Like virtually everyone else here says, the app is trash, the firmware is trash, the Alpine Labs team aren't updating the app to work with new phones. They don't do updates any more, bugs aren't fixed. If you're lucky enough to connect at all, you'll likely constantly get disconnected, or the thumbnail feature won't work, or it will tell you that the device is connected, but it isn't connected to a camera. And yet, they still sell the product from their website. Scam.

When I had my iPhone it connected 75% of the time to my Canon 6D. When I switched to Samsung S9+ the app connected once. I have been trying for weeks now to connect and no luck. I wish I could get my money back. This product has been extremely disappointing and that's the honest truth. Save yourself from stress and find another option. Sincerely, -M

Very buggy unit. Worked occasionally on my older phone (2 years ago). Recently tried on a Pixel 3 and Samsung S10 and will not connect via Bluetooth. Feels like an Android OS/pulse firmware issue but I have no way to upload new firmware..... Was very supportive of this concept when it first came out but Alpine Labs doesn't appear to be interested in supporting this unit anymore. Noticed the Android app has last updated in 2017!?! Save your money and look elsewhere. Sad.

Perfectly useless Classic example of someone making money at the start of something and then refusing to plough some of that back into R&D, firmware and software updates. The app is hopeless irrespective of the phone and the Pulse refuses to recognise any of my cameras despite updated drivers and the latest firmware. Some amazing apps and devices out there to remotely help you take images. Pulse isn't one of them.

The Pulse does not connect with my Nikon D5200 camera. I have attempted several times and but it does not connect. I have downloaded the Pulse software to a Galaxy 10+ and also to a Galaxy 6 and neithenr phones connect. I am very disappointed with this product, despite the high praises from the professionals that shoot night skies.n

Great when it works. Tends to disconnect or not react. Purchased mainly for long exposures as I can't easily read my camera settings in the dark. Easy to use as long as the connection is good.

Update July 21 2020 dec 22 2020 NOT WORKING.team won't respond waist of money I want this to work can't even send bug issue through this app. Please fix this app so it works again. - have used product for years but now cant get it to pair with phone via app or bluetooth whether it is attached to camera or not. Fully charged. turned everything on and off even deleted and reinstalled still won't pair. giving 1 stars for it is not working but will be great again if it pairs with my phone.

Finally arrived yesterday, strange that it's iOS firmware based and won't let my android update... Time lapse works fine, but only one feature 'exposure ramping', adds to the disappointment along with the Bluetooth issues

Absolutely positively a useless paperweight. Will not connect to IOS/ IPhone, or android..... several emails to customer support with no response.

As of September 24, 2020, the latest update does not work. The only thing that works is that it connects and works for about 5 min. I tried to submit a bug, through the app, and it tells me that i am not connected to the internet. I am in my house and connected to the internet.

App won't even install on Samsung S9. Useless unit and I feel like a real chump for supporting Alpine Labs on Kickstarter. It's a shame because it puts people off other startups that might actually have products that work. Don't waste your time/money

I have had no problems with either the app of the pulse, they work as Alpine Labs said they would .... Brilliantly

Having some trouble pairing my new phone to the Pulse, but when the app works it's a great app.

When this device and app came out it worked great. Since updates it's useless. All I get are error messages saying no shutter settings no matter what I do. They do not offer any support whatsoever, have been emailing for almost 6 months without a single reply.

Update October 2nd: No replies, no help... I feel I got robbed. - Samsung S8+ was able to get Pulse connected via Bluetooth but the app doesn't connect to my Nikon D7200 Camera, keeps showing "No Camera". Set everying to manual and no luck. Submitted a "Bug Report" via the app. Top of the line phone with a top of the line dx camera and it doesn't work... I hope this gets fixed or I want my money back.

The pairing of the app with the device is fluctuating and often lost. If I turn on the thumbail feature, the timelapse stops. There is no acces to interval between shots once the timelapse has started. No bulb ramping function(in my version). Also it is impossible to change any setting as long as the device isn't connected to the camer, paired with the phone, and turned on (that may cost you precious minutes of shooting to set things up, and got me very frustrated more than once)

expensive waste of money, before I purchased the pulse I emailed and asked if it was going to be compatable with my old camera 3100 and the camera I was going to purchase, well it is as long as you spend a further £25 to buy another lead, if I had known I would have purchased at same time.struggled to get it to work on the basic 3100. The Nokia 5300,well that won't connect at all. Feeling ripped off as it is not a cheap price of kit, it should work it doesn't work. Full of bugs, It looked full of promise and was excited but feeling let down

Ada. Dec 15, 2017

Edit: New software release seems to have fixed my initial problems. Only connects to my samsung galaxy s5 (and camera) 1 in 10 tries. Works every time on my Ipad. App needs more work on Bluetooth connection.

Jak. M. Nov 15, 2017

App is slow and clumsy, disconnects my Bluetooth while trying to update firmware for the device. The device itself has never even worked on my camera. Waste of time and money for a gimicky product with poor build quality.

sai. p. Apr 30, 2018

I'm using the app on a Note 8 first of all. Secondly it keeps saying no camera connected. Also it will not show any thumbnails. Everytime you press the shutter. Nothing, it lights up like it's going to take a picture.

Jos. J. Sep 28, 2017

Bought from alpine labs only to be informed after a month of me chasing my order that the item is out of stock and may never be back in stock. Happy to take my money though. Poor customer service.

Mar. P. Dec 9, 2017

Not as advertised. Was supposed to provide live view for video and photo and does neither. Hope they fix this to work as they said it would

I find this to be the best way to control a camera for time lapse sequences. It's easy to use and reliable when used correctly.
