I've been using the online service for a few months now. The app itself is a replica for the most part of their website which is convenient that you can get to it at the click of a button. The service itself in my experience has been pretty good and the scheduling has been accommodating for my work and school hours which are far from consistent. The price of the service is about average for a counselor service in my area and changing who you you see when/if you move is simple enough.

Therapist is good, video unreliable. Frozen screens or no video at all. Frustrating. Annoying beeps throughout sessions. Technology is no longer new, is it really that hard to provide a reliable connection?

The service is excellent, and much needed for a marginalized community with sometimes poor access to mental health care. In many ways I found this service more convenient and accessible than traditional approaches. I think the app needs some fine tuning -- particularly the live chat, which works very unintuitively, and so slowly that it defeats the purpose of using text. It's still a very impressive service and app, which I hope gets the chance to grow and improve.

I got matched right away with an awesome therapist. She responds quickly and really helpped me get to a better place. If you're worried about the cost, you can apply for a discount during the sign up process. It is nice to be able to text my therapist right away when something happens & then get into mote details during the live sessions. Live sessions can be over text, phone or facetime and usually function pretty well. (with a few bugs on the computer) Overall, its an investment in yourself.

Put your money to Better Use. I loved the concept, but experience was bad. My initial counsellor was great but completely booked solid. Her availability was about once a week, her text responses were about 1x per day. Technical issues with video and the phone calls didn't work. We tried multiple times. Customer service was subpar and takes a business day to reply. This service could work for you, just know what you're paying for. It's an expensive investment to find out. App has a nice layout .

This app has been incredibly helpful to me during these uncertain times. Please take note that after your 1 week free trial, if you do not meet the requirements for financial help, it charges you the Full Cost for the month upfront, you cant just pay for each session. This isnt a bad thing but something to be aware of. I still highly reccomend this app for accessability and flexibillity.

The process for finding a counselor was a frustration, but once i found someone to work with, its been a blessing. Just getting started, but this feels good, which is nice. Customer care isn't great -- a lot of the agreements are written in a purposefully misleading way (was charged more than expected, not presented with a cheaper option until after i was already charged $260). App itself works well! If you're patient & need ongoing support non-urgently, save up some money & come get some help!

Tried signing up several separate times, each time giving very different answers to the signing up questions as I have come to this for different reasons each time and it has always said that "this might not be the best option" and hasn't let me in. You can't offer help and give people hope just to destroy that by denying them the help that they have taken so much courage to reach out for

So far there hasn't been any issues. The personalization options make it easy to find a therapist that fits!

So... Love the idea...but I looked into this for something affordable. Even with the 40% discount, because I don't make that much, I can't use it because it requires me to bill monthly.. I can pay 39/week but I can't afford a whole month of that at once up front. I'd love a pay per session option...

The app is great and I got matched to a counselor thst I really connect with. Im surprised at how much more honest I can be when im not sitting in a room face to face with someone, and when I'm brainstorming on my own time. We also have access tot the Betterhelp seminars from here, that are really good! one request I have is that the journal function that is included in the Betterhelp act be included in this app. Then, 5 stars.

I really appreciate this app because I personally don't like/can't make appointments and physically go to a space to get talk therapy. I do think I would've appreciated them to tell me that you only get one session per week though, and if you cancel one session close to the appointment, you have to schedule one the next week. It's not fair to say that you get unlimited video sessions because it's not unlimited.

I love my current counselor! My first one didn't really mesh with what I was needing/expecting. I'm glad I changed counselors so that I could get the support I needed. This is so much nicer than going into an office and it is so much more convenient!! I would suggest it for anyone who has a busy or chaotic schedule and just needs someone to talk to/at with the option to have Skype style talks, or phone calls when they find into *your* schedule.

Good, but buggy. Hard not to accidentally hit emojis because it makes the keyboard smaller. Then it comes up with a message saying you can't send emojis. It's more expensive than talkspace, but the basic plan seems to allow a weekly live chat or video session, which you have to pay more for with talkspace. It also costs more than talkspace and more than advertised, but if you are low income, you can get a discount which you have to reapply for every three or four months.

I've tried about three times over a long period, each time feeling at my lowest and each time beating my own record for what the lowest is, and coming here hoping my answers will somehow qualify. They never do. I dont know what they want, but chances are they won't offer you any help, so it's better not to waste the space on your phone at all. I'm sure this app is helpful to some people, but it sure as hell isn't to me.

I got lucky with a really great therapist. The phone calls are convenient and take the stress of leaving my house and being stuck in a therapist chair, and no commute! I get to text my therapist 24/7 and they respond with wise advice, or at least, its nice to know someone out there is listening and doing their best to understand. Compared to other therapists, this is very affordable! Thank you for this service.

This app is really good for people who want to keep up with regular therapy but don't necessarily have the money for traditional therapist offices. It gives you the ability to shop around for a counselor really easy if the first one you meet doesn't Vibe well with you and even if a counselor wasn't a good match for me personally I never had any issues with them

Jac. May 27, 2021

I was given a wide selection of preferences for a counselor and the first person I was paired with has been absolutely amazing for helping me process everything. I highly recommend this app for anyone going through trauma or for anyone like me that has struggled to get into therapy before.

The sub app of Better help has been extremely helpful. There is zero judgement with my therapist. I currently see 2 therapists at the moment, including with Pride Counseling. It's really nice to get a response once a day. Daily counseling has helped me a ton. Instead of basic questions and asking how you feel, they really dive into working on yourself. Self discovery is probably one of the hardest but most rewarding works a person will ever do in their life. BetterHelp/PrideCounseling assists with that.

I went through three therapists and they were all HORRIBLE. You have no ability to choose your therapist, they just assign you one. One therapist kept insisting on exposure therapy for my PTSD. We tried it, it was bad, I said we're not doing this anymore. She continued to pressure me about it for several months, passive aggressively. When I called her out on pressuring me and asked her not to bring it up anymore, she literally *got manipulative* and tried to tell me it was just my perception. Fired. Next therapist LITERALLY told me to try the scam weight loss product It Works. I really hope you all are doing a better job at screening your therapists, because it's BAD.

Pride Counseling is one of many "brands" of the same company. I used them for a few months, and my counselor was nice, but not very helpful. Overall, I found her to be less engaged than my previous in-person therapist. Also, you have to be careful. They use the term "counselor" because anyone can be a counselor. There's no regulations on what training is required to be a counselor. Many of them are actually licensed therapists, but not all of them. Since this is an app review, I should at least talk about the technology. Technically, this app is poorly done. The video and phone calls are very tempermental. Their financial aid system is a scam. There's no financial aid whatosever. It's just an offer of a miniscule discount after taking your personal information for their own data exploitation. Overall, I found virtual therapy to be less effective and more expensive. It would be better to find a real, independent therapist who is setup to give virtual visits through their own system.

This is honestly horrible, most people that get it can't even get let in, I tried like 50 times. I wouldn't have got it if I didn't need it, I can't afford face to face, and my friend got in but she couldn't use it because she had to pay. This is honestly the worst way of doing things, put ads in it, I'd rather that then pay for it.

The. R. Dec 10, 2021

Charged over 600 for NO sessions. I canceled the app, and they charged me TWICE, and I've never even had 1 single session. I would not recommend this to anyone. No one at Pride has gotten back to me, and I've contacted support 5x. This is horrible. Would never recommend them.

Bel. L. Aug 6, 2019

my therapist was not as responsive as I would have liked. Expensive & she forgot my first session then ended the second one 20 minutes early. I tried switching but I just dont think teletherapy is right for everyone.

Jea. K. Jul 8, 2019

This app got me in contact with a therapist immediately, my first contact from her within a day. The real-time chat between live sessions has been an excellent outlet for sharing day-to-day experiences. Booking appointments is easy. Most importantly, I was able to specify my need for an LGBT+ positive therapist at the outset and the app's security features make me feel that I can be safe to speak openly about my feelings and identity.

This app has a great intention and if you can affoes it then ita probably worth it. But I couldnt afford it and instead of being helpful the app tried to guilt me into paying. When attemtping to respind to a message youre given the option to pay or be okay withput therapy. They make you actually click not being okay with therapy. I wouldnt recommend this app.

Fantastic. The therapist I was matched with is amazing. She is a really great listener and gives me excellent advice. She's really helping me deal with some past trauma while also dealing with transitioning from one job to another.

Con. E. Aug 26, 2021

The first and second matches flat-out rejected me. However, third time seems to be the charm as I absolutely love my third match. She is super qualified and messages me at least once a day. She has really helped me with my issues and I couldn't be more grateful.

Bro. R. Aug 16, 2019

My counselor is so nice and has already helped me more than previous counselors by recommending programs and stuff I didn't even know existed. Shes smart, and supportive and I love that I can message her any time of the day or night and say "Hey this is going on" and she responds as soon as she can.

My therapist is great and this platform makes it super easy to get connected with and switch therapists if things aren't working. For me. I'm glad they are, and it's really comforting that I don't have to be scared of coming out to my therapist. Or have to pretend to be something I'm not to them.
