Update: Service still doesn't work 8+ months later. I'll pay out of my contract and go with a reliable service provider. I'm done. Not worth my time. Negative stars. This is a review on both the app and brinks. I had protect America for almost 2 years and had good reliable service. No issues with the app. Brinks takes over and my entire system crashes. Why would I pay for a service I'm not getting? I'm in a contract but they are in breach for not providing the service I signed up for.
All recent reviews saying "connect fail" were fixed. Took two days but fixed. Other than that, this is still a Protect America. No fancy designs for the apps. It looks like an app from first generation android but they get the job done. Simple to use for alarm. But other features such as smart switches, are so outdated. This app, as well as there equipment, offers zig wave devices but no wifi products.
It worked fine for years and now, suddenly, I continue to get "connect failed" upon trying to arm via this app. I loved the convenience of this app, especially since my mornings are crazy with dogs, cats, kids, etc. Being able to run out and arm the system from my car once everything else was done was so nice. Ugh...it is so frustrating it's no longer working!!!
Yay!! It's FINALLY working again!!! Update: 5/10/2021....when is there going to be a fix for the app?? Customer service told us 24 hours & that was 3 days ago. This is ridiculous & doesn't do a damn bit of good to have an alarm system that doesn't work........ My husband nor I have been able to open the app in two days. It's great when it works but useless without being able to turn our alarm on & off with the app
After Brinks took over Protect America, this app has degraded to an utterly useless shell of what it was. Buttons become unresponsive and trying to arm and disarm is nearly impossible. I am either met with a blank screen, endless loading loop, or the app says system offline. I've reset the modem and router thinking it would fix the issue, but no. Same problems arise when on 4GLTE as well. If Brinks can't run an app, I'm now questioning their ability to help secure my home.
system does not work at all with my phone app, always tells me there are open sensors when there are none. Tells me the system is offline and can not connect to the internet. I've tried reloading the app numerous times but that did nothing to fix the problem. Still unable to arm/disarm my house with my phone app. Useless to own this security system if it's not user friendly.
The app always says System Offline and at times it says Disarmed even after I clearly set the alarm at home. The app is horrible and I don't feel any sense of safety! I've spent countless hours on the phone with customer service trying to fix this issue and it always come back. We will never renew no matter what!!
Hello. The app stopped sending alerts to my Android phone last month after 9 reliable years -- both audible & visual alerts are gone. I've done warm & cold reboots & checked all notification settings in the app and phone -- they are properly set -- still no dice to this day even after your updates. The control panels & app no longer talk to each other. Now I don't feel confident about detecting breakins when I'm away for several days. Please give me a solution immediately.
Update on app: Thank you for fixing my app issues in a reasonable time frame. I appreciate the feedback and being able to once again use my application. Re: What happened? I've been using this app with no problem for years all of a sudden a couple of days ago it says connection failed and it doesn't matter which phone I use it's the app it's not the phones or the connection. These supposed bug fixes ruined the app. What did you guys do? Fix it please.
Abysmal. I swapped phones and cannot remember the password, I tried the password recovery and as soon as I click on the link it says session expired. I tried customer service automated text, no help at all. Tried calling customer service and zero response after almost an hour on hold. Inconvenient at best to not be able to use the app to arm and disarm my system.
Horrible. It worked for years and recently says "connect fail" when trying to log in. I tried to update it..uninstalled it then reinstalled, tried to reset my password only to have "session expired" the minute I opened the link. It's a HUGE inconvenience not having access to the app. Definitely going to look into a different system now.
Terrible since Brinks took over. App doesn't send notifications of activity or alarms which is the entire point of the app and service. Additionally it lists sensors that don't exist and claims to be offline on a regular basis when both console and cellular device are functioning fine. It's basically entirely useless as home security monitoring which is literally the service we're paying for.
How is this even allowed. I've been a customer since 2014. Since the buy out of Brinks I am agreeing with many customers posting about the recent issues that seem to have appeared since Brinks took over. The most recent issue that more than 10 people have already posted as of the 7th that the app no longer works and allows users to connect. Luckily Alexa can still connect. Will try the website which is still protect America branded. If this isn't resolved I'm asking for a refund.
The app has been offline for days. I keep getting the connection failed error message. Also, before hand the console would be offline and send those notifications to the app as well. I was advised by a representative to replace the battery. All this after being charged for a technician visit, whom didn't fix the issue but stood at my front door the time. I eventually got my 142 back, thank God, but what is going on here?
App was resolved.. finally. However as of 5/22 issues are still present. Called tech support and they said having technical issues. Appears working as 5/9, but still lacks scheduling functionality. Protect America website for same, worked, no longer does. Bad merger for sure for us PA previous subscribers!
The app worked fine previously never had a issue. These past few days i cannot use the app at all nothing but a error message its such an incoinvience and they have yet to figure out why its not working. Communication with Brinks is also horrible because they have yet to send out anything explaining this issue to customers. If this continues I may have to find another company to secure my property.
I have had Brinks for 4 years ,and I would not recommend this company to anyone. I have had alarm go off multiple times and no one even calls you. If you have a technician problem don't expect any help because they will just transfer you untill you give up. I have been on the phone over an house and a half to accomplish nothing. Horrible company!
Just as horrible as the service. The app rarely opens, it will give me a message such as server not connected. There is a delay with sounding of alarm as well and it's times where the cameras won't show up on the app at all.... not much help if there is danger near....
I can't stand this app. It so very rarely works on the first try. It constantly says the system is offline but i'm right in front of it! I miss Protect America so much.
I never had issues with Protect America, but this app has recently started acting crazy. My password has been autosaved to my app for YEARS, but when I logged in the other night it said that my password was incorrect. After resetting it to a temporary password, I am not able to reset to something that I'll remember. I've tried contacting the computerized "live help" 🙄 but it (nor the site) cannot find my account with my email address....even though my temporary password was emailed to me🙄
the phone app definitely needs some love and needs to work properly. every time I set it armed stay it will arm as away always. I have called to trouble shot and still does not work properly. at times it stops giving me notifications. please fix your phone app. the service it self is great
The app sucks! It worked great under Protect America then Brinks came along and screwed it up! Constantly tells me I'm offline when I always get armed and disarmed notices. I even try to login immediately after getting a notice a d it still says offline. I'm tempted to go to ADT. Why is it when a company gets bought out the acquiring company always has to change what works! You would get 0 stars if I could give it!
5.6.2021, app suddenly stopped working for both my hubby & I. Error: "connect failed". Looked at previous reviews & it seems this has been an on going issue for the last year. Does Brinks not want Protect America customers & instead wants us all to switch over to their platform? Brinks bought a company so it's only fair to honor their previous clients! Plain and simple. 5.10.21-Update: Based on Brinks feedback. Reinstalled app. Able to log in. Not changing my review until I see consistency.
Recommend this alarm. The monitoring alerts your email each time the alarm is prompted. Knowlegeble customer service alarm support. Not a fan of their security camera so I opted for a different surveillance camera company. Motion, glass break sensors, everything else is on point. Used for 1 year.
The last couple of days this app will not operate my alarm! Keeps saying "connect failed". I haven't changed any settings on my alarm system at all, now all of a sudden this app doesn't work anymore!
Doesn't work. Always says offline but I can go to the pad and it works and says aloud system ok. I just got this a week ago and it's a poorly made app. My system doesn't arm. I can't arm and stay. Can't change my password. I've uninstalled 10 times and still doesn't work. Chat help was piss poor. No one to verbally talk to 24/7. Makes me want to change companies and break my contract. I will not refer anyone to this company. Now I can't arm the system says system disabled. No response yet.
All this app does it take up space on my phone. Absolutely worthless! Nothing but problems all year. Connect failed. Cannot even log into my account on my desktop. Customer service isn't much help either. Every time I call, they are "working on it". What a joke!
The app is always slow and buggy, but now it's completely unusable. I keep getting an error saying "connect failed" when attempting to log in. I can't use by phone to log in, or to arm/disarm the alarm.
For the past few days, anytimw I try to log in, I get a message saying "connect failed". But I know the username and password is correct because we can log in with them on an iPhone. I need to be able to log in on an android. Fix this immediately!
Update!! 5-16-22 The same problem continues over a year later!! This is totally ridiculous!! I have deleted & re-installed the app & I have the latest version!!! The problem was NEVER fixed as they stated!! Horrible since last up date!! Will NOT connect!! Says connection failed!! Stop messing with an app when it's working fine!!! I'm about switch companies over this!!!
