PressureNet

PressureNet boasts a community of fellow citizen scientists helping to create the most accurate real-time, hyperlocal weather forecast.
PressureNet uses barometric sensors built into select Android devices (see if yours is listed below) to automatically detect changes in atmospheric pressure, predicting hyperlocal weather activity before it occurs. We incorporate your sensor data into our own weather models, which produce local temperature forecasts for you, our users.

Not only does your automatic sensor data make your weather forecast more accurate, but we also incorporate user-reported weather conditions to train and correct our models. Our forecast accuracy improves as more users join!

Note: Temperature forecasts are for North America only right now. We will be adding more locations as users request them. Send us an email to let us know you're interested! [email protected].

Features:

- NEW: Crowdsourced sensor data reflects real-time hyperlocal weather forecast for the next few hours.

- Report real-time weather changes in your area to other PressureNet users.

- Pressure drop/rise alerts: notifies you when your pressure starts to fall -
- indicating oncoming clouds, rain, and good weather ahead!

- Home screen widget allows for user submitted weather updates and displays real-time barometer readings and hourly/on-demand pressure changes.

PressureNet works with the current list of Android devices:

Galaxy S3, S4, S5, S6Galaxy NexusGalaxy Note, 2, 3, 4Nexus 4, 5, 6, 10LG G3, G4Motorola XoomRAZR MAXX HDXiaomi MI-2, MI-3Droid UltraMoto XHTC One (M8)

I like the app, but the only feature I can use is the Pressure Graph thats stored. Not many people in my city report the weather and they've now removed the pressure tags from other peoples phones which was at least interesting to look at, so my map is bare most of the day. 2017 Edit: seems like that "Sunshine Beta" app they were developing flopped, now the banner in app is annoying AND useless. Devs seem AWOL

Rubbish, it's just anyone who opens the app and puts what the weather is like. Only USA folk are using it. Uninstalled

Latest version fixes all issues I've had. Happy to contribute to the greater good.

It's really interesting but the temps are WAY off. It's showing anywhere between 45 & 72 degrees F in Las Vegas when it's actually around 109. So that part is useless.

Worked fine on stock roms on this Galaxy S3, now on CM13 (and since CM11) the program claims it has no barometer despite the fact other apps can display information from it.

Crashes on Pixel XL. I used to use this to help collect pressure data. Now, I dunno.

Update is good, no more crashes! Sunshine now available on the Play Store, worth a look.

It's 27°C outside right now; PressureNet thinks it's 6. Environment Canada forecast says it'll be 14°C tonight; PressureNet thinks it'll be -7. Something has gone terribly wrong.

Barometric pressure is correct, which I need, but temperatures are CLEARLY WRONG, it shows 43F on 9/17/17 for 01588 when temp is 80F!!!

This is a useless feature as all in my area say it's 61 when it's close to 40 as I write this. If this feature is necessary for some reason, please give us a toggle to turn it off. Previous version showed pressures on the map ..that what this app is about. I'll keep it running to support research, but otherwise there isn't much point to look at a map with bad information on it.

I liked earlier versions better. You used to be able to view other users' pressure obs in the map, but now you can't. I also don't like how I can no longer view text data of my own pressure obs unless I export. Not worth the effort for something so simple.

has regressed to an almost worthless app! I had had such high hopes. I can't see anyone's data on the map (inc mine), and either no one is submitting weather conditions anymore or they aren't visible. This could be a case of mass exodus. Having only my own baro. pressure reading is almost pointless, especially since it wavers drastically as well as sometimes showing it altitude adjusted then jumping back to the raw values. If I could see neighbor values, I could see the shift in pressures by area. Too bad.

I have arthritis and this is a great tool to help me understand how the pressure causes pain. It's definitely better in Corpus Christi Texas than Oklahoma! Just wanted to update that the temperature is not accurate. It's 33 here but showing 61 in Glenpool Oklahoma on the map & 45 in other areas around us. Therefore I downgraded my rating to 4. Fix the glitch & I'll go back to 5.

I miss the feature that told you how many readings you have sent that week and in total. I'd love for you to add it back.

Kev. M. Nov 21, 2015

Now the app doesn't show you the pressures on the map. Now you get temperatures and currently the temperature is 32 but the map is showing 51. Kind of useless.

Pat. F. J. Mar 14, 2016

I use this for seeing my own pressure data but the interface is awful due to fonts that are too small for anyone to see. I still use it though.

Jef. L. Apr 24, 2016

My pressure shows in the upper left, but there's no data being acquired and plotted. The widget does not update pressure and it no longer opens the app when you tap on it. Temperature on map is useless because you're seeing in-pocket temperatures!
