PulsePoint Respond

PulsePoint empowers individuals, within covered communities, with the ability to provide life-saving assistance to victims of cardiac arrest. Application users who have indicated they are trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) are notified if someone nearby is having a cardiac emergency and may require CPR. If the medical emergency is in a public place, the application uses sophisticated location-based services to alert trained citizens in the immediate vicinity of the need for CPR. The application also directs these citizen rescuers to the exact location of the closest public access Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
PulsePoint currently provides coverage for hundreds of cities and communities, with many more on the way. See http://www.pulsepoint.org/pulsepoint-respond/#coverage%20map for a coverage map.

The PulsePoint app is a virtual window into these 911 communication centers and provides real-time access to emergency activity as it is occurring. Users can view incidents
- including the current response status of dispatched units
- and instantly pinpoint the location on an interactive map. Curious as to where that fire engine or ambulance that just passed is headed? Is there an accident up ahead causing this traffic tie-up? Just tap the application to quickly find the incident location or plan an alternate route.

Additionally, users can choose to receive incident notifications when they are dispatched and listen in on live emergency radio traffic via this modern version of the traditional fire scanner. A photo gallery of significant events along with other agency images and information can also be easily accessed.

Would you like to see PulsePoint supported in your community? All that is required on the local level is the initiative to get started. Bring PulsePoint to the attention of your local fire department, city council, or emergency response agency and tell them you would like them to see PulsePoint helping to save lives in your community.

Original development of the PulsePoint app was the result of a successful partnership between the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District (CA) and the College of Informatics at Northern Kentucky University in 2009. In 2011 the PulsePoint Foundation was formed β€œto share its life saving potential.” Today all engineering is provided by skilled volunteers from Workday, Inc.

I really love this app and use it almost daily. I would only make one minor change to the app's button. I have accidentally opened iHeart Radio's app numerous times because it looks similar, especially when woken up in the middle of the night. Both are red and white with a heart. It's hit or miss which agencies are on the app, but I'm thankful for those in my area. I wish more would sign up. The app really does work well and I love being able to see what's going on in my neighborhood.

Outstanding tool ! Allows for the nearest help be notified when it counts in rural areas. Need a way to select how far away it is, so you are not getting alerts for the entire county. Otherwise, I end up turning the app off because of too many alerts that are far away. That defeats the purpose of the app. IT is supposed to tell me as a trained resource,( pro vr not supported) in a remote area that someone needs help or there is an incident near me, that affect me, not ten miles away. Please fix

This is great for notifications of urgent type near you. It allows for selecting types to be notified of. I wish that if I deselect an event type that it not only does not notify but it should not show in the list either. Obviously by deselecting a type I'm not interested in seeing that type. I installed again to see if anything changed. No change. This still shows events not selected in event list. For now I'm uninstalling again, and maybe will recheck in a year or two.

Love the info provided by the app; however, with the update to this latest version, my notifications come but not with sound. Please fix this! It's my only issue at this point. After following explicit instructions yesterday to ensure that app was not one of those optimized or affected by Data Saver (which was not on) I continue to have the same issue, speaker does not stay on if it comes on at all once I receive an alert. Doesn't work on Samsung Galaxy 8!

I find the notification sounds and volume level too intrusive. I'm getting notifications from all over my town. I'd like to filter those down to some more local to me, which would cut down to ones actually relevant to me. Also I find the notification sounds to be other than I would like. And be able to control which sound it plays and set the volume.

Thus far this has been a great app. I have been using it for a few months a find it very useful keeping a watchful eye for problems in my neighborhood. I just wish other local agencies would subscribe to the service. Still giving this app 5 stars. It is very useful having it available.

Would be more useful if you could select individual agencies rather than the entire County, also an inability to assign a custom notification sound on Google pixel 3 is frustrating as I can't differentiate a text message, from an email, from a pulse Point activation...

Would be much better if you could specify the range. For example I only want calls within 1 mile of me. The default seems to be my whole County. Which means a call can be as far as 40 minutes away.

Don't like the new format. Highlighted markings of recent incidents are not showing. Having to tap on map is an extra step. Was easier to use before.

The app worked fine until the most recent update. However, there are now issues: 1. Notifications send, but the incident doesn't appear in the app without refreshing several times. 2. Incidents appear in random places, i.e. off the coast of Africa, in the ocean. 3. I would like to have recent incidents list, but now, turning recent incidents on also displays them on the map. Previously, these were separate options. 4. I'm now getting frequent "PulsePoint is draining the battery" notifications.

This is the app that keeps you informed of everything that happens EMS-wise in your community and county! There are no ads. You can also check mark the EMS actions you want to see, and uncheck the others. My wife and I love it!

Reliable, but wish it would interface with local emergency alerts, such as police, forest fire, national, any disaster notification... One stop for All emergency alerts

It keeps you in the loop as to what roads might be closed if you are going somewhere. It also puts your mind at ease if you have a family member who lives in an apartment building. I would recommend this app to anybody.

In my county they literally never post anything from entire Townships. Roads blocked, fires, major accidents-never seen a one. Pointless if they can't get all the correct data.

I like Pulse Point to keep up with local emergencies and as a mom, I like knowing where my son's rig is during big fires. I liked it better when you could see all calls at once on the map.

It has me to know areas to avoid when traveling or planning my routes. It could have a better description key so we know what some of the stuff means.

Notifications? Where are they? IF I happen to look at my phone, I'll see something happened AFTER THE FACT. I was expecting some kind of an "alert" noise.

Lau. C. Mar 10, 2022

I absolutely love the new update - one click to information instead of bouncing around! Only reason it's not 5 stars is because it's not always accurate ....

lit. f. Apr 17, 2022

I am not sure if an update happened, but the app is now working perfectly and informs me of all the incidents like before. Wonderful app, keeps me informed!

JOS. O. Mar 16, 2022

No way to pick just your city etc just shows everything was blowing up non stop 😡 so i turned notifications off so whats the point of having this

Jos. Feb 14, 2022

Last update caused the battery usage of my device to jump significantly. It was active for less than 1 minute, but consumed almost 12% of my battery in one day, the second highest usage even though it was never used. I hope the battery issue can be fixed soon.

Doesn't work. Several agencies the dispatch channel is incorrect. Then broadcasify hasn't fix the broken channels for over a year. After the update the map button is HUGE! New layout is horrible. Very hard to use. Useless app.
