Too much interupted play on mobile streaming. In 2014, multiple interruptions per song and constant loss of connection to NAS requiring restarting App while on cellular network. There was a time in 2020 when I could get through 1 song, maybe 2 without buffering, but still periodic disconection requiring restart. I upgraded from TS-220 to TVS-473XT in Summer 2021. There was no improvement. Since 2/2022 update, unable to play more than few seconds without repeated buffering on mobile network.

This app periodically seizes up and I have to kill the process and restart it. It also stops playing music when it looses connectivity, but then does not always try to reconnect. Also, rewrite the random selection routine so that it does not search for the 100 before it starts playing. Start the first song and then while that is playing have the app generate the next random 99.

Edit Jan. 2022: It's been about three years already since I bought and installed the QNAP NAS and the Qmusic app. Several changes have been made for the better, and it a little bit more stable now. Still slow and clumsy, lacks a WORKING shuffle feature (the existing one is difficult to find and does not work yet, from day one up to the latest update), and as a remote Android player it would benefit from some kind of sound tailoring option such as EQ. Using the app to stream DLNA is slow but ok.

I'm user of this and other Q apps for ages now. All their apps works fine and getting better and refreshed with every new version. Never had any issue with any of them. QNAP support is also very helpful if you need any clarification or help.

Good but slow. Needs to get lyrics from the songs file itself. All my MP3s have lyrics enbedded but this says nothing is there.

Works well via DLNA and MPD on all of my devices; exaSound PlayPoint, SOtM sMs-200, Raspberry Pi 3 B+, Chromecast Audio and Android TV. A bit slow, and lacks "play folder" capability. QMusic was my favourite among several others, but I now use, and prefer, BubbleUPnP.

Simple Access to your library, not much else. Basic playlist capability, but nothing intuitive about it. Can't select a folder and "shuffle all", also can't expect it to sort your music by anything other than already established folders unless you do it manually. That's fun when your collection is huge. Also, constantly jitters after a little while of playing. Frustrating at best.

I've been using QMusic for about 6 months. Obviously, I have a QNAP server installed on my home network. To give you a sense of scale, I have about 2000 artists, 1500 albums and more than 20K songs. Qmusic isn't exactly perfect but, it's by far the best option for playing my collection on my home theater. The UI is plenty fast and, I find it easy to search for music and play it. I've compared it to VLC, Plex, the native Sony (TV) DLNA player. Sound is excellent and response time is the best of the apps that I've tested. That said, I am looking forward to trying Roon. One of the coolest features is that I can use Qmusic to access my NAS collection over the Qnap cloud and, therefore can stream my collection to any Airplay or Chromecast compatible device I come across. I will tell you, that bar outside Atlantic city didn't like it when I started playing music from my collection on thier TV. I guess they should have locked down thier TV (ha). I am giving this one 5 Stars. Good job QNAP.! Please keep enhancing this one.

It is pretty good as long as you set things right. Remember you have purchased a tool, which requires some settings to be put in place. This application requires to have an access to your folder containing music files to be available for playback (Music Station service on NAS itself works together with QMusic phone app). So do yourself a favour, learn how to use your NAS before submitting single-starred reviews.

Nice App. One important function is missing. Automatically put played music into preselected Playlist when it will reach preselected time for example 1 minutes. As well it would be nice if it could be placed into download list . I mean top music based on played time. ;) you will direct get 5 star from me

While it kinda works, the UX is terrible. It is unbearably slow to login, navigate between screens and play songs. I'm not expecting Spotify-level polish and UX, but as-is this is basically unusable.

Incredibly inconsistent, laggy, and buggy. This is some of the worst software I've ever used, and this is the only time I've ever felt compelled to leave a review. I'm extremely disappointed I decided to go with a QNAP NAS. Never again.

Edit: I originally gave Qmusic a 2/5. Some problems I mentioned were taken seriously by QNAP and fixed in later updates. The app remains dreadfully slow with no caching of the music directories, the list of artists, etc.

Does not show quite a number of mp3s, although in Qfile i can see them. With some of the mp3 files a wrong time is shown and playing them fails. Also the desktop app (through app center) is erroneous this way, but with different songs :-)

Nice app but it's still a bit primitive. It is to complicated to create a playlist and choose the songs. Would be nice to create aylist choosing the folders as well.

Right direction..poor execution. TMO using OnePlus6 on a 2017 Honda Accord and this app typically fails connection for no apparent reason, very slow on interface, and dies once starting to stream. Just not ready for prime time..

Mic. H. Nov 12, 2019

When using this app to stream through the Cloud, music continually pauses, then restarts. Incredibly frustrating. No clear pathway to direct connect with the NAS over a mobile network.

Doesn't work with 5.0 firmware??

Ang. A. Mar 13, 2021

This claims to be a music app but it doesn't play m4a unless you can download and active an obscure free license which is nearly impossible to convince to work. Most frustrating!

Music files not showing up in folder View (as the other views are a bit useless). Is this BUG going to be fixed? Similar problems with QMovie too.

Sim. B. Dec 31, 2020

Well I suppose it’s better than nothing and it’s free too. Nobody in their right mind would pay for it anyway, as nothing is a close second - a feeble and primitive app that’s slow and buggy.

Good app runs really well but not what I'm looking for. Id like a remote control to select music from the Media Station 5 to play directly to my AV receiver via dnla.
