Works great so far! I like that I can see my messages on the app and set a chime for them if I want as well. I purchased a license as soon as I confirmed the reliability, and I appreciate that the developer has a one time purchase option instead of a subscription plan.
First, none of this was a problem with Pushover. Google had not delivered several alerts to the device. I hadn't yet noticed that alerts were not appearing when, a very short time later, I recieved an email from Pushover Support letting me know there was a problem with my Samsung Note 20 Ultra and alerts had been missed. That was unexpected and it was impressive! It went above and beyond my expectations. Thank you!
Updated my review! Thank you so much for adding DND as I previously requested! It looks like the widget DND button is a bit buggy. It has a very small clickable area making it difficult to press. Finally, one last nice to have feature would be a 1x1 button widget to toggle DND mode on /off. Other than that brilliant app, very reliable. Love it! Thanks!
Not get past the setup part that registers the device, it keeps on giving me this error, and restarting the phone and reinstalling the app doesn't help: "Registration for notifications through Google Play Services failed. Verify your device has Google Play Services installed and updated to the latest version, and try again. You may also want to try restarting the device."
I used to use Notify My Android but that seems to have died - it was unreliable too. Pushover however is absolutely brilliant! The interface is good, I like that you can set an icon for each application you create, and that the notifications actually arrive promptly. I bought this immediately once I'd tested it. Thank you devs!
only suggestion would be custom images, would be difficult to implement tho
Super easy to use, simple to make integrations to custom software! Worth the small license fee!
Great app, highly recommended. The app is simple to configure and use. The API performs well and delivers notifications quickly.
One of only 2 pager apps I've found that reliably execute (even when app closed, device restarted, etc.), just make sure any device specific battery-saving settings and such are set appropriately.
Excellent..! So long as Push is timely, this is awesome having a delivery mechanism that replicates the intricacies of SMS, without having to rely on the SMSC of your cellular provider nor their implementation (differences exist between AT&T and Verizon as an example). This is great for server alerts & similar w/o having to buy a ~$20monthly service for SMS, but even if you do, here @ $5 monthly that's pretty cheap!
The app and infrastructure is simple in the best possible way. Great API and features. Straightforward, one time pricing. The post-mortems for infrequent issues are detailed and transparent. The app itself is super fast, very light on disk space, resources, and doesn't require any permissions. This is a fantastic tool for any automation work.
Another Edit: Thanks to the developer for the reply below with which I finally found the setting I needed. If you want to set special properties for notifications received via your Pushover alias email, just click on the alias address listed in your account on the admin page. Edit: I use the email alias to receive notifications, which works well, but for now means I don't have the option to make notification alerts repeat. It would be good if emails marked high priority could trigger a more lasting alarm. Pushover has one major shortcoming for me: since this is primarily a notification app, i think it should absolutely have a setting for notification sounds and vibrations to repeat, either X times or maybe for X seconds, something like that. on my device the vibrate is just a few quick bursts, then no more. there is a way to load custom sounds into your online account, but it looks like they only get played by being sent to the app from the main server at alert time, which i'm not comfortable with depending on. so i picked the longest notification tone available to the app on my device, but if i'm in a loud place or in a deep sleep, i could all too easily miss a critical alert. if an alert repeat setting could be implemented i would rate the app 5 stars for sure.
thank you! have been looking for something like boxcar (on my iphone) to put on my android phones. and here it is: PUSHOVER. the provided push email address, which you get when you set up an account for this app, is what is needed for one of my devices that sends out email alerts. tried it out. it works. yea! and that sold me on this app. so, the $4.99 one-time license fee is well worth the paying for my purposes. thanks to the developer for this app!
Works perfectly every time! Even if you don't use their API, they provide you with a custom email address. Just send any message to that address, and a push alert is triggered to your Android device! I love their one-time fee model. I will not pay for apps that have a monthly fee. This app does not have any recurring charges. Keep up the great work!
An awesome feature for an amazing price. Very simple to configure, loaded with features and reliable. Not sure if you could ask for more.
This has got the be the BEST option, for your push notifications. Currently I'm using this with the Emby plug-in, and it's worked flawkessly. I get ALL notifications, using the widget on and I'm thrilled to support you, for such a great tool. I have tried them ALL, and your app works, with very little setup. Thank You So Much!!!
The app is awesome, I like the single device license and how cheap it is! However I bought the license before my trial period ends, but it is a good idea to extend the trial period to 1 month instead of just 7 days. Anyways, it is worth the money, totally satisfied.
At first, I can't decide over Telegram bot or Pushover. But after trying both, I'd say Pushover wins. 1. Pushover notification sound, priority levels are customizable. 2. Can select which device to push notification. 3. Different application key for each app. 4. More reliable (Somehow Telegram doesn't display the notification in time) Very happy with it
Pushover is a brilliant service that works just as advertised to get notifications on your phone. After a seven day trial you have to pay once, and then it works forever on any of your Android devices. They tell you about this beforehand, too, so this is no surprise Freemium. Their API is very well documented and consistent. Couldn't be happier.
This app is absolutely fantastic! Very easy to setup with ZNC-Push, and I added push notifications to a Python IRC Bot in only four lines! I've even added push notifications for specific events on my *NIX systems. I'm beyond pleased with the simplicity and speed of Pushover!
Great app and I love using it, my only complaint is that I wish it had a "mute for X amount of time" option. The time of day option is great to make sure it doesn't wake you up or disturb you, but it would be nice to be able to silence it for the next 30 min because you know that you're gonna get tons of messages
I like the App, But I am getting really annoyed and the license dropping in and out every day. This started after I linked (Group) a second phone device. please fix the licencing problem dropping on and off. thank you.
My only issue is that I would like to be able to press onto the notification of the horse that's alarm.is going off and mute it from my phone whilst in the paddock. Not from the main frame in a laptop/computer. Would make it so much easier.
A great app for reliable notification messaging between devices. I use it with IFTTT, triggering from a phrase spoken to a Google Home speaker resulting in an action taking place on my phone such as displaying search results or starting navigation.
Doesn't seem to work properly! I do receive notifications within the app itself, however I don't receive any sound notifications. Followed the guide in the help section and nothing seemed to work. Contacted support to which I haven't received a response from. So until they can rectify the issue, this app gets 1 star.
Best push notifications app ever! Exclusive feature: repeat alarm untill acknowledge, you will never miss even at night. Tonns of functionality and cool API. I'm so happy that I found Pushover, thank you so much!
Overall very useful for me, use it to notify myself for whatever small script I write and like to notify me (e.g. Simple webscraping, notify when something changes). Only downside is the conversion rate for the purchase. Apparently $4.99 is €5.49 instead of €4.25.
Dear Devs, I'm using Pushover for multiple feedback channels (still personal) successfully for years and would like to see the option for voluntary or private subscription options to ensure its sustainability. Please, just keep really user-friendly options available like $5-7 annual. It is still better than one-time fee and IMHO would allow many to contribute.
