The app is a great idea but needs further development and more features to be truly useful. I live in Northern Scotland where the sowing times are vastly different to those down south so we need the option to automatically adjust (by last frost date in area - see gardenfocused website for example or manually amend the date for each task. Options to delete unwanted tasks from the list, add personal notes, plan rotations or garden layout would also be improvements.
The app itself and the information provides is 5/5 stars and is absolutely amazing!! It's just a very limited list of vegetables. I would love a regular update where RHS keeps adding new and old veggies, maybe even categories like Herbs - veggies - flowers - Fruit/Berries etc.
Best UK app for fruit and veg. I just invested in a load of gardening books as I'm going all out this year on trying to grow fruit and veg (have only tinkered with them until now). Wish I'd seen this app before getting the books, it's exactly what I need. Love the monthly task list tailored to exactly what I have growing. Best app on my phone I reckon!
I love this app it's basic but so handy to have the monthly task list generated just by listing the veg you want to grow. I would love some flowers to be added to it as well though as companion plants. Overall really useful app.
Doesn't connect with your account. I spent a long time setting up my account on the website, adding all my plants. I am not doing it all over again in this app when RHS already holds that data! I thought this app would be a good solution to the clunky website, which is just as bad due to slow loading times and a poor search engine.
Like everyone else, I would like to sync this with my RHS website login. It's daft to have to duplicate everything, and to lose it when I change phone. Surely that's such a basic ask, and a simple fix?
I think the app is very well thought out, and easy to use. I think a calendar view is essential though, specifically highlighting when to sow, plant (and harvest) different plants. Note both sowing and planting plug plants would be useful.
Very good and clever app but i with there was more plants to choose from. There are many plants I have that would have been great to add to the app and also the the opportunity to to add the plants in what stage they are in, for example if I have just planted lemon seedlings and then instructions comes up adapted to this.
Unfortunately so limited as to be pointless. Great idea to have a virtual assistant for the novice gardener but very poorly implemented. Only has 100 plants built in and no option to add your own.
This is an amazing companion app to gardendroid. This app is more in depth in tasks and scheduling. It's not a garden reminder app to remind you when to water. It suggests appropriate tasks care for your garden plants seasonally. Love this app. Please expand the number of plants and the avail be information for them.
Seems to be a solid, informative app, but the list of plants is rather small and some fairly common plants haven't been included - one example is lavender, which I have in my garden, while some slightly more unusual plants have been included on the app instead. Are more plants going to be added in future?
Ok ish. Fairly basic for those who have grown veg for a number of years, I like the idea of My Notes which is in effect a diary but this is where I have a problem with the app, it orders the notes on the first number of the date and it appears you can not alter this. If you write a note say 6th, 12th, 23rd June and then write a note 9th July, this will be placed between the 6th & 12th of June! Perhaps the Devs could educate me on the fix or fix the problem themselves.
I agree with earlier comments about linking the user profile on the RHS website to the app. Pity, as I spent some time filling in the info on the site and now cannot re-use the information. Still expect it to be useful but a little frustrating when you have a lot of plants to update the web app and mobile app. May the best version win? @dev team: please consider this with the relevant decision makers/budget team. It is not a complex request and fairly reasonable I should think.
Brilliant concept, really good idea for an app and the interface is spot on. Would really benefit from including shrubs/perenials/trees etc. would love to be able to use this at work!
It doesn't open at all.Just a conn APP., which costed me around more than 100MB in installing it Don't waste on this APP your MB. A Big Name with Dirty Tricks that's all.
Added all my plants to my profile on the website, then realised there's no way to get the app to sync with it! Great idea and useful tool, could do with a login tab to sync my RHS profile
this app does not allow gardening through out the year. I live on a tropical island and I plant through out the year. I don't have to deal with the effects of frost. I can't photograph the progress of my vegetable garden and there isn't any feature to set task. This app isn't suitable for me.
Very informative lets you know sowing time when you can expect to harvest and common problems , how many times they should be attended and difficulty to grow . Also has filters to help you select suitable fruit/veg for you according to your preference to maintain, plot size available and experience really cant fault this app.
Could not find how to log in, even though I have just registered with the RHS and put 1 plant into my garden, but I cannot access it on the app, so I uninstalled and gone back to the website address instead, and guess what I cannot find how to log in?
A great and very informative guide to growing one's own vegetables. Provides very detailed guidance from soil preparation, crop planning, seed propagation and growing, through to harvesting for a wide variety of popular vegetables. A must have asset for any experienced and beginner vegetable growers alike..
A good app to help get started with a first veg patch but i would love to see this developed to merge with the 'My RHS' area of the main website. The convenience and simplicity of an app, but with the bigger database of other garden flowers and shrubs.
Will not resize on chromebox, 38 plants lost, verified by play protect, android version, please help with what seems a permissions issue.
Such a shame the rhs app isn't very informative. It could do with some better features. I created my account via the website with uploads of my plants but when I use the app and log in they are not there. I would use the app more if it was better
This app is too basic for me and does not have a wide enough range of plants or varieties. For example, asparagus peas, anchoa, borlotto beans, apple varieties and pollination groups or pruning times. Nice idea but too simplistic.
Useful app with good features for casual to serious growers. I can't find a way to edit or delete the notes I've made in the app which is frustrating
Not bad for the beginner. Would be nice to have some extra reporting, like a gantt chart of plant vs month showing sowing and harvesting times, for the plants in my garden.
I think it's good, but doesn't have plants in general, only fruits and vegetables. Also, I wanted to link it to my online account from rhs.
The app is quite crude. For example it is not possible to edit notes or to save photos What is inexcusable is that there is no way to export and import your data. You lose everything each time you change phone. * I edited this review and reduced it to one star. Because I had to change phones and lost all of my data. Don't use this app unless you want to risk losing all the records that you have entered. It's rubbish really.
