Premier Sports Player

I've never had so many problems and it doesn't matter what tech I'm using, whether my tablet, phone or laptop the screen just turns black. By the time I get it to work again or log in to another piece of tech I've missed a goal or more. So frustrating and I know it's not my WiFi as everything else works fine. If this is not fixed I'm not renewing my subscription as it's just not worth it.

Keeps Crashing. When casting to a Chromecast, every time it goes to a commercial break it takes you to a screen saying commercial break in progress but then you get stuck on that screen and the only way to get back to the TV show is to log out and back in. Emailed support but got no response. They also take payment on the wrong date.

The only place I can watch all the URC rugby, well worth the subscription, bravo Premier Player, finally a way to get all the games which terrestrial TV feels it cant share due to regional locations, despite the publics preferences. Service you offer is straight forward, easy to navigate and flawless, high quality streaming.

As a way to watch stuff on your phone it meets the basic requirements. However, as I signed up on the basis you could cast to a TV using the app all I can say is it's not fit for purpose. All you can do is start a stream. Want to skip the intro and any period breaks? Forget it. You've got to sit through every inane remark from the commentators to fill the time. Miss some action? Forget being able to rewind a few seconds. Once you've started you can pause and that's about it. Want to stop watching and come back later on? Again, forget it, you've got to sit through what you've already watched. Accidentally reopen the app while browsing your phone during a break? It restarts from the beginnning... Apparently the iOS version has all these features so why is Android so far behind when it's an easier platform to develop for and far more popular in the UK? I actually feel scammed in to signing up as with these limitations which aren't mentioned when you sign up it's actually of no use to me and I've barely touched it since signing up.

Update on 10/03 fixed Chromecast issue. Now we can stream Premier Sports on tv again. Please do not change anything else, or simply add features than work next time. Still far away from BT Sport app for overall quality, but at least basic functionalities work. When you subscribe for the first time, you don't receive an automatic email for confirmation; in fact, no email at all has been received so far. This makes it look a bit "suspicious" to a new customer.

It worked ok for the first year. I lost track of updates so I don't if it has to do with that but in the past few months it has appalling. Every time I watch a match I get a "back soon" message and sometimes there is no match for 10/15 minutes. On top of this the issues with the app itself that either crashes or freezes annoyingly often. Needs urgent fixing.

I have been very critical of this app before, but credit where credit's due; it has significantly improved of late. Chromecast finally works, I've been able to watch Serie A on my TV in high definition without any problems at all. I've knocked a mark off because you cannot rewind or fast forward from the app. However this is not a major problem as you can do it from the Chromecast app. It would also be nice if matches appeared a bit quicker on the on-demand service. Overall good.

So many issues with Premier Sports, and this app, so let's start with a simple one that - if sorted out - would immediately improve the app and my rating of it. Why, when watching on demand, is there a 'rewind 10 seconds' button but no corresponding button to fast forward? Seriously, how many people need the ability to easily rewind instead of fast forward (such as for adverts)? Can you not sort this out? I can't think of a single other app that lacks this function.

Unreliable casting. Unreliable streaming. When a match isn't shown because of the UK's Saturday afternoon match law, it's not available on demand until the next day. On the plus side, when streaming works the quality is good. Edit: I will try the above solution, but fact remains that even when just trying to play a channel on the phone it will still give an error once every so often. About the package; I'm a customer through Sky, I wasn't even aware of the various packages, but good to know.

Good app overall. I gave them 2 stars a few months ago, but the developer sorted most of the issues I highlighted. This is why I have changed my mind and give them 3 stars. The overall quality of the content is good (video, audio, commentators, etc). The price is fair. The app and website are a bit too basic for my taste. But, it does the job well . Easy to sign in and easy to cancel. It would be very nice to have a native app for android TV as the current mobile app when installed in android TV gets disconnected every now and again.

It's the lag when I cast to my 4k fire stick. On my tablet it works perfectly fine but it's when I cast. The sound is laggy too. *EDIT* since they have tried to sort it out, the picture and sound is no different. Still lags, buffs, out if sync. Sent them another email saying nothing much has changed and I still have not got a reply. Not happy at all. 1 star for now, until this gets sorted out.

The app is handy for the Chromecast ability but the implementation needs work. After casting starts you can't change the screen you are on. Also when you disconnect and reconnect or connect halfway through a VOD the stream starts at the beginning and there is no way to skip to the point you were at. If these items were fixed it works be a great app. Thanks

Two major problems. 1. Ridiculous number of commercials considering it's a paid subscription. Desperately needs a 30/60 sec skip button. 2. On-Demand lag is horrendous and almost unwatchable. If you skip forward at all, you'll spend the next minute buffering with constant start/stop lag. I'll give it one more month then cancel if it doesn't improve.

Latest updates seem to have solve the issue of jittering chromecast streaming. App is still sometimes temperamental (every now and then it loses the connection), but much better now. *** EDIT: After latest updates, connections seems more stable. It'd be very useful to have the option to fast forward or rewind stream sent to chromecast when watching videos on demand - atm you can only watch them from the beginning.

Its like the app was designed and maintained by a team of disinterested teenagers on work experience. I rely on the on-demand for pro14 matches. It can take hours for games to be available after the final whistle and casting is problematic. It won't cast directly to a Samsung tv. It will sometimes cast to a fire stick, but you have to fast forward in 10 second intervals via button click. If you resume playback after interruption, youre back to the start. Customer service woeful.

Another unwatchable Montreal game!! Picture constantly breaking up to the point that there was a "back soon" message. Constant buffering/lagging as usual. AND they have the audacity to expect me to pay for this. NHL app is far better but the game is blacked out because you guys have it. 2 games since I subscribed - both unwatchable. WILL NOT be renewing when the time comes!

After the recent update the picture quality has improved although still quite a way short from apps such as BT Sport. It disconnects from Chromecast much less so the Premier Sports Player app is now much more user friendly. Fix the picture issues fully and this will be a decent app. Thanks for your follow up. After a few more days the old problems have re-surfaced. The App keeps disconnecting from Chromecast and the picture quality is pants. Compared to BT Sport and NOW TV this App is terrible.

I have too many faults to list here, most major is the consistent buffering of the tv player in full screen mode. Having to watch the player in small screen mode is very distracting, with all the stuff displayed around the small screen, that is better though than the alternative, the full screen mode which constantly buffers. The sign in / sign in is a right pain too, when I've watched on my phone and signed out from it, I can't sign in on my laptop without a forced sign out from that device and then signing in again far too cumbersome, the whole thing seem almost second rate and thrown together for a paid for service

It's a great app with a lot of content on it. I use it a lot especially at weekends or the odd midweek Italian game, however when casting it can get quite glitchy which it never used to. Really annoying so please update with a fix for this bug. It's a 2nd generation one I think. It's fine on catch up stuff, just goes jumpy on live stuff sometimes. It's also now playing up in our LG TV, la Liga TV plays fine but I can't get premier sports 1 to cast which is carrying the Napoli game. I give up.

I got this for pro14 only. i have never been able to watch a single match without issue. coverage regularly stops, never been able to successfully cast in app and no control in video. last match couldn't even watch it full screen. I am so disappointed last until this year I have been able to enjoy rugby with a far superior provider in BBC without having to spend extra money. now I am forced to pay for a service that is rubbish. so dissapointed.

Update: changed review from 2 stars to 1 because the audio is out of sync by 3 or 4 seconds.Original review: Lazy and poorly designed app. No casting controls at all. Can't search the schedule, only past on-demand recordings which often miss the very start or end of the event/game. Would be great to search the schedule and not just scroll through day by day, channel by channel. It would be great to set reminders or alerts. It's got little more functionality than watching live on an old TV though

Used to be a really good app with no issues casting through Chromecast (although video was slightly choppy at times). However, for the last few weeks it has become completely unusable as it stops casting after 10 minutes or so, and you can't resume unless you close all the apps and disconnect from the WIFI and reconnect. As such it's rendered the app pretty useless as not many people will be wanting to watch every match on their phone.

I have been using this app for last month or so, not really had much issues with the player to be honest, the only times i had issues was last Saturday when the player kept stopping constantly. Went to the browser Premier Sports player and it played perfect through Chrome. I like the fact they niw have the rights to the Serie A. The player isn't as good as BT Sports app, but Premier Player far better than Sky Go.

The app and service was always pretty sketchy, casting to my TV was pretty poor and the quality of the streams very inconsistent, on more than occasion dropping off mid-match, sound issues etc etc. Then at the end of the year PS cancelled my subscription without warning. On emailing them to investigate they stated I had to sign up again as a new customer at a higher price and no explanation of the problem with the renewal or why I was not contacted before cancellation. Decided not to renew.

Updated (previous 2 stars, upgraded to 4). Guess this has been updated / fixed. Previously lagged and buffered almost all the time. Yesterday, for the first time, I watched a whole match with absolutely no buffering nor loss of picture quality. Whilst that's the minimum I'd expect, it's a definite improvement. Keep it up!

The app works well at first. However from my experience it is glitchy sometimes being unable to open any streams. Also content that has recently been made available on demand has a technical error message shown instead of the actual content opening. EDIT: I have to rate this one star now as it has been several hours since then and both versions of event are showing a technical error as opposed to the other content. This is specifically live boxing that is showing this, not La Liga etc.

Everything has been said already. This has to be the worst streaming app around. I don't remember when was last time I was able to watch a game without any tinkering and restarting involved. La-Liga channel stops working in the middle of match and then gets back on hour later after the match is over. And this is regular occurrence. I miss La-Liga on Elevensports, I hope they get it for next season so we don't have to us this app ever again.

Have used it for at least a year and apart from the hassle of signing in, which means that if you come off the site and go back in on the same machine you have to sign out and then sign in again.A lot of hassle it you only momentarily want to look at something else. This last two days though it has been awful I watched two matches the first was constantly pausing and buffering. The last one today, was the el classico and the picture was awful the best definition was 540p it was like looking through a fog on a large tv. Checked my broadband connection (fibre and using a wired ethernet connection), there was nothing wrong

Have paid for a one year subscription on a promo code for £49, to watch the ice hockey, but desperately needs fast forwarding to the casting. I haven't got time to watch full games if I have to sit through all the build up and period breaks too. Okay at the reduced rate but I don't think I'd pay full rate unless they update to include fast forward.

This truly is the worst app I've ever had the misfortune of paying to use. The old app was a bit flaky, but worked OK most of the time. This one rarely works on any of my tablets or phone. Can't log in, crashes, won't Chromecast, or if it does there's no sound. I will be cancelling my subscription.
