Honestly if your not using IOS dont use this. For my friends and I we could never load the drills becasue we were using android. It always gave me the same message about the software not being updated . And when you try to pick a specific cast member it starts the whole procces over again. Overall a not so good app to use for marching drills. It needs serious work.
Initially, I had an issue with copying and pasting URLs to download new drills from; but I figured it out after a while. QR code reader works fine. The app is a little clunky to use; but works well enough.
Couldn't read the QR code. Works on iPhone, but not Android. This app and the one used by my director are both updated fully.
works as intended, but not optimized for animations or battery life
My app crashed a few days back and when I opened it, the drill file that was open at the time was gone. Tried to import again using QR code and URL, but it keeps telling me it can't import the file because the link is incorrect or it was made on an old version of pyware 3d. Talked to my director, he said there were no updates. Tried to uninstall and redownload app, no change.
Great app for drill. However, I wish they would be on par with the Apple version. Whenever I select a performer, I have to manually scroll through the cast list for their name/info. On i-Products this automatically shows up on screen. It seems like such a simple feature but it is incredibly helpful in quickly solving problems in rehearsal.
I really like the app. It helps a lot with drills and sets and what happens in-between. I have a suggestion though. Can you add a feature that lets you select a performer and you have the option of a first person point of view. And also have the view rotate as much as a performer's eyes would.
Every time I try to import drill to it it says it can't import because the drill was made on an older version
It's a great app.
Every time I try to download my schools drill for QR codes it crashes. Pls help me asap
I am required to use this app for my college marching band, and while it is intuitive and it does the job of mapping out drill well, there are certain issues with the app that I believe should be addressed. The first issue, and the most important: locking your Android device while the Pyware app is open causes the app to essentially close and restart, closing your drill and requiring you to load it again. This can be worked around by tabbing out to another recent screen before locking your phone, but this issue is annoying and impedes progress. Other minor issues are that the app does tend to use a lot of battery life, and some tool-tips would be useful for beginners to the app. Otherwise, I am pleased with the interface and the ease of looking at drill on the field in either 2D or 3D. Also, another feature I enjoy is the option to set the drill interface to black-and-white contrast in a similar style to traditional note-card drill books. Fix these issues, mainly the phone locking issue, and I can give a higher rating.
Honestly, this app is an abomination. This hacked together UI is atrocious and follows just about zero Android development practices. Based on previous comments it's clear that Pygraphics does not know how to make an Android app as they didn't even know what onPause() and onResume() were. And to charge $2.99 for it is just insulting. Make it open source so your community can help you, because the potential for this software is phenomenal, but at it's current state I'm seriously considering requesting a refund.
I really like the idea, as a performer and field commander; the execution works pretty well. I have one major annoyance, however. Everytime I lock my phone / turn off my display, the app reloads, and I have to reload the file for show and select the set that is currently being evaluated - it takes on average about 45 seconds on my galaxy s8 from opening to get where I need it- a lot more time than on average is being alloted to correcting myself / others. One other annoyance is that occasionally, my settings either aren't getting saved, or rhey are deleted. I'm not sure, but if Pyware can acknowledge these shortcomings withe next update fixing these issues, the experience would be immensly better.
General good product on the iPhone, but on android, it's a real battery drainer and any time you minimize the app it closes your drill. This makes it very clunky and slow, and fairly bad for learning drill.
I have an Android device, and this app drained my battery power, made me reload everything every time I logged in, and was more of a hassle than a help with my college marching band.
I love this app so much, alot easier than a dot book 😂
I love this app....it gives a very clear view of any drill..great
Its alright its just when i click a button it takes me out of the app please fix this i did not waste my money for no reason when i could have used it for something else
For some reason, anyone with the Android app in out band can download the files from a QR code, but we can't load them. It's essentially useless for somewhere around a hundred people. That's not what we paid for, especially when it's a required part of rehearsal.
Please make it an option to open the file from the device instead of only importing it from the internet. I have already downloaded the file onto my phone, but the import options are not working.
Having problems loading files, and will randomly close out on it's own
Way better than a dot book and doesn't cost any more than one either!
It has helped me a lot for my high school Marching band
Everytime I lock my phone it resets the app
My app deleted all of my drill in the middle of rehearsal so I was stressed out. I tried adding the drill back on, but it didn't come back. I ended up deleting the app and then reinstalled all of the drill and it finally came back. This was frustrating and I was not happy. The other thing I do not like is how it drains my battery on my phone. I can be on 100% when rehearsal starts and an hour later, I'm on 55%. My battery should not go down 45% just by using an app.
