Only able to scan and need to pay to upload anything at all. Also the scan didn't work well in the slightest. Can't justify upgrading to premium. Would have been much better if the scan worked well. It would also be much, much better and welcoming to give each person 1-2 uploads a week or 5-8 a month for free. Users would be able to see how the app actually works and test the features they actually want to use without shelling out and finding it doesn't do what they want.
Have a problem where it doesn't recognize my upgrading to prime on my tablet, they have been slow to respond. I am also finding the software closes unexpectedly on my Note 20 ultra. So we'll see if that changes. Can't get a full scan in, and when I do, it is too textured and makes smooth items look like a mountain range.
Crashes 100% of the time while taking photos. I can't complete one rendering of a small, opaque object without the app backing out to the main screen. Worst part is that it doesn't save any of the work so I'm left to attempt from scratch again each time. It's impossible to make progress with this product.
DO NOT BUY THIS APP! We downloaded this app and used the free version and was able to get 1 scan that worked sort of. It was really choppy, but we thought if we exported it into Blender we could clean it up. So we bought the full version and the app never scanned properly afterwards. Also, we wasted over 100 bucks on trying to print out the mats in hopes that would give better scanning results. Long story short, we spent over 5 months trying to make this app work at different times and again when they put an update out in September. After the update the app kept freezing. So I uninstalled it and then reinstalled the app. After reinstalling the app does not recognize that I paid for the full version and there is nowhere to actually sign in or validate active accounts. I've tried multiple times to reach out to the developer and no response. One of the times through Facebook messenger even shows that they read my message, but still no reply. This is extremely frustrating. Feels like this is a company that is taking advantage of a booming 3D industry and people like me who are just getting into it. I would give this zero stars if it allowed me to.
I agree that this app has potential. Am I convinced that it's worth upgrading to premium? No, not in its current state. I printed their grid on regular 8.5x11 paper, and item was small. However, it was hard keeping the dome in the blue. You almost have to print their vertical grid, and do multiple poses just to get a decent image, and it still doesn't come out great. If the free version offered more features like model editing, then they could make an argument for buying the premium version.
Really excited about this technology! My first attempts to scan were very positive. The one gripe I have to mention is that it doesn't seem to scan hollow objects very well, but I've only tried one thing and it's probably not the best thing to scan (a glossy ceramic cup my son made). Usability for me was pretty straightforward, the tutorials make it virtually impossible to mess up. Horrible lighting and it still worked quite well. My son and I are going to have quite a bit of fun with this!
Pixel 4 user. It seemed to be working great until I calibrated it. Now refuses to show the dome it's supposed to. Also ridiculous to charge us by each export. If you are planning on using a 3d printer to duplicate any complex mechanism that is going to add up quick. Not to mention it wastes you time by not telling you that you have to pay for it in the end. Had I known I would not have downloaded it and I encourage others not to repeat my mistake. I know of at least one free alternative.
A total waste of time. After printing the base and and spent a lot of time scanning one simple object to test it (a remote control), the results were really poor (the main reason was due to fact that the textures didn't match with the object and the mesh was very clutter, noisy and low res). Finally, all that work to discover that after the model had been generated you have to pay in order to export it to .obj format!
Gets it its own way. It wants to have a quite top-down view of the whole mat that you scan objects on, and won't scan unless it can see enough of the mat. Fine, makes sense. BUT, it also insists that you get the camera down horizontal to capture the bottom of the object, and then it won't scsn because it can't see the mat. Doesn't work, by design.
the first time it showed a dome. It showed a pop up while i was scanning for the first time saying something like "map has to be calliberated once. keep scanning until the dom disappears completely". I did while still keeping the object on the map. It said calliberation successful after the dome disappeared and that's it. I am not able to do anything now. The initial scan I made is nowhere to be seen. When I try to scan again, I don't see the dome this time.
I used this with Android. However, I just could not get it to work. I carefully walked around, and around the target. Took me several attempts. But, the guided method seemed to be working. But despite (about) 2 hours of real effort, I never saw, or received any prompts to save the scan. shame. I looked st the website. looks like it is iOS and not Android.
Just get a blank screen when trying to scan, the AR dome sees it but when you go to record/scan just black screen with no feedback. It also seems that if it did work it would be really expensive, one export one credit seems hefty when one of the things I'm going to scan it 150 small parts. But at 0.99 to export a 35mmx35mm obj each....... Looks like it has potential in the future.
Pretty cool thing to play around with. Takes some time to get it right. Larger scans are tricky. I occasionally have an issue where I click scan and nothing happens other than the screen going blank...any advice from the developers?. For a free tool I'm pretty satisfied. You do have to buy credits to export but the price is reasonable.
Great idea, but just doesn't make the cut for functionality at this stage. 1 star it because there's a long way to go before qlone could be useful. Even with simple shapes. 2 objects scanned were cylinder (glue stick) and a sensor (similar size to a hockey puck). Neither were complex shapes and both had issues with recognising flat top, creating flat planar surfaces and stitching multiple angles. The processing engine doesn't work and post processing features are poorly made. Don't buy premium
Paid for the full version still couldn't get a good scan. Uninstall the app and reinstall it to recalibrate. Calibration option still didn't show up. You would think because I paid for the full version that I would download the full version again from my Google account from the Google Play store but no they want me to buy the full version again. Not going to happen. Complete scam.
QLONE doesn't even begin to achieve real-world results like those illustrated in the demo and tutorial videos. Installed it on my LG V30 ThinQ and had nothing but irregular scan issues. Any objects with a round top gets a cone-shaped point added to the scanned geometry. Even after applying a matte paint and grid lines to the object (a helmet), the pointed cone still appears. Barely any fine detail, even in HiRes mode. And the post-scan editing features don't even exist. Cannot recommend.
It has potential...I scanned a small toy on the 2nd attempt. To get the images to register, first get the blue dome to surround the model then click the record button. If not blue, adjust your view until it reappears & continue. The sphere drops away with each successful scan. I found it better to hold my phone and rotate the paper. It is buggy and crashed several times. I think a powerful processor is better. Should remain free, but with cheap paid for add-ons i.e. £1 for .stl export etc..
I can successfully scan an object, but doing so is incredibly difficult; and upon completion, I'm not even able to look at the object? The holographic dome over the object is very hard to manage considering it disappears 70% of the time. I successfully (painfully) scan objects and then they do not save to the gallery or appear in any other way.
Great scans for a phone app! -1 stars because Android app gets much less love than Apple. Not trivial to use and documentation is minimal, expect a learning curve. It's for still objects about 1” to 1’, not rooms or buildings or selfies. Need a turntable and lighting setup for good results, a tripod if you’re doing a lot. As a veteran of many cheap scanners I like the scans, but devs need to keep Android version up to speed. As of mid 2021 updates are still coming.
The app works properly, and the scans are the best I got with this kind of apps. But it does not allow to export and download the files, only paying each export. There should be a non-free app, I would pay for it, but i don't want limitations in its use. Without full features is absolutely useless.
The scan process is pretty slow and the resulting mesh often has incorrect geometry. As a result you have to spend quite some time for each try and result is hit or miss. If this app allowed pointing out badly scanned parts of the scanned model and then allowed re-scan of those selected parts, it would be much better. With static object on printed mat, it should be easily possible to align corrective scans.
It's a shame this is the best android has to offer. Tried many times to scan what I thought would be a simple object (a tele style guitar body) but I haven't got a decent scan yet, paid for pro which did produce slightly better results but still nowhere near good enough. Like many are saying the tops of the scans are coming out pyramid shaped and pointy, struggles on even flat surfaces, there's just not enough control over the scan and trying to merge multiple scans is met with varying results.
app although on the surface seems to suggest it gives good results. first scan didnt work. two suggestions to guide better. is a o screen light meter to help people see if they have the area prepared correctly also a mat v2 that has reference points to make it easier for the app to keep a constant of which way the paper is to keep the ar more stable
After multiple scan attempts (matchbox car on required printed scanning mat) results were still nowhere near usable. Mat is not consistently detected by app, despite varying distance, camera angles, and speed with each scan. Only tried free version, but definitely did not inspire confidence to purchase. Scan would consistently balloon across the length of the top of the car. Tool in paid version advertises ability to correct scans. Given initial scan quality, doesn't seem worth the hassle.
Unable to fully scan anything as it just stops scanning midway through the process. I wouldn't be comfortable paying for the premium given the poor performance (using a S10+, so don't think the phone is an issue). Hope they can improve this as the idea is great and the simple ui is well done.
I really wanted to see a LIDAR or photogrammetry application working on Android, however after trying to can a simple ring about 10 times and the app crashing once over half of the area is scanned, I'm disappointed. Tried rotating the object or rotating the camera, tried flashlight on/off... I hope they fix the issues because it could be useful.
Tried only one scan at highest quality settings. For a free app, the quality was ok I guess. They now have an option to flatten the top from the cone others were complaining about, but flattening brutalized the top of my scan. IMO not good for subsequent 3D printing even with substantial modeling tweaks. 3D scanning mat you must print. Has to be much larger. Better have BIG format printer for all but tiny objects.
Good idea. BUT. I had so much trouble trying to scan the lower portions of any object I tried to scan. The first two levels of scanning from the center of the object scanned very fast but it became more and more of a problem as I got lower on the object. I burned up time and battery for this with no results.
Dont waste your time downloading this app. This app simply doesn't work. I even tried getting a lazy Susan and a tripod to keep everything as still and stable as possible during scanning and the thing doesn't work worth a damn. If it manages to stay open long enough to finish a scan then you get all sorts of defects in the scan, but more often than not it just crashes before you can scan anything. If I could rate it 0 stars I would.
