The negative reviews are really odd. There are limited to no ads on a great game. Rarely can you watch ads for a few free gems which is useful. The game is simple but doesn't spoon feed you instructions. For example someone is complaining that they can't recover hp after fights so 1 star! You just have to go eat which also helps you level up. There are a lot of little nuances that make this game amazing. I completed it as far as I can tell and that's a bummer that there isn't more to unlock.
Rather impressed. Fair/minimal ads. Surprising amount of depth. Knows how to keep you hooked. Great time-killer to play in small chunks. Few progression, features, minor time-gating are softwalled behind mtx coins (watching ads alone takes impossibly long) but most are fair and worth. Sadly no options between $6-41. Stylistically I love the wordless tutorials but some don't explain certain mechanics well enough. But part of the fun is figuring it out yourself what they're trying to tell you.
The graphics are beautiful, despite being heavily pixelated (which is intentional), the animations of the characters are expressive and realistic. My only problem is that on the blue boss that looks like a hippo, I keep beating it and then the game freezes. I close the game, open it up again and I still have all the money I earned but I have to do the same level again. It's done that 3 times so far and I would like this bug fixed please. (Edit: Got past it, don't know why though)
Fantastic game! Charming pixel art, cool music, solid sound design with great response of the character hits. Great mechanics, simple to learn and hard and long to master. The ads don't get in the way, but I wish there was an purchase to take them off. I don't know if purchasing any of the gems would remove the ads. I'm in love with the game. We'd have more mobile games like this one. Just minus 1 star because of the ads and waiting/energy system between rounds.
One of the best mobile games I've played in a long, long time or maybe ever. Great graphic and sound design; gameplay that's just the right balance between repetitive and varied, and between skill-based and idle/mindless; easy to play for only a few minutes or to grind for a while; and really really unintrusive ads and microtransactions. This game is a bullseye, a model to follow.
Total five-star game, save for the ads. Stylish, fun, and perfectly paced to kill a few minutes at a time. Definitely digging the River City Rampage vibe. Ads are a problem. The game slows down slightly when loading them in the background, a serious issue in a game this timing-based. I would pay for an ad-free version happily if it ran smoother.
The game is an incredible amount of fun immediately from the start. It's easy to understand and you fall into an emersive style of play within seconds. The only critique I have is there are no tutorials for the different buildings you unlock, or that you even have to unlock them to begin with. I did mention it was easy to understand, meaning the concept. You fight, get gold, use gold to upgrade your character. It could completely be resolved by having ? you could click on and get info.
I had to come back to the review after beating the game. This game is just awesome! There are so many tiny details that are left for you to figure out, and once you do, it's oh so satisfying! Once you unlock combos, it's even more fun! Enemies have types, and take more damage from different combos depending on their types. Juggling enemies in the air means more gold. Final boss wasn't as bad as people make it out to be - can be beat 1st time if you got skills i.e. perfect parry timing. 👌
Pretty great new take on classic action game. Decent controls. Can be randomly laggy, which breaks the enjoyment. And after the first 4 stages, the game becomes a total grind. Once you unlock the final fighting style, there's no significant change in story, play, or features. Considering this happens about halfway thru the game, the second half is tedious and uninteresting.
The animations are great. Love the moving pixels and all the sprites used. The gameplay is pretty solid, even with having to wait for gas to refill and gain coins, the time that it takes to actually run out of health (while gaining coins at the same time) and return back to the main hub area, takes a good amount of time. If you know what you're doing that is, you know, guarding and all. Quality game.👌 For the developers, the game freezes when you try to enter the Gem...place, the second time.
This game is absolutely phenomenal. Excellent pixel art; fantastic combat; great progression. I would give it 5 stars in a heartbeat. However: there seems to be NO WAY to earn "gems" (the in-game currency) other than paying ridiculous amounts of money. I would gladly pay to remove ads. But since I'll be unable to progress without spending more money on "gems", it's a NO NO. Pity.
Game is very fun and simplistic in a lovely way. Only issue I've had is, because everything is explained visually, at moments I was left confused and not knowing what to do, and the only thing I could do about it was stumble around brainlessly. Gameplay is great, controls are easy to learn and use (though a bit laggy), graphics are lovely, but the interface and progression are not too user-friendly.
Easy to play, but gets grindy fast. It was fun at first, but pretty soon it just became mash the same 2 combos that were best against the enemies. Upgrades became more and more expensive and you'll find yourself repeating stages over and over to grins money. You get a few bonus coins from restoring parts of the city or timing certain moves, but it's like eating crumbs when you're hungry. Also, when you die, you're forced to watch an ad, so that's fun.
Awesome game but there's a glitch which makes it impossible for me to enter the diamond shop place. I press on the door and the character appears to step in front of it yet the game freezes for a few moments and all the buildings are destroyed again. It goes on for a few more seconds or a few more of me tapping the door until the inside pops up for a few frames than instantly goes back outside.
the games art direction is quite creative, the game progresses quite easily and fast during the early parts, but around the time when you hit the next half of the city, it feels like a massive and slow grind. you're trying to defeat the boss of that level but you don't have enough damage so you need to get more money to buy upgrades, but every runthrough of your latest level only gives 2k max, even though one upgrade already costs more than 10k. It just becomes a bore and not fun anymore.
Very fun game, controls are minimalist but also fun to use. I think it's a great system, to where you can block to minimalize damage, but also take zero damage if you time it perfectly. And the fact that you can earn the in app purchase items to buy with coins if you upgrade enough. My only problem with the game is how much grind is needed, and how little fuel you have to do it. Overall great game.
Very fun game. I really enjoy the old-school-graphics aesthetic. The 2-button UI allows for great strategizing towards each enemy. This is an aspect I also enjoy. The minigames are also fun and full of old-school video game references. Overall, a most enjoyable experience for those who like old-school beat-em-ups, and retro-style graphics.
Pretty cool game. Not super complex but fun. Totally free game but I enjoyed it so much I spent ~$2 just to support the developer. Cons: Capping the available ads to get diamonds and low reward amount. You only get 5diamonds/video and most premium items cost over 100. Most of the unobtrusive mini tutorial videos are helpful but a lot stuff you end up having to figure out on your own which can be frustrating. Still, both complaints are pretty minor.
Perfect mobile game but needs improvements, the grind quickly becomes boring as you continue to fight very easy enemies for longer and longer periods of time. I appreciate being able to feel stronger as you progress, but the enemies need to get stronger and change too so it's not too boring. Eventually you need to fight 10 enemies per level before the challenge begins.
Not sure how I missed this game for so long, but better late than never. Very reminiscent of River City Ransom for the NES, but it isn't a free wheeling beat down like RCR, instead having more linear but more in depth/customizable game play. The items you buy have no descriptions, which might be offputting at first, but that won't ultimately matter. The game itself isn't as difficult as it might seem, and basically unlimited energy via watching ads is a big plus. Check it out.
This game is amazing. The style is so unique and classic. The sound design is so well done. The game has so much effort put into it and you can really tell that through the gameplay. The faces are so funny. The character designs are fantastic. I love the progression system its very unique and addicting. Rebuilding the city feels rewarding because you can achieve so many new techniques and systems to get rewards. The way the settings tab is integrated is charming. This game is so amazing.
Let's just get this straight. This game is amazing. You'll even WANT to leave your internet on to support the game with ads. The design is unique, and amazingly pulled off. Animation is sleek, payments are not required for progression, the whole thing. So many fighting techniques to learn and use as you rebuild the city.
It's a great game. It starts simple and has very basic controls. I love how daily rewards don't just stop after a week. The only reason I can't give it five stars is because after playing a month, all my saved skins and data got deleted. I know it should have been there because I save after every session. Idk if it's a bug or if there's a monthly reset, but it's still a great game. Definitely recommended.
A fun, retro, street fighter style game with simple but enjoyable mechanics. The diamonds are quite hard to get and a lot of the content is based on diamonds but other than that it's great. I've noticed that there aren't any actual words in the game which makes it hard to learn at the beginning but that's easily resolved.
Absolutely splendid game. It's exactly what I look for -- god tier gameplay that is easy to learn and hard to master. The gameplay feels good, and doesn't get too boring, at least in my experience. Things that could be improved upon are blue gem acquisition (currently only available through ads or in app purchases, locking some content behind a paywall), and counters (feel inconsistent. some sort of tell for when exactly to press the blue/orange button would be nice). 9/10.
Odd but good. Looks fantastic, and the interface is brilliant - lack of instructions makes you explore the interface, which is a lot of fun. Simple and fun to play, but ultimately becomes a massive grind - to beat the game you need lots of coins and materials, and these can't be bought with real money.
