R-TYPE

I love r type and this version is not bad. I do wish there was some in-between with the controls. It gives you either an oversized d pad which is horrible as you'd expect, or a much better touch control scheme where the ship follows your finger motion. The second option seems more viable, but it actually changes the gameplay since it gives your ship infinite speed. Why they did this I don't know, it makes it weird and hacky to play since I'm used to the movement speed of the ship.

Ok so basically this is our R type from the 80s! The controls are ok if slightly slow to respond and all the gameplay is there so it brings back fond memories ! The only issue is the game seems to be sped up a bit it's a lot quicker than what I remember and therefore it comes across as somewhat Glitchy and buggy as well as this the sound in terms of the music is not very good it sounds too tinny and no where near as good as the original arcade game . Also the graphics are not as good as they should be and appear a bit Glitchy and slightly lack frames of animation nowhere near as good as the arcade original and for a Samsung 8 + phone that's ridiculous! Still worth getting if you're a fan of the arcade game a decent conversion

It is an awesome port of the original. Every sound, every graphic appears to be identical. Only problem is, hard to see where you are going because of the need to move the ship with your finger. Things come up from behind and kill me because my thumb blocks the view. Does anybody make a plug-in joystick for an Android? Lol

Cant get passed level 4 as the controls ain't good. I could finish the game back in the day at the amusement arcades. So I know it ain't as good as it could be so maybe a price of 10p for your game would be a fair price. Its got bugs 🐛 I uninstalled even though cost me money 💰

Good all times! Works perfectly on Android 4.4 tablet. L.E. This is just as fun and almost just as annoying as it was 25 years ago. :) Almost just as annoying because, back then, you would have to press like CRAZY the fire key while you used other keys for ship control, so it was even more challenging. P.S. High score is stuck at 174,500, even after fresh install.

Totally awesome game!!!!!! If you love the old fashioned side scrolling shooters(similar to Defender), you will love this game. Graphics are great. Controls are easy. It is a totally addicting game. It plays smoothly on my S7. It's well worth the money. I got it on CHRISTMAS, so it was a great and inexpensive present to myself. Thanks for making such an awesome game.

It is the tell us more section wants to make sure the reviewer has actually played the game. Anyway, this is a very addictive retro game that has very distinctive graphics inspire by the HR Giger and the Alien franchise, given that this game is made in 1987, one of the best. Also, many of the bosses appear to be phallic symbols, just the Giger influence?

Gorgeous graphics, exceedingly difficult game. NPCs seem to fire to where you will need to be most of the time, AI seems to cheat a bit. As other say, you often because your finger can hide an enemy.

Love this game, it's so good to have it in your smartphone and play it on the go! Matches arcade version but game play is a bit harder maybe, due to the particularity of the controls - as in many other games... You should install it and give it a try!

Awesome conversion of one of most influential games of all time. 1987's R-Type. Still feels good 30 something years after having played for the first time in the arcade. Thanks devs for the Nvidia Shield Portable controls.

WARNING: People with the brand new OS smartphone shouldn't buy this game (or other classic sega games by Dotemu) YET since there's no update since 2017 and you can't unpack the game file; meaning: it's completely unplayable. But if you own the older model of smartphone like I do, it runs with no problem (I dug my old Sony Xperia Z2 out just to play this game) I'll change the ratings after you guys fix the issue, making it compatible with the newer OS.

I don't know what's going on with this game, but since reinstalling it when copying my apps to my new phone it now have a major glitch where the ship jumps uncontrollably causing me to miss ships I'm attacking & killing me, and I can't even get pass the level 1 boss now!

Old school side scrolling shooter. Difficult and awesome at the same time. Requires a lot of memorization of enemy behavior.

Paid to download this game. Won't even load. Sent an email to the developers, no response. Be very careful people as you won't get a game once you've paid for it and you won't get a response either. I'm resigned to losing my money. BE VERY VERY CAREFUL!!! DON'T BUY IT FROM HERE.

On the note 20 ultra, the game is locked at 55fps, and since the display is either running at 60hz or 120hz, this makes the game feel sluggish and look jittery even though there is no reason for performance to be impacted. I used developer mode to see the FPS in game to confirm it and can post screenshots if nessessary. Please fix this! Then I'll rerate it 5 stars

It's a very good game I love it brings back a lot of memories only thing playing it with a controller the ship feels slow and heavy wish it had and option for more speed for controll support .big thanks to the team who put this game together

Great slice of retro gaming. I used to play R Type back in the day & it's still good fun. Challenging difficulty, decent bosses for the time, cool power ups & faithful to the original. Dive in for a low cost. If you liked the original & have a little patience you will enjoy R Type. Samsung S9 = no issues at all

Works on my phone ok, but instantly crashes in on HP Chromebook, be no wireless controller support as far as I can tell

Excellent conversion, controls are way better than expected, smooth gameplay for touchscreen controls, can't complain, just buy it!

Oh memories memories, still that shoot'em up we know n love.... cupple of snags though, hence only four stars. Controls block the view (thumb and directionals pad leftside) and how come you only get one Bit up until level 4???

It's impossible to play as the controls either block the screen, or your finger does. Total waste of time

I loved playing this but unfortunately, as with all the sega games I had bought for my phone, this now doesn't work on my S20 FE. I try to open the game and it says Unpacking Files Failed, amd I can only close the game. Really unfortunate as this really is a great game.

I've been playing R-TYPE since the early 1990s and still haven't finished it. (1. Don't mock me, and 2. Do not mock me). 1 less star because a previous build allowed separated effects and music volume adjustment.

not easy to play on a phone. once your thumb runs out of room it makes the gameplay very awkward. your fingers also block incoming fire and obsticles

I have enjoyed R-Type since the late 80's! I am so glad it has been converted into a portable game. This version is very challenging too! A "MUST PLAY" game!!!👍👍😁😁🤩💫
