Puzzle Hockey - Official NHLPA Match 3 RPG

Since hockey is my favorite, and I'm a big fan of puzzles I was super looking forward to this game. Only to be terribly disappointed, the puzzle part isn't too bad, but the controls when shooting on the opponent pretty much don't work. The puck doesn't shoot well, doesn't go where you are aiming the only legit way to score is by complete fluke. The defending is also terrible, the delayed response by the goalie and jerky movements make it all but impossible to make the save. Unless you can make the shooting and defending aspects of this game more responsive, I can't see this game getting a lot of good reviews anytime soon.

It's ok. This game seriously need optimization as well as massive balance overhaul. The first matches are ok but then the difficulty just suddently cranks up. The other team can break your defenses in like 2-3 hits while it takes a whole lot more for you to break theirs. Takes a very long time to unlock the boxes you get and barely have enough gold to level up your characters. The controls are not really responsive and that makes shooting the puck feel ackward. It does not go where you aim most of the time. Also, if the puck bounces off the other team's goalie and then slides in the net, it does not count. This needs to be fixed as well. Even if it did bouce off the goalie and goes into the net, this should count as a goal. It is unfortunate to say but, right now, it looks like the game was made to be pay 2 win.

This game has so much potential but doesn't live up to ut. Instead it has a difficulty you can't keep up with. The two most infuriating things I've found are that: 1. when the board is swept, all my accumulated special tiles are wiped away but the opposing team keeps theres. This is completely unfair and makes it even harder to get rid of the tiles. 2. The opposing special tiles are top hard to get rid of. Either the timer is too short or the requirements to eliminate them are too tough. I keep getting wiped out by consecutive double damage dealt by the other team. A difficult game can still be fun. A game that is unfair can not be.

It was a good game at first. A little cheesy, but fun nonetheless. the first handful of levels are challenging and fun. Eventually you get to a point where you HAVE to spend to make your team better than the AI. Once you reach the European leagues, the computer is just too many levels better than you, and their playoff teams are stacked to the point that it's just nonstop power ups. It's kind of sad but not worth playing any more if you cannot advance.

Meh. First few levels are too easy, then suddenly the difficulty level ratchets up to impossible. Shooting is so awkward the puck rarely goes even remotely where you're trying to put it. Why can I upgrade some players and not others? No idea. Controls are terrible, trying to edit your line takes 5 or 6 tries before you can actually select the player to be replaced (why? This is not difficult, the cards are stationary!). I've played two tournaments, and have one diamond. One. The cheapest locker is 150 diamonds. I really wanted to like, but it's pretty bad.

I took a break for several months and when I came back, the game performance has gone down the toilet during the passing, shooting, and goaltending mini-games. I can't really use skill for that anymore. The most perplexing part is that I'm even paying on a newer more powerful phone now, so it really makes no sense. It just chokes as soon as you start trying to drag the puck or goalie.

This has the potential to be a great game. But sadly it is not. 1st) problem is with the controls while shooting. You wait for an opening, you try to time your shot, you put your finger on the screen and swipe up....aaaaand... nothing. You try to swipe again before your opening disappears aaaand nothing... it take several attempts before the puck moves. By the time it works the goalie is squared up to you and getring the puck past him is nearly impossible. 2nd) problem is an unresponsive gameplay board. After maching 3 or more tiles the game starts an animation of said tiles disappearing and floating up to damage an opponent. This is all fine if it werent for the rest of the tiles are locked and wont respond until the entire animation is complete. Now i understand having to lock the board while a chain reaction is in progress. But once that is completed the secondary animation begins where the matched tiles float up and hit players from the opposing team. There is no need for the game board to continue to be locked during this secondary animation. All this serves to do is slow the game down and impead and or hamstring what could otherwise be a really fun game. Due to these game ruining control issues i can only give this game 2 stars. I would have given it 1 star but i do like the concept. its a fresh change from other match games like candy crush. Where you have combined a match 3 with a swipe and shoot hockey game. If they can fix these severe control issues this could easily be a 5 star game. But in its current state its 2 stars at best...

don't bother with this game. it is rigged for AI to always have the advantage. no matter what team you use your tiles will always be non existent and you will spend all game trying to make saves. which is impossible since its difficult to see around your own finger. if you are lucky enough to get a shot you can forget it. the controls are terrible and your shot never goes where you want it. there are better puzzle games out there

update: the controls are still bad. it's impossible to score. passing is not even worth it. your teammate never gets the puck or shoots it right. old review: Love hockey, so I love the concept of collecting real players & upgrading their abilities. controls for shooting or blocking are uselsss. Only way to win is pure luck & flukey goals. Fix the touch controls. No point purchasing virtual upgrades with real money if the controls dont work.

it's bad enough the way the NHL treats shootout wins, you think the Players Association would at least give you a point for a shootout loss. I seem to have more of those than I do regulation losses. and I never would have downloaded the game currently I only did because Drew Doughty was on different graphics. I want him back.

It can be fun until the game decides to cheat. You'll pick the correct type of players to go against your opponent and you could be 80% stronger than the opposing team but somehow the other team will still put more damage on you and win the game. It will also give you notes before starting a match as to which player type there will be less of or will take most of the damage so you won't choose those players but once you start, that is the player type there is most of. It's very frustrating.

Very nice so far! The unlock reward system is a bit tiresome and an artificial, frustrating delay. The upgrade system reaches a bottleneck on cost early. But the mechanics of the game are really fun, and the merging of hockey and match-3 is cleverly done! Looking forward to future updates.

Way too difficult after the first few games. Dont give enough money to upgrade players. The passes and shots seem ramdom, rarely goes where you aim. How come when you score a goal, you start the next face off with the amount of energy left, but when they score a goal, all their players get their energy full???

The 1st 3 leagues no problem you will breeze through easy.. 4th league little tougher but you should get through the 1st or 2nd go at it.. after that good luck because the difficulty goes way up ten fold! You score about one goal a game if any at all and they will score on you basically every shot they take.. and they take your energy bar down so much more faster it's near impossible to keep up.. fix this and this game is amazing otherwise it's just disappointing and frustrating

nothing is ever explained. not lockers, not stars, not ratings, or trading, or free agents... you get the point. opponents ALWAYS do more damage regardless of how much stronger your team is. if the game wants to score it will. if the game wants to win it will. passing is glitchy, as well as controlling your goalie. overall, probably not worth your time

I mean it's borderline unfair. For every ine move you get, the opponent get like 10. The opponent also gets way more power ups within the game such as the double attacking and it's unbelievably difficult to get rid of those. It can be a fun game, but there's too many bad things in the way.

Glitches and other issues. I just got a notification that the silver locker that I waited 8 hours to unlock was finally ready and when I go to open it it is suddenly a bronze locker. Not cool. Other than that is a fun game though passing is near impossible and shooting is mostly luck and law of averages. If you get enough shots some will go in.

this game is frustrating. I've been stuck in the Swiss league for about 2 weeks now. i can win every regular game and 7 out of 8 tournament games but when i get to the 8th game of the tournament suddenly the game wins the next 3 games in a row by a huge landslide (it won't even let me score a single goal) causing me to lose the tournament and have to redo the entire season and tournament again just to have it happen yet again. it's happened over half dozen times now. I'm done... uninstalled.

At some point your team can't keep up with the difficulty increases and game becomes unplayable. Teammates in shots are useless. I'm pretty convinced controlling the goalie serves no purpose in a shootout since the outcome is predetermined. Things like when the entire opposing line gets revived after cherry picker shot make it impossible and unbalanced. Really bad experience.

I would rate it higher but the shootouts are terrible. Player goalie moves way too slow and the AI Shooter has advantage of moving his player AND selecting where to shoot. Player Shooter can only move the puck in a small rectangle and not his actual body before shooting. Otherwise a really fun game....unless it goes to shootout where you'll lose 95% of the time. 😣🙃

If you could trade players would be ok. But game hard on so many ways and rewards unless you buy makes it very long to get. I lovr hockey and this has potential. But as i play on it looks like i will dump app and move to another game. Plus you cant win all the time and i get it but losing all the time when teams you play against are way above and beyond.

Update disappointment... Well it seems the developer has decided to change the game from allowing the timers to run in the background, to only when you are playing the game... Makes no sense since you can only accumulate 4 lockers (through winning games) and it takes a minimum of 3 hours to unlock them... The reason I will now be deleting this game....which is too bad cause it was a fun little game to pass the time with.

Pretty cool game, but way to difficult!! Can't make a save for the life of me!! Shots are random, I hit the post way to many times. Hard guys!!!! Way to take a good concept, and completely ruin it with difficulty!! Last game I made literally 16 shots, not one went in. It went to a shootout and they won! BS!!!

Good little match 3 RPG with a neat NHL lean. Now that I've played a bit more I get the locker mechanics necessity. Don't let the haters dissuade you this game is not p2p. I'm at the top level and I've spent exactly 0.00. No issues with the shooting/goalie mechanics either. Properly hard to do both but other than a rare puck freeze its a fair and fun system. Would be 5 star but the game does indeed lack depth, at least currently.

Game is good. But alot is wrong g with it. It's is a super unfair advantage Game for the AI. They try to force u to spend real money on diamonds to buy coins to upgrade your players. Otherwise, it takes forever. The board is never placed in a fair way do you latest have a chance. It relies on you playing stellar goal. It does explain anything. Thr team gets random breakaways because u can't see their board. No way to prepare your moves. The ice blockers just appear with no explanation... cont..

It's a fun game, for the lack of quality hockey games and the format of a match 3 type system it is great and I can kill quite a bit of time playing it. Only issue I really can mention is that it is glitchy at times, more so than not at critical moments in the game. So that is why 3 stars instead of 5

Over all I love the game. Improvements are needed in the passing mode as well as moving the puck. Sometimes it doesn't move and time runs out. You are never going to get your players leveled up high enough to beat the better teams. I know you want people to spend money but some people don't and we seem to be penalized for that by never beating the rich kid who buys everything. Just saying.

Not a bad game overall, the main problem is it can take 2 or 3 days to open a locker that got a three hour timer on it.The higher up you get the less you can do , try to upgrade players ,it takes so many coins and doesn't make of a difference. Could have full energy and one player can zap it all. Time to get rid of this game .
