The game is definitely a JRPG, but it's really not bad. We get the cooking mechanic without worrying about the restaurant and time management part of the business Characters level up by eating and you get resources by exploring different dungeons. This is turn based combat btw, not usually my thing, but it can be fun. Sometimes the game feels like its all grinding but that's ok, gives you time and resources to experiment. And they have a clever way of getting reviews.

Played a few hours, can say that it's not worth full price. Even has an ad on the starting screen when it's almost 8 bucks. Gameplay is slow and grindy, while the cooking system and the tavern system is unsatisfying. Has a lot of potential but it just doesn't feel finished.

This game is a lot of fun if you like atelier games and the like. The principle is basically the same, just with cooking - you want to make different dishes to make your tavern prosper and you therefore need to hunt monsters for more ingredients. It can get a bit long at times and the party system is not very intuitive to me. But other than that, it is very nice and addictive! I have been playing it again non-stop since they fixed the loading screen bug and am totally addicted to it. It has become my favourite mobile game as of now!

For some people, smelly feet aren't a bad thing. In a serious note, it's like an improved version of their older game Adventure Bar Story, which I played quite a bit of. The core gameplay is just as good as ABS(and moreso), and the translation is... Fine. Compared to some other things I've seen recently where it was obviously done by low-quality machine translation, this game has proper, grammatically correct translation, if slightly stilted.

Very fun. It's a damm good casual-ish RPG where you don't need to grind too much to progress. Not perfect, though. There's not much features, like there's no equipment crafting system, which is a major letdown. There is no skill tree-ish system either, you just learn skills from fighting. This one is a minor negative point for me, but it could be bad for you. No taming/monster capture, I'm a bit disappointed by it. Anyways, this game is definitely fun for me. But only as a casual RPG game.

I rarely buy games, but this one I had to get. I am a fan of both group's past games and although grindy, it is to be expected: No person can magically get everything, not even in a world of magic. The loading times between battles and moving can be a bit too long at times, and animations may stutter but those are hardware limitations. Just wish that future titles like these get more variety like combining skills in battle or specific cooking techniques and not just requiring equipment.

All was going fine until a "NEWS" button that only showed ADS showed up at the bottom. I bought the game. Why are there ads on the bottom?? There were no ads on the previous days. Why are there ads suddenly now? Please remove the ads if the game was purchased! Edit: May have been just a bug or they fixed it. It isnt showing during gameplay anymore.

Well-made, fun cooking & adventure game! Cute story elements as well. FYI, there aren't very many resources out there if you need tips, since it's new. But there is a recipe list, which really helps you avoid wasting ingredients. When deciding what to make for your menu, I recommend filtering by price so you can see which recipes will make the most profit, then getting those ingredients. (Black pepper is expensive but worth it. Mixed Salt goes into many lucrative recipes.) Good luck!

Some UI improvements can be made. It is difficult to find ingredients on the menu when there are tons of them. Same goes for the recipes. I hope I can assign auto-battle skills, not just random execution. A list of dish combos once discovered already would be nice. Some bugs like stealing Trout Sashimi from Undine does not add to the inventory. Also a lot of NPCs are useless, would be good if they can add quests to discover recipes. Some recipes are really difficult to figure out even with hints

Fun but grindy (though that's part of the fun too). I played Adventure Bar Story and liked it enough to buy this. It's pretty similar, and your characters battle enemies in traditional turn based battle which in turn drop items for cooking. As you can only visit one dungeon per ingame day, and there are some useful drops by rare monsters, you might spend a lot of real time just grinding for ingredients. I like it but others might find it too tedious.

There is a bug when collapsing the buttons for save, healing, etc. The icons will go away when I collapse them, like they are supposed to, but if I tap in the space it will open the menu as if the buttons are still visible. The rest of the game plays fine, it's just a little annoying.

I love this game but since I changed my cellphone to a pixel 3a the game is skippy while walking around... Makes it really uncomfortable to look at... Feels like it's running at 10 fps... When I'm standing it goes back to full frames per second... Everything around moves normally with smooth frame rate. But as soon as I start walking again the frames drop horribly.

A. G. u. Oct 16, 2019

Gameplay and Idea of the game is great, but the frames are seriously low, and it's not the just low, it's really unpleasant to the eye, it's only smooth when on battle. My phone can play 5x heavier games than this so this is a real let down for me as I like games like this. Also, random encounters are too much as well, greatly lowering the chance of encounter would be better and make it more of approaching enemies instead. I played Adventure Bar Story and for me it was better as its smoother.

It's a fun game. It has a bit of everything a good story, creativity, adventure, business management, and good artwork. My only thing to be improve on would be to add more recipes and make it easier to create unique recipes of your own. Trying to guess recipe ingredients is hard because it's not what you'd expect all the time. Overall fun game.

OMG! IS THIS A COLLAB BETWEEN RIDEON AND KEMCO...?! GODS! THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME EXPERIENCE THIS! Anyway, if you liked Adventure Bar Story, then you're sure to like this one as well! Aside from the storyline, the characters, and some new tools and recipes, the basic plot, the villain's looks and name, basic gameplay, and controls are all the same as Adventure Bar Story. The only complaints I have are the small gamepad, lack of BL, and the lack of differences between this and Adventure Bar Story. I mean, I adore ABS, but like, if you're just gonna do this, just call it ABS2. Oh well, I actually just started playing recently, so I can't really give an in-depth analysis, but I sorta got the gist of it. Love the game.

A. G. u. Feb 17, 2020

This feels like an asset flip of Adventure Bar Story despite being done by the same group. The translation can be confusing, the contrast between the avatars vs. the environment unsettling, especially when you look at the idle animations for squids. But on the upside, the microtransaction currency is given to you via battles in a trickle and you are given a lump sum at the start. The controls take a little getting used to as well, but the pad helps for when you don't want to walk.

This is an interesting gem! Much different in them from your standard save the world theme. The story is actually pretty charming to me and the character cast is unique in their stories and add to the theme of creating and cooking. It can get a little repetitive, but i would be lying if I didn't say running that tavern and getting supplies was not addicting and fun, while fighting bosses and exploring new places. WELL worth playing!

The gameplay is pretty good; I spent almost thirty hours this week playing the game. It's also very easy to get attached to the main character and sympathize with her plight because of the character dynamics. One minor issue was that the game doesn't have a pop-up screen that tells you if you've used the monster repellent or attractor. When I played with the sound off, I ended up accidently using five monster attractors at once.

Going to have to give this a 1 star rating until I can actually play the game. Bought this game just before the glitch where the loading screen stays at 2/100. Tried reinstalling and nothing works, emailed the devs and they're not really getting back to me, so we'll see if this even happens. Edit: game runs fine and I love it!

Mah. M. Feb 9, 2022

Such a nice fun game! I very much like the gameplay, it's easy and casual enough that it didn't become grindy. You can grind if you want or buy it all. In app purchase isn't pushy or punishing but helpful! I do prefer a premium game like this <3 There's so many food and ingredients, I hope it can be more fleshed out in a sequel or something. Like different food sprites, desc. Etc.

A. G. u. Dec 19, 2018

I love it. My only issue is while the character cast has diversity/ are individuals in story, their roles combat-wise have a lot of overlaps between the cast, only made somewhat distinct by their passives. Still, an absolutely lovely game if you enjoy shop management/RPGs. The combat is pretty intuitive, just be aware that elemental resistances will kick your booty if you don't heed them.

Nik. S. Apr 25, 2022

It's ok but the menus are unnecessarily clunky and complicated. If this could be polished into something smoother and more intuitive, I'd be obsessed. But as is, it's not worth $8 for me compared to other games.

A. G. u. Dec 19, 2018

A great sequel to Adventure Bar Story! Some of the mechanics are slightly different but overall it is much more streamlined in the cooking portions of the game. More recipes are more complex than those in Adventure Bar, and I've caught myself getting hungry just reading though the list. Unfortunately, the RPG portions aren't quite as balanced as its predecessor, but Tavern Story makes it up by having better dungeon designs. I highly recommend this game to foodies and budding chefs alike!

Great game! I know it's available on PS4 and other consoles, but having it on my phone is much better. When I need a break at work, I just open my game up. I almost never buy games for my phone, but I'm glad I purchased Marenian Tavern. It's only a few dollars, but you're definitely going to be playing enough hours to get your money's worth--because the game is fun and addicting! I can't wait to make my next dish lol. Bonus: no ads, no need for internet connection once you've started the game!

adr. c. Jul 19, 2020

Previously, I complained on how bad loading time is. After changing phone, it kinda improved. But loading still look 3 seconds long. And there's plenty of loading screen in this game. Its probably much better to just play on PC version with SSD. Also, whoever thought about the recipes is an insane person. That's WAY too much recipe

A. G. u. Oct 9, 2018

Um so I noticed this problem has happened for many people, and recently has happened to me too. The loading screen is at 2/100 and I spent a lot of time that redoing it would be pointless... I hope you can fix this soon, and thank you for your time

Ira. F. Apr 2, 2022

I really like this game so far! I decided it was worth the $7 to at least check it out after I read the reviews, and I'm not sorry I did so far! I'll admit that I'm not far into the game yet-- I've only been playing it for a few days-- but it's fun for a JRPG/ "run a shop" game. I think the visual designs for the monsters in the game are a bit uninspired-- I feel like I've seen them in lots of games-- BUT, that's probably my only nitpick for an otherwise fun game! Definitely worth $7!!!

Interesting story & love control scheme, tap control different from any other game it isn't cheap, they can automatically find route by itself & didn't collide to wall, similar to Vainglory, also their graphics style mix between pixel art & 3d environment it's great, but here's thing i don't like : they're don't put objective in main screen, so sometimes i feel like lost don't know what to do

A. G. u. Dec 8, 2018

EDIT: Devs fixed the loading issue. Good game, worth the price. If you like food-based games and JRPG this is it. Coco the mascot is darn adorable. Overall gameplay reminds me of Atelier, and Rune Factory. Touchpad movement gets stuck occasionally, but it can get fixed by switching to joystick mechanics and back again if touchpad is preferred. PS: King Crabs keep landing "Decapitate" that I just facepalm every time I have to revive 😂 DROP THAT INGREDIENT ALREADY OH DEAR MOB 😂 stalling for ingredients ahahahaha...

A fine game but need some improvement. This game is a good game overall. The FPS is unstable for my phone that can run a full 3D game perfectly. I got 20 FPS avg. while when i run other game i can run more stable at 24 FPS. Also needs gamepad support.
