Prey Anti Theft

After the latest android update, this app lost all admin credentials, rendering it useless, and we got no email or warning saying that the app was essentially disabled. Had I lost my phone during the last month I'd be extremely pissed off. Update: The app will not allow me to log in with the exact same password I just logged in on the website. What about not wasting time in all the dumb sci-fi animations and you focus on the basic core functionality instead?

I installed the app at least a year ago, and it was working great. However, I realized today it hasn't tracked my phone in months. So, I wanted to logon and check, but I'm greeted with a file not found error and a stuck loading screen. Even uninstalling and reinstalling gives me the same issues. What a disappointment. As a result, this is getting 1-star from me and a permanent uninstall unless the problems are addressed.

I had prey on my pc and it worked perfectly but it doesn't seem to work on my cellphone. When I installed the app my task manager stopped working, and I couldn't close the background apps. Today the app asked for the pin code every single time, but I couldn't type it. I checked the touchpad and the settings buttons, and they were working just fine. At the end I had to force the restart and uninstall the app.

Does what it says it will do! Really good app! Only wish it used a better map program like Google maps. And in the map view the screen showing you were the device is, is so large it covers most of the map itself. Also when the app is in "missing mode" the pictures it takes on a mobile device is FAR from silent. Can clearly here the shudder sound like a normal camera, and it happens so much it would be really difficult for someone to not notice.

The app seems great, but there are many problems. I downloaded it and made an account to try and find my phone that I lost. The device appears in the list of devices that I can add, but it is faded out and doesn't let me add it, saying that it's already added. I never added the device, and I really need to find it. A fix or some help would be greatly appreciated.

Works well, could use a more understandable UI. I was confused at first what device was currently being protected, but after guessing a little bit, I figured it out. Great App, it's saved me in the past, so I know it works well, when you have service, or make sure to maybe turn on your roaming.

Other reviews say it all. Completely broke the shutdown protection, which was a PITA & caused some serious concern when it made it take forever to boot back up, after I STILL managed to get it to shut down (though it took a while) even despite Prey trying to prevent it & then some. & now can't access settings since it's not accepting my PIN. All this on top of the fact it constantly crashes if it doesn't have network access, which makes me question just how reliable it could actually be.

Something was not working correctly. I was getting a 401 credential error, despite using the same credentials as on my other devices running iOS and Win 10. Tried to Uninstall and reinstall a few times, same problem. So went with Google find my phone instead and it is far superior in my opinion. Even took Prey off my iOS device after this because Apples built in tracker was also more accurate in a side by side test. I do still use it for my Windows laptop though, it works for that OS fine.

I remember hearing about Prey years ago and ever since, I've made sure to install it on all of my devices. Up until today, that has been perfect and thankfully I never had to use it. I recently did a Chromebook powerwash, which previously had the android app installed on it. So when it reinstalled, imagine my surprise when it said the app was no longer compatible. However, it did tell me there was an exension for Chrome, which only works if paying. Which is $5 for what I get for free.

Have been using the is app for some time but started coming up with a lock screen which could only be cleared though locking and unlocking the device through the windows interface. Ie. Would not accept the password on the phone. I removed and reinstalled the app but now it keeps coming up randomly with lock screen every few minutes. Now uninstalled.

I used to love this app and I have used it on every smartphone I have owned. My favourite feature is the Shield OFF Button because the first thing thieves do when they steal your phone is to turn it off so it cannot be tracked. But now that function does not work on my OnePlus 5 running Android 8.1.0. The function is enabled but I can still turn off the phone in a locked state. For this, I am keeping 3 stars and uninstalling the app from my phone.

Actually Unlock issue isn't a big problem. That is a great feature though. Initially I worried but later I found a solution that by pressing multiple buttons of the phone we can restart the phone and unlock it. And I found the feature useful as no one can switch off the phone on theft. Unless it is switched off we can find our phone. Rating 2 star as u removed the feature otherwise even 5 stars is less to prey. So please bring back the feature.. I hope it in the next update. Thank you

Slightly Annoying What I would say is that it's a bit irritating how the app is so Apple centred, [eg. You cany choose which sound to ring]. So in other words if I could change one thing if would be to add more types or ringers when finding your device, for example just a basic ping, since you don't only use a phone tracker for theft; sometimes I just use it because I lost my phone somewhere in my house.

Thank you for creating this amazing app, it has been the most important app I must have in my phone. I noticed that on the latest version of android the power off block option is not available. will this be permanent or will you guys be able to get back that important feature cause my phone doesn't even have that option anymore....

The prevent power off feature continues to be broken in this version. Not only that, this version also forces the same useless password screen upon rebooting the phone. Since it won't accept any valid password, it effectively disables the phone completely!!!. Luckily I have some basic knowledge and was able to manually remove Prey from recovery mode, but anyone else is doomed!!!. You must fix this ASAP!

I like all the features but specially power button restriction. I tried casual it worked good when I tried to switch off. When i tried technical it's fail, bcz when i press on Power button it shows power options like Shutdown, Restart etc and this pop-up visible for few milliseconds. So i can switch it off easily without pin. i request you kindly work on it. I hope it will be the best security app ever.

It was a good app, don't know what happened but I guess with the latest update it broke. My phone randomly locks and it can't be unlocked even with the unlock password. This has caused me great inconvenience, as it has locked up on me when I needed it for important tasks away from home. This needs to be fixed immediately.

This app helped me find my phone when I lost it at the public pool. The staff as not aware the phone had been left at the front desk, but the beeping noise helped them locate it in a lost and found box. Would definitely recommend everyone to have this installed. 10/10

This application is very good and hlepful but after update android 9.0, facing one issue as showing "this feature is not available in android 9 due to Google policy" while enabling turn off shield button feature in application. so plesse fix this issie or suggest for what sould i do for the resolution. I'm very appropriate when issue will resolved.

Great app. Had it installed on various devices for years. One slight issue with the android version is that there is no on-screen "return to full report" button when viewing a screenshot or camera picture. The stock "back" key logs me out straight away. Am I missing something?

Even with shield OFF button ticked, i can switch off my phone from the lock screen. It doesn't work at first attempt but the second time i press power button, the screen for switch off the device appears. The prey pin is asked after i unlock the device which is pretty useless. Please fix. Redmi note 6 user.
