Useless. Absolutely useless. The app refuses to accept my username/password and there is no way to get more Information. By all means, go through the process to reset the password but nope, it throws up a screen that simply says 'Sorry, we can not reset your password at this time. Please try again latter'. I've been doing this for 5 days now. OVER IT.
I got Purple for an online painting class. very easy --works great! I worked with technical support on some misunderstandings I had about the class I took, and they are excellent and very responsive.
would delete but need for educational vid playback. menu gives you only three options. you can't organize by creating folders or anything. this company is terrible for not updating it. avoid buying software that needs purple player.
sadly I am also stuck using this play. Got two new tablets and installed this app download a entire library over 24 GB this took 4 attempts due to unfortunately app stopped working message. uninstall app re installed finally downloaded whole library and it crashed again. This app is not reliable company's need to stop using this.
Slow with Terrible User Interface. was going to buy something from Homespun Video but after downloading and installing the app founf that it is extremely slow and the UI is very clunky.
I have this app downloaded on another phone but however I am able to access the player using the very same email and password on my current phone. Nor will this app reset my password either. I have attempted to uninstall & reinstall to no avail.
just downloaded App did not give the option to create an account just went right to the log in tried to log in thinking it might work, but SURPRISE it told me that my account didn't exist. How am I suppose to login without making an account?
tried to log in after downloading and won't accept my password. tried to reset and still no luck. so essentially useless for streaming my lessons on my phone. does homespun have any other options?
If there was a way to give this app zero stars then I would. I downloaded this app so I can watch videos on and it is completely useless.
Absolutely refuses to load on my tablet. Just a continuous "loading" screen.

Please enable casting! I have to use my coputer to log into the website to cast to my TV. Please fix this.

Honestly guys we need to talk to homespun and guitar videos at this point and encourage them to ditch purple and go with another system. Please join me on emailing THEM with that request. Sorry purple player Edit:Yup after nearly ten years on apple android and pc this app is awful. We really need to put pressure on homespun and Guitar Videos to switch.
USELESS. Even if the content has been downloaded on your device such as your phone, as long as you are connected to your mobile internet (4G) it will stream it (expect 800mb per 30 minutes)..There is no option, it is automatic.. You have to disconnect your phone from your mobile internet if you want to use want was downloaded on your device. ...Absolutly useless if you are using a phone and not a tablet. I contacted the support and never got any reply. USELESS
I had some problems in the past because of my old smartphone, which ran out of memory and therefore couldn't run the videos. I updated my device, and now it works perfectly (as it always did in the past). They contacted me less than 24 hours after my last bad review, and it was just a cache memory problem. Thanks for the good job, I'll change the rating for the good!
I think the goal of turn-key integration of the video and PDF content is a good one, but would like to see more features. I use the app for Homespun guitar videos, and it would be SO much better if I could loop the same section over and over. Would also like to be able to resume where I left off, and, if streaming, resume from any other device as I might do with Netflix or Kindle content. I've never had any problems with crashing or anything else others have described, just wish it had more features.
I have one product that supposed to use it. Walk at home and it has never worked properly. Don't tell me to contact support because I had several times without luck. No refund when I asked for it wither. I got screw never sgain. I will pray Walk at home gets smart and used Vudu, hugely better format.
I never had a problem streaming or downloading the videos but in a previous version I could exclude dvds from my library list that I had watched them and I didn't want to have them on my list anymore, now I have to find every day the dvd exercise program that I am currently using through many others that I did years ago. When are you going to add this feature back? Or some other kind of filtering. It's very frustrating. Also you have to add the feature to cast this app on TV. I know I can use Chrome browser for casting but with a phone is much much easier especially when I am working out and I want to pause. It does the basic job but it needs many improvements.
Garbage. Cant even sign in even though I'm using my legitimate credentials. Logged in and out of the Gaia website multiple times with it, but this app acts as if I'm inputting it wrong. Trash.
Bought some classes via Android Central and tried several times over 2 hours to download a single master class. Download failed on the same video multiple times and each time I had to cancel the download which completely erases the 35 successful downloads (of 42). Directory on my SD card is empty. What did it spend that whole time downloading? Will try downloading another class but this seems like typical behavior according to all the other user issues.
i would give it no stars if I could. Same problem as all the others. I bought a DVD and it's taken over a month to deliver it. In the meantime the ability to view it or download it online is a pure fantasy and an exercise in total frustration. Support is non existent. Horrible.
Volume too low to be useful. When using pause, player crashes and videos have to be restarted, library order defaults to alphanumeric order, no way to search by date etc. No indication what has been watched or not. Not very good at all. Update - hate this app even more the more I use it! Now refuses to download any new programs, can't clear library of old watched stuff. How can a simple video player be so flawed??? Devs please look at vlc player for tips!!!
Yay! They finally fixed it...seriously! I have used both OSX and Android and they both were almost useless. But this latest download of the Android version of The Purple Player has had zero issues in the past two months. Thanks Gia, better late than never! ;)
This app can not be any more basic and that isn't a good thing. This is like Windows 95 basic. The only way to move back or fwd through a vid is by the bar at the bottom, which is jumpy at best or a giant jump to the next chapter. If you are watching an instructional video and only want to go back a few seconds in time (like YouTube) then you are out of luck. There is really no need to be this basic other than lack of customer concern by the developer. Stay away for anything other than play or pause.
