I like the app in that the files are small and can be downloaded with intermittent cell signal as we are traveling along the Southeast US coast. The usage is not always intuitive so I practice everyday so I do not forget how to look at different areas and adjust parameters. However, this is a valuable tool and I highly recommend it.
Generally a useful app to have when sailing outside of mobile internet coverage. A shame that we don't get the the high resolution that we get with our normal basic online subscription. I guess it doesn't fit with the business model.
Good in general, needs a restructuring in order to make things flow a litter easier, some crashes on the PC version
We used this app to guide our recent Atlantic crossing. The updates were extremely valuable in helping us avoid bad weather as much as one can do that on the open ocean.
Comprehensive, but with a poor user interface. If one wants to know wind speed, direction, gusts and pressure at one spot, the screen layout is 5% menu, 5% useful information, and 90% distracting animation of wind moving across screen. This makes the weather information that I want from the app difficult to read.
App is packed with a lot of usefull things. Too bad they don t work for me. Most of the prediction files do not download, saying that my user and password are incorrect. The ones that get downloaded are not displayed on the map. The map zooms out to world view everytime i go to some menu. Used help. Doesn t seem i do sonething wrong or got the settings wrong. But problems still persist
The app is easy to use and contains a wealth of information. The accuracy of the forecasts have been steadily improving as well.
Clunky user interface. Sonetimes you hit phone back button, sometimes the app screen has a back button, sometimes the app has a done button to return to chart view. Chart detail poor for waterways, difficult to find you destination unless you use a separate chart plotter to get coordinates first then manually enter it. Very inconvenient.
Have not been able to use it enough to figure out all the functions, planning on trying it out before I go sailing. Need to learn how to download and use the satelite pictures as well.
Unable to display content on my Samsung Chrome book. After trouble shooting across the internet, no solution found. No word back from the developers either about this problem.
Works great at downloading GRIBs. Simple and quick. New update requires over 400MB though so too big for me to load.
All the predict wind apps have gone downhill. They need a better app developer. I've been using their products for 5+ years and there are becoming too many glitches and bugs. It's frustrating.
Hard to use, not intuitive
The Off Shore App is a fantastic tool for those that want an easy to use weather app for planning and managing ocean passages. The ability to compare four different models allows you to be confident as possible in your weather based decisions.
Took a bit of time to figure out the app but in the end quite worth it. Been using the inshore app for a long time. Always figured that the off shore was beyond my needs but now use it to make my own predictions.
Totally difficult and impossible to communicate with. Fine on WiFi... But satellite is totally unsupported..... New Zealand time. Great.
Easy to use app. I find the free version sufficient for most situations. I may upgrade in the futur when planning an offshore trip.
One of the least reliable apps on my tablet. And the most expensive when I consider how much I've paid for the service over the years.
Can't download GRIB Forecasts..app states GRIB Forecast is more than 62 days old. it constantly stalls.. app doesn't automatically update when you run it. It's useless
Exploring... Not very ergonomic and clear, but it could be effective with some experience...
Displays good grib files but every time I download an error message pops up advising that the area selected is too large.
Previous version worked well and quite accurate. Latest version won't work at all.
Great app for offshore sailors. Use weather routing for all our offshore passages. Easy to use and high accuracy of forecasts.
used with my IridiumGo offshore for weather windows and routing for passage from Beaufort NC to BVIs. Great ride...9 days in our Lord Nelson 41. I use the pro version.. very pleased.
This is a terrible app. Amateur interface and crashes all the time on my Samsung.
A bit clunky and not as smooth as the normal predictwind app.
Most frustrating App and you need to pay for that frustration! Continually have to close and reopen as it stops working. Pinch and zoom is difficult. How about arrow keys instead to resize? They should make it so it defaults to last downloaded Grib size. Can not use any other App why download is in progress.
