This is hands down the best way to play quake on the go hands down. Has plenty of options amd tons of customisability. The dev helped me out when I messaged them, which was great to see. Definitely recommend you check out their other stuff (like zetatouch or deltatouch) if you like retro shooters.
Quad Touch is the best Quake engine application. Better than the Beloko Touch applications (which were pretty good). Quake, Quake 2, Quake 3 Arena and Hexen 2 all work great and also lots of mods work too. Love that there's a jump button for touch screen and a console button for cheats and maps. I love this application.
Hello,i just did the recent update, and i noticed that when i play the fourth episode of quake in darkplaces,it loads and just stays there, its only when i start the teleport to play that episode, the others run fine its just that one, please fix,cuz i cant complete the first quake with this problem, thnx
Ok I had trouble with setting up the new Secondary Scope (thanks a lot Google...) but after a quick email response from the dev everything was resolved. Been a Quake enthusiast for years and this app has everything I need. 5 stars
Setting up is a nightmare, the app interface is poorly designed, waste of my money, better quake mobile engines out there then this sloppily made mess
Phenomenal app. I have this installed on my Switch via homebrew + android. Works perfectly. Also installed their Doom+Build source ports too. Highly recommended you get these to support the Devs, grab yourself a controller attachment and get to gibbing some monsters!
Had lots of fun with it, but I can no longer load my save files in Q2 base engine. Every time I get an error message: “ERROR: Game error: Savegame from an older version." Looks like something broke savegame compatibility in the newer version. I was in the second half of the game so it is quite frustrating. Other than that, great gameplay experience. Having a way to fix this issue I will give five stars. EDIT: Yes, it is the first time.
Great port, I love it, sadly the FTEQW engine which is the one I really like using has a problem, I cant load any saved game, is there any way to fix this?, also I was using darkplaces as a second option but when i was playing one of the mission packs, I had a problem finding a blue key. It wasnt on the place it should for some reason, I checked a walktrough to see where it was supposed to be but it wasnt there.
I'm impressed. It runs like charm. Lots of settings and customization. I just can't get the controls right. Any possibility for the classic controls? So I wouldn't have to aim up and down. It's really hard to aim with touch controls. Other than that, it's perfect. UPDATE: sv_aim 0 does what I wanted to achieve! Excellent!
Much like Delta Touch, Quad Touch is a fine way of playing the Quake series, and even Hexen 2 for crying out loud, on the go, and the touch controls even work nicely with the fast gameplay. I will say it is a bit more tedious to set up, but that's due to how the file structure is for each game. Other than that, it's pretty great.
This app is a friggin revelation! Having recently bought a clip to attach my phone to my ps4 controller, I started to look for things I could play with it. I've been a fan of the Quake series since the first one released, but the thought never even occurred that I'd be playing them on my phone! This app runs 1, 2, 3 and Hexen 2, along with their expansions, brilliantly! All you need is the data files and you're good to go! I've been having a blast playing these classics again!
This port collection is amazing - the persistent gamepad configuration is the best part. The implementation of Quake 3 controls for mobile is also remarkable. I had a hard time figuring out how to run quake 1 map packs, so I thought I'd share here to potentially help others. The way I found to do it is to just copy the arguments from the map pack's README into the 'Extra Arguments' area when running the game.
brillant and i mean really good. Just a few things bug me with the darkplaces engine. 1. No shadows. No world shadows or dynamic light shadows which add so much more to the game. 2. Bloom lighting effects dont work. 3. water reflections dont work. If you fix these.. you will go down in history as the best porter of games... nah, i would just be really happy.
Great App, everything works. Playing on a Snapdragon 450 with 4GB ram, I am getting 60fps in Quake 1 darkplaces. Using bluetooth mouse and keyboard, it's just like playing it on the PC with a little more input delay. Turning off the crosshair has improved the gameplay experience a lot! Quake 3 also runs very smooth, best play it with USB mouse plugged in with USB host adapter.
Great app overall, unfortunately I'm not able to play Hexen 2 in the current version of Hammer of Thyrion (1.5.9) and Hexen 2 is not playable through FTEQW unless I'm missing something. The game boots correctly but when I chose "new game" and select a class it goes back to the console prompt. The game does run the demo prologue in Portals of Praevus though but new game doesnt work on either. If I force it to load the map using the game cmd it works but I'd have to select the map, class and level through the prompt instead of going to new game or load game every time.
STRONGLY recommend, a service actually worth paying for. Significantly better than other options for quake engine on Android and great all-in-one integration of games. Only complaints are a bug in OA where the low LOD models are replaced with the base Q3 models, making for a jarring visual experience (maybe tied to the version of OA I'm using), as well as touch controls not being super well suited to faster paced/higher difficulty Q3 matches.
Played some more after getting the time to sit down and experiment with mouse and keyboard. I use a Bluetooth board and 2.4 wireless mouse through USB C adapter. As of this writing I'm more amazed than I was before! Absolutely perfect and super smooth engine port with FULL MOUSE AND KEYBOARD SUPPORT ON ANDROID 8.0+, running on a SnapDragon 630 so you don't need the highest grade phone to run it. So incredibly happy with this. Gonna try an USB C to HDMI for display later. Absolutely Phenominal!
Genuinely Perfect. Thank you so much, works with all Q1 expansions. Amazing touchscreen controls and the xbox gamepad and a bluetooth keyboard also both work better than I could have imagined. This plus Samsung DeX with a controller is bliss.
UPDATE: Please add Wrath Aeon of Ruin to DarkPlaces, it sees the files but loads quake 1. Everything else works fine and it runs very smooth. Great to be able to botmatch on my phone. Though SmokingGuns (standalone) runs, it won't allow me to enter the game. Gets stuck on loading the game screen when trying to enter a botmatch. Please take a look at that too. Xonotic/Nexiuz work too.
I was bummed when QI4A didn't work, and ftedroid didn't either. when i saw this and realized that it was made by the same guys who made Delta Touch, i just knew i had to get it. Somehow, they made the controls work on mobile, which was my only complaint with the q4a series. mod support is top notch (because it is just the pc source ports but on android), and the picks for the source ports are the cream of the crop (fteqw still has its splitscreen!). You'd be losing money by not picking this up!
This is outstanding work with what you've done here. Same goes for Delta Touch. One thing I will add though is that Darkplaces has a weird glitch where, when you gib something, the gibs continuously bounce around the room. So in a matter of seconds you've got blood everywhere and gibs looking like they're in a space rocket. Other than that, everything seems to work great.
Absolute masterclass in how to port older games. Massive range of options, great performance and touch screen controls that feel as smooth as mouse and keyboard back in the day. Thoroughly recommended!
This is by far the best way to play Quake(s) for Android. The developer provides regular updates to the app that also include the newest versions of the source ports so you can always play the newest mods. I use this app to co-op and deathmatch with the Windows PC on my home network. If you like Quake, you need this!
Great app. Just as good as delta touch, easy to use, customizable controls, this app and delta touch, they are both amazing and thank you for putting in the time to make these 2 apps.
