Pythagorea

Study geometry while playing on squared paper.
> 250+ tasks: from very simple to really geometric puzzles> Easy to use> Friendly interface> 76 geometric terms in a glossary> Train your mind and imagination

**
* About ***Pythagorea is a collection of geometric puzzles of different kind that can be solved without complex constructions or calculations. All objects are drawn on a grid whose cells are squares. A lot of levels can be solved using just your geometric intuition or by finding natural laws, regularity, and symmetry.

**
* Just play ***There are no sophisticated instruments. You can construct straight lines and segments only and set points in line intersections. It looks very easy but it is enough to provide an infinite number of interesting problems and unexpected challenges.

**
* All definitions at your fingertips ***If you forgot a definition, you can instantly find it in the app’s glossary. To find the definition of any term that is used in conditions of a problem, just tap on the Info (“i”) button.

**
* Is this game for you? ***Euclidea users can take a different view of constructions, discover new methods and tricks, and check their geometric intuition.

If you have just started your acquaintance with geometry, the game will help you understand important ideas and properties of the Euclidean geometry.

If you passed the course of geometry some time ago, the game will be useful to renew and check your knowledge because it covers most of ideas and notions of the elementary geometry.

If you are not on good terms with geometry, Pythagorea will help you to discover another side of the subject. We get a lot of user responses that Pythagorea and Euclidea made it possible to see the beauty and naturalness of geometric constructions and even fall in love with geometry.

And do not miss your chance to familiarize children with mathematics. Pythagorea is an excellent way to make friends with geometry and benefit from spending time together.

***Why Pythagorea***Pythagoras of Samos was a Greek philosopher and mathematician. He lived in 6th century BC. One of the most famous geometric facts bears his name: the Pythagorean Theorem. It states that in a right-angled triangle the area of the square on the hypotenuse (the side opposite the right angle) is equal to the sum of the areas of the squares of the other two sides. While playing Pythagorea you often meet right angles and rely on the Pythagorean Theorem to compare lengths of segments and distances between points. That is why the game is named after Pythagoras.

Good idea, but the difficulty is all over the place. Parallels 2.16 is a perfect example of this. Up until that point you've never had to deal with fractional intercepts and the game never even introduces the concept. You're just expected to come up with it on your own and figure out how to use it to solve the problem. While the solution makes sense in retrospect, the game never provided the player with the correct tools first so most players likely wouldn't progress.

Logic puzzle with a geometry base. Starts of easy and ends up really hard. There are solutions available on the net but unfortunately don't explain the reasons for the answer. Some answers are pretty arbitrary (ie there are more than one answer but they only accept the one they thought of ). This is a very enjoyable game if you like pushing your brain

Phenomenal app - and I'm very picky when it comes to apps. Other educational apps feel repetetive, and focus on drilling concepts into your head. Pythagorea is not like that, it has a focus on problem solving - hence the puzzle type game design. The levels have been designed to be fun, not too difficult (but still stimulating). I genuinely feel I have become a better visual thinker through the use of this app, whilst enjoying the journey through its levels.

Great game. Difficulty increases at a good rate, and gets genuinely difficult with some levels. If there are ads I haven't encountered them. Feels completely pro-consumer and I'm here for it. As others have said, hints for the questions would be appreciated, but otherwise it's great.

Come on haters!! This is really good! I understand how frustrating it is to not be able to solve a level without any hint and that there are some levels that are just too complex! I'm all honesty, if there were hints with ads, one would be tempted to watch and then take the shortcut. But as this didn't have any, it forced me to think, work hard, do the math and I prefer that over shortcuts. Finally after finishing all but 6 levels that I just couldn't figure the math, I turned to www! Simple!

It's like being back at school (but not in a bad way). The controls are over simplistic though, nodes/vertices cannot be moved and do/undo is purely linear. It would be nice to be able to zoom in (at least one puzzle required the double bisection of a line). It would also be nice to be able to remove construction lines used to place a node. Also need to be able to select lines/nodes and delete them. Tutorials on how to approach the problems would be great, the provided help/info is insufficient.

Good concept; however, it would be extremely helpful to use a different color for the given points or lines. Also, give an option to skip a question, or at least get hints. I'm frustrated with one item and can't get any help to know what my error is, or be able to skip it. Finally, it would be more enjoyable to be able to do the free play option, without the requirement to pass the initial levels.

To be completely honest, I never thought it would be just amazing, challenging and tricky at the same time. I love the whole concept of the game and will lead you to the door of understanding Geometry itself. Some of the game levels are absolutely hard despite the lack of hints, which was a very good idea not to include one thus relying on our own skills and techniques. I hope it should have a "zoom" feature in it so any desired points and/or midpoints in a line can be placed accordingly.

The game play is simple but the puzzles can be challenging. It's not mindless a game and I don't feel like I've waisted my life after playing for 20 miniutes. Who would have thought that making shapes on a grid could be so enjoyable. As others have said it would be cool if it explained the mathematic and geometric principles behind the problems. Although I suppose that might be the point. The solutions are intuitive. Also, maybe a way to retry problems instead of restarting the entire app

This was a fun, challenging game that sometimes made my head hurt. As others have said, some levels were pretty obvious and required little or no thought. I got many of the more difficult levels, but sometimes I was just guessing the line angle (coordinates) and couldn't really defend my solution. In other cases, even being a math guy, I couldn't come up with a workable solution. I would enjoy the game more if it gave more explanation of the principles one could use to figure out the solution (not just give the answer). This could be an incredible instructional tool, in addition to engaging game, with the addition of the explanations. I realize I can go online and find solutions, or, more helpful, explanation of how to get to the solution, but it would be so much nicer to have the instruction in the app. I'll probably keep playing this game from time to time, but as they get more intricate, I get tired of bouncing in and out of the app and trying to find explanations without getting the full solution.

Not a bad game and fun enough. Could be improved in a number of ways though. For example some explanations as to how to reach the harder answers. If you don't know the maths (like me) most of it is still possible but some of it just isn't. Like 14.1. Just skip it by multipressing the button for the next level.

Boo. B. Dec 20, 2019

Early levels are quite enjoyable, but the later stages start to get ridiculous. It reaches a point where you can't work out the answer with pure logic and just have to resort to googling the answer or drawing lines randomly. Also, without a zoom function it is incredibly frustrating trying to select a particular point when you have several close together.

Mar. K. Feb 7, 2020

I enjoyed this very much; I completed all but two in 2 days. Marking intersections becomes physically challenging when ones fingertip obscures multiple targets at once. Dragging lines doesn't work at all reliably between very close points. For some levels a zoom would be of great assistance. More "hard" levels would be appreciated, but having the ability to replicate a long sequence of steps with some offset would allow one to focus on the logic without being bogged down in the physical limits.

Way more fun than I thought it would be. But, would be nice to have some clues to help. I've no idea what I'm doing most of the time, using intuition rather than calculating . I need a text book. How do I divide 4 segments to a ratio of 2:3 ? frustrating to not be learning. Still going back to this now and then one year later, would still like some clues and answers of course. Still 4 stars.

this game is an amazing mathematics game! i am impressed by the difficulty of each level. i have only one complaint though, and that is that there is no way to delete created lines. this makes a cluster that cannot be removed when trying to solve the levels, and it gets confusing to follow

Ell. Dec 30, 2018

its a great game, very educational, but it would be useful if onw could delete lines when theyre no longer needed so as not to get things messy (like when you have to use an entire square to get a point at a halfway mark) and an example problem would be useful as multiple variations of the same problem are shown in each section and if you cant get it within the first few problems it's near impossible to know how to do that type of problem. I am simply leaving a bad reveiw to show these problems

I enjoyed it very much. Puzzles range from the very easy to the very hard. Some solutions were found using intuition and mental arithmetic. Others required calculations in linear equations of coordinate geometry (or even calculus) on paper (or spreadsheet with cells formatted to fractions to reduce arithmetic error) followed by very precise (and crowded in the space available on the grid) constructions. It is possible to revisit individual problems to search for more elegant solutions. Excelent.

This brought me back to my high school days and i loved it Though usually the first few levels were too easy(as it's expected) I just wished that after solving a level, there was an option showing different ways that the question could be solved. i also like to see some probelms that gets solved classicaly(using only a compass and an straightedge)

I have played and liked your game very much. I observe that when many lines criss cross the figure, it is almost impossible to select a particular point on a cellphone with bare fingers. In such situations, I feel the need for zooming in. This feature is present in Euclidea but not in both the Pythagorea variants. Will be a very big help if the zoom-in and zoom-out feature is provided here.

I wish I had this app 45years ago! Would have been great for my CSE and O level exams! Essentially it's a lesson in geometry etc. Not a game as such. I'm pleasantly supprised at being able to do >80% of the tasks without resorting to pen and paper! There is a walkthrough available on the web when you really need it! 😎

Ken. M. Jun 26, 2020

My new favorite brain game. I've always liked but been a bit daunted by rigorous inductive reasoning. The progression of these puzzles is so well organized that I feel led to understand the needed principles in manageable increments, and gradually solving puzzles that I might not have known how to approach in less incremental progressions - and learning geometry in the process! Plus, the interface is extremely clear and self explanatory, helping to surface the principles along the way. Yay!

I like the fact that you have to think. Some were way too hard for me to figure out. I looked up some of the answers online and still didn't understand how they reached the correct conclusion! The graphics aren't detailed enough for some of the constructed nodes to be easily selected. The extra information helps but some hints might be nice.

This might make a good revision app for early years in high school (key stage 3) but as a game it is not only boring as too easy but I very quickly found an error. For me puzzle games with errors are no fun at all because it kind of defeats the purpose. (L26.4 there is more than one answer but it seems programmed to only accept one, which admittedly is the easy one but I thought to make it more fun I would try to see how many squares I could create while still meeting the criteria of the q.)

Not too many ads. Challenging. Have not figured out all of the levels. They get very difficult. It has been a long time since I took geometry class, or trigonometry. They don't give you the benefit of a compass. So very very difficult at times. Precision required. Not approximation. But I like the challenge. I'll figure out the last few in time.

This app is outstanding and so much fun. It's rather brutal and merciless. Although it gives definitions of terms, it gives no hints to solutions whatsoever. Of course this makes the app more respectable, but in the event of a stumper, good luck! Discovering a solution is sublimely satisfying and thrilling.

Bea. B. Oct 19, 2018

Controls are hard on a smaller phone with no option to zoom, even a little bit. Difficulty bounced around and had some difficult to understand instructions on a few problems. Not a casual friendly "game" and plays more like a high school geometry work sheet. No sense of accomplishment after you solve the fist one in each section for me.

Jef. S. Oct 29, 2018

Ad-free, no annoying music, and not pay to win. Some levels are quite challenging, but all can be solved using the rules provided. I had to use paper and pencil and some math for some, but they can all be solved. Stylus recommended for point precision. 5 stars.

Roh. C. Oct 22, 2020

Pretty good and challenging, but the game does nothing to make sure you learn. I was only halfway through some of the problems because it didn't seem very obvious how to reach the solution (or all the solutions). It would be more helpful if the info section had more than just definitions of terms. Maybe something like associated theorems, which will still require working the solution out.

Hel. F. Feb 29, 2020

This is a great game, truly educational and for the most part really enjoyable. It really needs explanations of why a solution is correct though. Not knowing why something is right even after googling the solution is frustrating enough for me that I'd even pay to have good explanations of the answers. Also needs the ability to * change the colours of lines you are drawing, eg switch between colours for construction lines and solution lines. * delete lines without undoing everything else.
