Unreliable, unfortunately. The app looks much nicer than most other QR code readers, and worked perfectly smoothly when I first installed it several months ago. However, it repeatedly failed to scan and open two links that I really needed today. After closing and reopening it, then checking the settings in case I missed something, I ended up installing another scanner, which worked flawlessly first time! Based on their stellar reputation, though, I will give Kaspersky's app another chance. One.
At first I found strange a QR scanning app with 17 megabyte, but after installing and trying it I realised that it has a built in web browser to open and view web links contained in QR codes, also allowing users to open scanned web links in their preferred browser app. This app is really fast reading both QR and bar codes, even in low light conditions. The app can work with no active internet connection, but in this case it is only able to display plain text contents of QR or bar codes.
Its interface is good and it recognises QR codes instantly, even under (so-to-speak) unfavorable intensities of light. However, its interface could be somewhat improved to match Google's revised Material Design principles—since it adheres to the previous ones better—and the removal of its custom browser would easily earn it another star, for it serves to be only a nuisance.
It works really fast, scans and opens the link in its own browser for you to see. This is apparently done for your security. If you then want to go over the web page and do more like playing videos and audios, you need to copy the address and paste it into your regular browser.
The pull down ad prevents access to the Android pull down menu. edit: 10/17/31 The app no longer works. It scans the code, slides to another window (opening the URL?), and then immediately returns to the app. You can't copy the URL from the History. I manually entered the URL into the browser and it opened the page without error.
First time use. The app took a long time to read the QR - it seems I was holding the camera too close even though the QR code was within the frame but I don't have this problem with other readers. Then, when it read the QR it would not open the web page but gave a "page not found error" (wifi was turned on) but the page did open with another QR reader.
Great app. My phones camera app doesn't scan QRs so I have to use this. I tried other apps but those other apps didn't scan them. This app INSTANTLY scans codes. I don't care that they sell users data because thats what 99% of tech companies do so yeah. I also trust Kaspersky [with my data] even though I use another AV. Although I have a lot of great things to say about this app, I have a suggestion, for the app to send a popup before opening a link. This is the best QR code scanner ever! 10/10.
My phone is a $80°° 3 year old Motorola. Nothing like this app is "built-in". I tap the icon and half a second later I've got the viewfinder box - good to go. Reading an article in "How-To Geek" on security scams by similar apps prompted me to check its permissions- camera { ✓ } only. The scam tactic is to convince someone they need to "sideload" an update. Permission denied per the info page. So... I give this one ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!
This is a natty, no frills app that usually does what it is supposedb to do. I say 'usually` as it sometimes gets confused and will not respond to a qr code. This may be due to its built in security but it has never notified me so. Hence the 4 stars instead of the 5 I would have otherwise given it. This is rare, though, and doesn't Impact it's overall reliability. So, despite this short coming, it is still my qr code scanner of choice. It is a Kaspersky product after all.
It simply works. This is the best I have used. I just need a QR code reader. Not a bunch of ads covered with copious amounts of non functioning time wasting poop. Thank you very much for providing this wonderfully simple and functional app. It quickly reads codes. And expedites without delay. A company that should be rewarded and supported. No BS, company, no BS app. Thank you Kaspersky!
This code reader is so fast that you cannot even attempt to focus your camera and SNAP! Here's your results, choose what you wanna do with them! Content search is right on, no fiddling with settings to get the proper results. Does exactly what you expect it to only in double time!!
Easy, simple to use and highly secured! A must have scanning app in the digital world that we lived in nowadays. What is lovely about this app is that there is no ads to it! Highly recommended to every other person out there looking for a QR barcode scanner!
Kaspersky QR scanner I just downloaded is literally the first and only QR scanner I have tried that actually works on my phone which I've now had for over 4 years. I've tried so many scanners but for some reason my phone simply won't do QR code scans until this Kaspersky scanner. I also have Kaspersky for security so I really should have known to try this scanner years ago and saved myself the four years of frustration!
wow, just uninstalled after reading the terms and conditions. The amount of data that is extracted, collected and shared between AppsFlayer and Google analytics is outrageous: IP, user's unique identifier in Google services, name of the network operator, carrier, computer name/mobile device and this is just to name a few... I do agree with some other but definitely not with the ones listed.
This is a great scanner. It reads codes that Google Lens simply doesn't (same phone/camera). That said, I originally downloaded this to test artsy codes I was making myself. If you're doing the same, this scanner is too good to tell you when built-in scanners will fail (I know that sounds silly but it was a caveat I didn't expect). Only use for scanning codes, not testing your own.
Almost every code I scan is flagged as "Dangerous Link" and the warning is hard to bypass. The main reason I went with this app was the recognizable Kaspersky name where there are many scetch QR code apps on the Play Store, but I eventually had to stop using it because the warnings got too annoying
Not bad. Many times after the scan, the link gets hanged & one is not able to perform the operation. But overall does a decent job.
The app is very good, although the policy when opening the app for the first time (or after an update) is not compliant with GDPR. When prompted with the choices, you cannot use the app unless you accept ALL the ToCs. This is illegal under GDPR regulation because the end user can choose the usage of its data.
I use the app for Safe Entry check ins. If there's an option to facilitate opening in browser by default, I'll add one star. Presently, I have one extra step to open in browser. If the history could be selectively deleted (instead of all) that'll be another star. Otherwise, it basically does its job, but UI could be better.
Installed and spent 45 mins reading all their legal mumbo jumbo, accepted, then was taken to a screen asking me to allow or deny access to camera, and no matter how many times I selected allow (or deny), nothing happens.. Restarting app results in same issue.. Reboot tablet, same deal.. Uninstalling then reinstalling, get stuck at same step.. Uninstalled and off to look for something that works.. All in all, 2 hrs I'll never get back... Samsung Tab A... Android OS version 8.1.0
there are lots of options for a QR code reader. I choose Kaspersky because I use all their other apps and they work great so I trusted their code reader would work perfectly and it does. I don't break my head wondering who I can trust, Kaspersky all the way. My only complaint is when you scan the QR code of an app it opens in the browser. it would be great if it opened in the Google Play Store directly or Apple Store. Not a big deal but it would be even better.
After installing this app, it scans the code and stores the text of the code into its history, then that's it. It does nothing after that. Seeing the comments from others, it is working perfectly as designed, but the design doesn't meet the expectations of actually doing anything beyond scanning.
Their privacy policy is what you'd expect from a big company (which prevents me from giving 5 stars), but the app itself is flawless. Much better than pretty much any other option. It also scans barcodes.
It took me over 8 minutes to have the stupid app focus on a QR code the size of a dime! My camera has NEVER been that focus flaky! Even when it did clear up the app didnt respond to the code without me trying and failing further cus it was back to focus problems. The only focus aid I saw was the option to turn on flash..tells me to uninstall and move along.
Extremely fast and reads codes barely in range of the camera. Like, I didn't even have time to reposition the camera before it had already processed the code at the very corner of the screen/camera's range.
Love the app! It amazes me with how versatile QR codes are that they don't have a system app on the smartphones for them. I tried a number of them from the Play Store and not too many of them work. I hesitantly tried this one and was pleasantly surprised. It worked flawlessly right from the get-go.
Reads all QR code pointed at, and detects instantly. I'm struggling to think of the last time it failed me. I used to waste seconds to a minute waiting to position the phone camera to scan a QR code while in a queue using other apps. I just blitz past others now with this app...
Works well. My only problem is that it's too fast. When you have more than one QR in close proximity it's difficult to focus on the one you want before the scan starts. Maybe a scan button would be a useful feature.
So fast!! How?? I've tried twenty scan apps and this one is by far the fastest and most consistent. It has several annoyances on startup but they stop. This one opens links immediately. Has history. Sound/vibrate optional.
Fabulous. Thank you so much for building this app. I'm *not* being innundated with ads, it can scan more difficult codes (small, some distortion, mild to moderate blurring), and it's *fast*. It doesn't show you the link and wait for you to copy it to your browser, it immediately opens the link in a new window. I haven't run into any phishing scams yet to allow me to test that feature but with what I'm seeing here, I wouldn't doubt it's capabilities. Excellent app. Love it.
