferred mostly empty folders, with one small file or one empty folder in some of them. It transferred them to the Portal folder in internal storage. I couldn't set it to transfer anywhere else, because it kept cycling between "show SD card/hide file size" and "Recent/Internal storage/SD card" without responding to my touch. Useless.

The concept is great, and transferring files is easy. Problem is, once you have them on your Android device you can't really do anything. I can't save files locally. I get an error "No installed Apps can open this type of file" when clicking on it. So effectively the App is useless. Such a pity

For two weeks, I have tried numerous file transfer apps. They promised to move files, documents, music and everything under the sun. This is the only one that did what it said, was easy to use and setup and working in under five minutes. I don't throw compliments about easily, but this is the only one of at least 15+ I tried and worked easily and efficiently. Thank you. Lidia - Yorkshire, England

Very dumb app - Playskool user interface treats user like an idiot. I only wanted to send a large file from my phone to my PC. It doesn't work that way - it only works to send files from PC to phone (why would I want that?). The quest continues to find a WiFi file transfer app that's been maintained/updated in the past 5 years...

Very disappointing app. It only allows you to push files one way - from computer to phone. That's not usually what I'm trying to do. Without the ability to push from phone to computer, app is useless to me. And neither the Play Store description nor the app made it very clear that only one way push is available.

This app has always worked for me and I've been using it for over a year. It's fast and is really easy to use, especially since I send a lot of stuff from my laptop to my phone. However, I've been unable to find a lot of the files on my phone once I've transferred them via Portal. I've tried multiple times, refreshed the page, deleted and reinstalled the app but I haven't been able to find them. :( I really hope this gets fixed.

Excellent app, very easy to use, but only transfers files in one direction, from computer to Android phone. Also it's a little tricky moving files from the Portal folder to other folders on Android. When it can transfer in both directions, and has internal file moving capability, it will get 10 stars!!!

Best simple app. The transfer is pretty fast from PC to Phone and vice-versa. The only con that I noticed is the recieved files directly goes to our phone internal storage and I cannot find any provision to switch to SD card or external storage. I hope the developer will fix it with a new update untill that time this app is not worthy for me. !

I've just changed phone from Samsung to Oneplus. Samsung had the Sidesync app which was useful in file transfer and finding out that Oneplus didn't have a similar app, I looked at what alternatives there are. I tried airdroid which I used to use but it didn't work as intended, then I came across Portal. I've been using the Pushbullet app for a few years now and so I thought I'd give Portal a go - and I was very impressed with the outcome. Very fast file transfer over Wi-Fi. Highly recommended!

Woah, they're not joking when this is really simple, it's the simplest way to transfer files from my laptop to my phone! Apparently you still need internet connection to access their website, and you can't transfer files from your phone to your computer or laptop.. So if you're often transfer files to your own phone, I really recommend this!

I hoped this would work as an USB transfer and yeah it WORKED the first time, now isn't working, everything is fine; same network, no VPN used... And isn't working no more. The other issue I have is I use forced dark mode on my desktop (Chrome) and the QR image is completely dark so I have to uncheck the dark mode and restart Chrome to actually make a connection... Story short: it is quicker to use my regular USB cord rather than this app

The app is good to transfer files from PC to phone using internet (to open the website). It would be really better if it works without internet and we can generate the QR offline with the app between two android devices. A huge recommendation to developers to design it a little bit more to transfer files between two android phones within the app.

It does not send your files on your android phone's micro SD card to your PC. It sends only from your PC to your phone messages etc and nothing more. For serious matter there is no use of this app. Free is a way to entice for its Pro version - if that is able to do such transfer.

Finally my quest completed! You would not believe how badly I was in needed such kind of app. The app is does what it's day and I like that it's free without any advertisement. Thank you so much Pushbullet team Note: Seriously guys not complaining, just letting you know that the max file transfer quantity is set to 100 at one go but you may add 100 files again simultaneously.

Along with this app's companion Pushbullet, I have used Portal so many times that now i take it for granted. I move a lot of media between my computers and my phone, and especially between my macbook and my android it is much easier to use Portal and a good android file manager than it is to physically plug my droid into my mac. For my purposes at least, this app does exactly what i hoped it would.

Geo. G. Sep 20, 2019

Absolutely useless! I connect my phone to my macbook through Portal, drag the files over, watch the transfer process, and when that's done, I've got nothing. Portal on my phone says I have no files and they are correct. I don't know where the files transferred to, but it sure wasn't my phone. Like a dummy, I tried it twice. Same result. I'm beginning to think Portal is a scam to steal your videos.

Used the app for a while and was working great. But when I got a new phone (Samsung A32). The app just stopped working. I can transfer files from my pc to my phone. But the files can't be found on my A32? 🤔

Cre. L. Jun 22, 2020

I don't understand the point of this app. All I ever wanted is for Pushbullet to allow me to pull files from my PC to my phone, when I'm away from home. I figured I could live with using a separate app to do it, but the app requires me to be in front of the PC. So that's useless, I could just use USB. It doesn't even offer the most basic option of letting me specify where to save the files. And why do I have to jump through the hoop of scanning a QR code every time? So clunky.

Dav. W. Aug 26, 2021

It could be good and it seems to work but the complete lack of controls stopped me using it. (you cant tell the app where to put the files). I also am concerned if the users privacy is protected, it seems from the privacy policy it is not!

The app is good but I'm unable to see video files in my gallery app. I have to go into a file explorer and move them if I want to upload or edit the video on my phone. Hopefully this will be a quick fix.

It's nice, fast and extremely easy to use, it's way faster than USB 3.1, you transfer files through internet. I used it at home on my LAN, my phone was connected via wifi and my PC had a wired connection.
